Johan blinked in fear. He took a few steps back when he stood in front of the large, well-equipped knights outside Prince Algis' room. The knights stared at him unblinkingly, and Johan's knees buckled in fear.
It occurred to Johan to just leave this place. He could tell his master that Prince Algis was out. But Johan would surely be caught lying the next day.
"I can do it!" Johan encouraged himself. Then he went back to the front of Prince Algis' room.
The same knight Johan had been afraid of looked back at him curiously. "What are you doing here? Whose servant are you?" the knight asked him.
The people Johan knew had been gentle with him, even when they were angry. But the knight before him was quite loud and resonant. The sound waves of the guardian knight made Johan tremble with fear again. He clenched his hand into a fist and let the envelope entrusted to him by his master crumble.
