Chapter 2 - Wherein?

"Can someone who had died come back to life, sir?"

Who died? Cyril turned to the man in the uniform and tassel over his shoulder.

"Can be! There certainly was such an incident, but--!" The "master" in question looked at Cyril.

Cyril realized that he was being talked about. However, he wasn't dead at all. He's still breathing. Even now he felt hungry.

"Let's talk outside, sir!" The "master" in question invites everyone out. Except for the maid who cried at the sight of Cyril.

Where am I now? He wondered.

Cyril remembered his bed. Also, the cell phone that was on the pillow beside him. He didn't understand why he was here all of a sudden. Most importantly, who are these people in strange clothes around? They were too serious for people doing costume parties.

"Gosh... it's just a dream! Dream!" Cyril pinched himself. The pain on his skin made him realize that this place was real. "Actually what happened to me?" Cyril asked in a loud voice out of frustration.

"Sir?" The woman who was crying out of fright after seeing Cyril wake up called out to him.

Cyril watched the woman. The pale face looked beautiful. Cyril had never seen a woman as beautiful as the one before him.

So how long has she been here?

Cyril felt ashamed for speaking alone like a madman. The woman must have been frightened by this.

"Hi!" Cyril waved in greeting.

The woman was shocked and backed off. Is Cyril's face so scary? Apart from his poor life economically, Cyril believed he was quite handsome.

Cyril smiled slightly. A big smile will only make a woman more afraid. He was greeting and his bun was threatening.

"What's your name?" asked Cyril very quietly like a whisper.

"Spare me, Mister Knight! Don't eat me!" The maid screamed begging for mercy at Cyril.

Cyril was suspicious that he looked so bad now. Those people who just came out had already changed it. Maybe peeling off Cyril's facial skin and making him look more like a zombie than a human.

"Could you give me a mirror?" asked Cyril carefully.

The maid looked at Cyril. Then she turned to go get something by the window. When she returned, she brought with him a small mirror with an iron handle. The mirror looks old. Cyril's shadow clouded in it. However, the mirror told him that he was still like him. In addition, he has a scar on his left temple.

Wait, I don't have a scar on my temple!

[Hard jawline, sharp nose, sun-dark skin, shiny black hair, with brown pupils. Cyril Liechtense is a handsome mercenary knight]

The introductory sentence in a novel about a character with the same name popped up in Cyril's memory. Cyril cursed inside.

"Thank You!" Cyril returned the mirror to the maid. His body was shaking. The fact that he suddenly became Cyril Liechtense scared him.

It meant that he who had just cursed at the writer in the previous world was already dead. Did he have a heart attack in his sleep? Or did someone attack him in his sleep? He would never be able to see his parents again.

"Why did I wish for something unlucky just now?" Cyril whispered regretfully. He had intended to die. Even though he is fine even though he is poor. He just needs to find another job. Why should expect death?

Wait a minute! Cyril warned himself. This could be an experiment of a maniac in novels. He caught Cyril, took him somewhere, and did plastic surgery. Hearing that there was a possibility that he was still him, Cyril was relieved.

"Excuse me, can you tell me what my name is and who you are?"

The maid was shocked again. He backed away. The mirror that Cyril had given him earlier he hugged tightly.

"Your name is Cyril Liechtense. You are a part of the palace knight squad. I'm Marianne. You can call me Maria. I am one of the maids who take care of this knight barracks. I found you no longer breathing in bed!"

Cyril could not deny anything even if he wanted to. This was indeed in the novel I had just read. The author of the novel must have cursed Cyril. He must have tagged Cyril for leaving the previous comment.

Knights of the palace troop? Introduction to Cyril Liechtense started as a talented mercenary. He was then famous for his sword prowess even though he could not use magic. A low ranking noble later recommended Cyril to become a knight because of his prowess with the sword. He passed the exam and was officially appointed as a knight in the palace even though he came from among the people.

Cyril could think about that later. Now he needed to make the maidservants who were near him fearless. Although he did not understand the reason for this woman's fear.

"I have sleep apnea!" said Cyril. "It doesn't lead to death!"

Maria didn't seem to understand. Cyril could understand why that was happening. The setting of The Knights of the Red Moon is a medieval setting mixed with magic and a fantasy world. Like the setting, knowledge about sickness in this world was almost non-existent. So that all diseases are always connected as a curse that ends in death.

"What is it, sir?" she asked.

"It's a condition where people stop breathing during sleep. That doesn't mean I'm dead." Cyril wished that Maria would just believe what was said.

"But the healer said that you died from choking on vomit!"

Choking? Are there no other cool reasons to die?

"Maria!"

"Yes sir?" Although afraid Maria answered Cyril's call.

"Could you leave me alone?" asked Cyril.

Maria looked worried. Cyril had no idea why.

"Were you ordered to stay with me?" Cyril asked Maria.

"I--asked Captain Fearish to stay with you, Sir! The healer also asked for it!"

"Why?" asked Cyril.

He was sure that in the novel there is no incident like this. He was also sure that Cyril was not treated like a freak like this even though he was ostracized by knights from noble families.

"The doctor suspects that you are not Master Cyril. They said maybe you--a devil."

Devil? Maria had just said that she was a devil. The funny thing after it's suddenly here. "I'm not a demon!"

"So says the Master Physician!"

"I just stopped breathing for a second. Not become a demon!" However, Cyril knew that this did not allay the servant's fears. "Maria!"

"Yes sir!" Luckily Maria still replied despite being scared.

"Can we be friends?"

Maria, the maidservant that first met Cyril, had stepped back a great distance. She looked at Cyril with a paler face than before. "Master, don't kill me!" The maid started crying.

This means that Cyril's efforts were unsuccessful.
