Chereads / WHAT IF I BECOME THE ENEMY / Chapter 8 - Bullies

Chapter 8 - Bullies

What a bad reaction, Cyril muttered to himself.

Then he just stared at Maria, who brought back the used glass and teapot. Cyril was too lazy to go back to the knight training room. Why would he duel with people who hated him? He did not understand his hypocrisy.

However, he still had no plan to avoid his fate of death. Besides, in the memories of himself that he carried over from his previous life, he missed some chapters that he had read in the early chapters, and they were all about the female lead and the Crown Prince.

"But I didn't know that I would experience something as bad as this kind of soul transfer," Cyril muttered to himself in annoyance.

He grabbed the sword lying on the table, glanced at the beams supporting the second floor, and then jumped to his feet. He had no other choice. As long as he didn't know what to do with the plan to avoid his death plan, Cyril thought he should act like Cyril in the novel. Or perhaps he would be accused of being a demon who had taken over Cyril's knightly body.

"What a pity, look at this shameless commoner?"

Cyril stopped, turned his head, and during his brief observation did not recognize the person he had just spoken to. "Do I know you?" asked Cyril.

This person was a knight, Cyril was certain. He still smiled, even though he cursed inwardly. He hoped that the people who disliked him would ignore Cyril. It was better than being mocked like this.

What about nobles and commoners? They both looked the same naked.

"Look how arrogant he is!"

Cyril thought he shouldn't have replied earlier. Just think of me as the wind. The invisible air!

"Sorry, sir, since I'm a commoner, I naturally don't think of you as a noble person."

The answer Cyril just gave didn't seem to make the man who had been standing in front of him all this time happy either. The frown on the man's forehead deepened.

"Are you looking at me?" the man who was supposed to introduce himself said, glaring at him.

Even if Cyril remained silent, he would still be considered impertinent. But it was better to answer than to remain silent.

"How dare I, sir! You already told me where my place is," Cyril said, bowing slightly.

He silently hoped that the man before him would be satisfied with his humble reply and leave Cyril alone.

The man grabbed Cyril by the collar of his knight's shirt, causing him to look up in anger and surprise. "A lowly human like you has absolutely no right to speak to me! You are proud of the knight's glass that was given to you. You're just a little bit luckier!"

"Where is there such a thing as luck in this world, sir?" Cyril replied unconsciously.

Perhaps no one in this world knew it, but there was no such thing as luck in Knight Cyril's life. In his childhood, he had to work hard to stay alive. Even now, he was still trying hard to live.

"You should have left when you realized you weren't needed! You think a lowly person like you will be considered even after graduating with good grades!"

Cyril smirked. He couldn't bear to put himself down anymore. "At least I don't blame others for the misfortune I got because of my stupidity!"

A punch flew into Cyril's cheek, knocking him to the ground. His ears were ringing, but he could see the disgusted expression on the face of the person who had just hit him. If he didn't avoid imminent death in a year, he would beat this arrogant man and gladly accept the knight's punishment.

There was a commotion in the distance. It came from the training grounds. The nobleman, whose name Cyril didn't even know, was taking off Cyril's shirt collar. He ran in the direction the sound was coming from. Cyril did the same.

"What's going on?" Cyril asked after he approached the training ground and found another knight standing there.

The Kestaria Cyril asked gasped and sighed before answering, "There's an order from the palace!"

Cyril still wanted to ask who gave the order, but the knight had already stepped away from him. Cyril only had the choice to join the other knights who were already lined up neatly in the center of the field. The captain of the group was leading him now.

"We just received a warrant from the palace to accompany the Crown Prince to the South."

Cyril's eyes immediately widened in shock. He must have heard wrong. Perhaps he was too shocked by the lockdown incident that was so familiar to him, that he hallucinated.

Isn't there still six months until I meet the Crown Princess who was attacked by robbers on the way back from the south? This is different from what is known!

Cyril thought frantically. If he still wanted to live after another year then an encounter with the person who caused it must be avoided. However, the storyline suddenly had to change.

"Damn it!" cursed Cyril under his breath.

He then clenched his fist, holding back anger. Staring ahead with a stiff face at the captain.

"Get ready, we will soon be leaving for the palace to pick up the Crown Prince. Although this is an escort mission, none of you should take this lightly!"

The previously neat lineup became a mess. Cyril still stood there, letting the people go first to prepare. He didn't know what to do now. He was more worried about the possibility of early death.

"Why are you still here, Knight Cyril? Underestimating the escort duties?" The knight captain assigned to Cyril approached, looking at him sharply. There was no attempt to hide the mockery in his gaze.

"Unfortunately, Captain, I would be happy if my own life was taken for granted. I apologize!" He said as he bowed and left.

Cyril entered his barracks building, passing through the dining room before he could go up to the second floor. Then he faintly heard a familiar voice. He stopped to listen.

"If I succeed in this task, will you become one of my concubines, Maria?"

Cyril peeked out. Seeing Maria standing awkwardly and fearfully in front of a knight. So she was the bully?

"Excuse me, Lord, could you please finish your business right away? I have to go to the second floor and get ready." Cyril deliberately interrupted, interrupting the business.

" Sir Cyril!" Maria half ran over to him. Her gaze conveyed great gratitude.

"You're ...."

Cyril opened his eyes. Such an honorable nobleman before him looked very angry.

"What is it, Your Highness? Am I interrupting your attempt to woo a girl?"

Cyril's question had offended the nobleman. His hands clenched into fists and he raised his chin as he spoke. "Two commoners are best. I should have known that my offer was too good for a lowly servant."

Cyril wanted to punch the nobleman in the mouth, but he quickly remembered that his death was too near to do anything else.

He let the nobleman go with a lot of cursing. Then he turned and looked at Maria, who was hiding behind him.

"When did he start bothering you?" asked Cyril.

Maria didn't answer Cyril's question but thanked him. Then she quickly left in the direction Cyril had come from. "You bastard!" said Cyril angrily.

He sheathed his sword again and climbed the stairs. As he prepared himself, he reminded himself that he should not fall in love because he would die within a year.
