Chereads / WHAT IF I BECOME THE ENEMY / Chapter 26 - Identity

Chapter 26 - Identity

All of Cyril's worries disappeared after he was at Adriana's residence and enjoyed his precious time by taking a bath in the room provided by the host. A male servant waited outside the room while Cyril bathed and knocked every five minutes to ask if anything else was needed besides what had been provided.

"I don't need anything anymore. Go!" Cyril tried to expel the maid.

However, let alone leaving, the maid did not seem to move from the front door. He wondered how Algis and Adriana had lived all this time. Maybe that's why Algis and Adriana don't care about the people around them.

Cyril was already dressed when the maid waiting at the door earlier entered. The maid--who Cyril didn't want to know his name-- glanced at him timidly. Even though he wouldn't do anything bad at all.

"So-rry Mister?"

Cyril was surprised to hear a sound like a mouse squeak. He then turned around and found the maid staring at him as if seeing something strange, as well as frightening. "What?" asked Cyril with an unpleasant intonation.

"I heard you died once."

"Ah?" Cyril exclaimed in surprise.

He's not a famous person. Also has no previous relationship with any famous person. Only now did Algis seem interested in him because Cyril could use magic. Otherwise, with his behavior at that time, Cyril would have been kicked out of the knight squad.

"Forgive me, sir! I'm just curious."

Cyril had seen such an expression on Maria before. He knew very well the reason why it could be like this. People who have died and then come back to life in this place are said to have been possessed by a devil or demon. He wanted to teach about suspended animation to the people in this place. However, an understanding that has been rooted for a long time cannot be changed just because of his words.

"I'm not dead. I just stopped breathing for a second. It's a disease!" Cyril explained as Maria did.

The butler shook his head, uncomprehending of course. However, he didn't say anything else and then took all the toiletries that Cyril had used under his arm and left. Soon three other maids entered and carried the used bath out to be cleaned.

Cyril took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Adriana is safe now. Algis has got his girlfriend back. He was still curious about the stone that released the magic power held by Ferdinant. Nothing of the sort is mentioned in the story. Something was wrong, lumpy, giving off a rotten smell that Cyril couldn't even describe. However, what did it matter? What is clear now is that he is not in love with Adriana--even though Cyril is fascinated by her beauty.

The beginning of the sinister events that befell Cyril has changed. He didn't know the effect it had on the others.

He had read many books before in his past life--until now Cyril wasn't sure that he was dead, but there was no other explanation than that--, all kinds of things like reincarnation, transmigration, and others. The facts found there, if you change the way the story should be, then other events will also change. Maybe Algis will be killed by someone else. However, once again Cyril told himself that he had no connection at all.

"It remains to be seen how to leave this warrior life!" muttered Cyril under his breath.

"What does he mean by leaving this soldier's life behind?"

Cyril's heart felt like letting go. He jumped a little and spread his arms as if to strike. Luckily it wasn't done.

"Are you all right Cyril? Did I startle you?"

Algis smiled broadly in front of Cyril now. His face looked so annoying for Cyril. How was it possible that after the tribulation they had endured, the crown prince's face was still so clear?

"Ah, the power of the main character!" muttered Cyril absently.

"What?" Algis interrupted immediately.

Cyril lowered his head, placing one hand on his chest and the other on his back, bowing slightly in salute. "Pardon my impoliteness, Your Majesty!"

There was the sound of Algis breathing mockingly, but he still replied, "Raise your head, Cyril!"

Cyril did as he was told. He kept his expression as even as possible. However, Algis' laughter, which did not consider Cyril's efforts at all, made everything in vain.

"Well, I prefer your honest expression like this!" said the Crown Prince to Cyril.

"Your Highness, you will make me scolded by Lord Borneo!"

Borneo approached Cyril not without reason. Surely Algis' maid was warning him to know the limits. Well, Cyril couldn't think of anything other than that.

"You won't let it, will you? The Cyril I know is not like that!"

How long have we known each other? It hasn't even been a day yet. If not for the warp, then Algis would have thrown his sword at Cyril's neck. Why did it sound like they were best friends who had known each other for a long time and drifted apart.

"Ah, don't look at me like that. I know what you think!" Algis cleared her throat then.

However, Cyril's mind would not stop there. The relaxed attitude that Algis showed depressed him. Their relationship is not like that. They had just met each other and this morning Algis still wanted to behead him.

"Your Highness, it seems that you have misunderstood a little!"

"I hope I misunderstood, Cyril. I wish I hadn't heard the first thing you muttered."

Cyril swallowed hard. Indeed what was wrong if he wanted to leave the knight squad that didn't even accept him in the first place.

"Okay! Let's forget about that for a second. Ferdinand has woken up!"

How could Cyril be able to do that. Especially when Algis just brought it up. He also didn't understand why Algis told him about Ferdinant. Cyril was sure that he had nothing to do with it.

"You're curious as to why Adriana is in the mine that doesn't have the power stone anymore, right? Then what explosion happened?" Algis fishing.

Cyril unfortunately only has a little curiosity.

"You can have a servant report it to me, Your Highness!"

"Why do you have to do that!" Algis frowned.

There was a difference in status between them. It's like Cyril looking up to see Algis from the depths of the abyss. There's no way Algis doesn't know about that.

"You think too much! Come on!" Algis exclaimed because Cyril was still silent.

Cyril had no other choice but to follow the crown prince who was his lord. It would be even more impolite for Cyril to let Algis wait any longer. Algis walked first, leading the way.

The place they had arrived at was the same living room they had used when they arrived. There sat Adriana, several royal knights standing behind. Opposite were Ferdinand and his father. It was annoying to see the two people who had just pushed the heroine into trouble.

"Thanks for waiting!" said Algis as he sat beside Adriana.

Ferdinant, who was said to have come to his senses, was still pale, though more alive than the possession of the strange power stone which had attracted everyone.

Cyril stood by Algis' side. Fearish, the captain of his troop looked at Cyril with displeasure. He could feel the man's gaze stabbing him like a sharp sword many times. However, Cyril tried to ignore it.

"So can you guys explain to me how Adriana had her picnic in the mine?"

Cyril saw not only the pale face of Ferdinant but also the face of Count Affonso, Adriana's father. It seemed he had lied quite a lot and would suffer a great loss now.

"There was a fortune teller who came to us two months ago. He said he could help my son who has little magical capacity. The solution is a high-grade power stone that is in the family mine." Count Affonso stammered and trembled as he began to speak.

"Wait!" Algis stopped the story of the two people in front of him. "Adriana, can you go?"

Adriana looked unhappy, but she stood up and left.
