"The mayor huh?" Wilson asked abstractly. Even though the revelation had him completely shocked, he was already beginning to see reasons why the mayor would partake in such buffoonery. As an important figure in the society, he had probably tasked himself with the work of bringing back hope to the people of Hayside by using the placebo effect.
With his influence and power, it would be easy for him to convince desperate and foolish people like the tied up man into believing they could actually liberate Hayside. He'd fund them with the proper equipments, words, and with little words he'd immediately be in control of their actions and thoughts. Wilson truly commended the man's thoughtfulness, but this wasn't the right way to handle these type of matters.
