Chapter 83 - The Darkest Light

As the sun rose, the smell of war was upon Free City. The Starved Gorgon had begun rampaging through the city, followed by heavily armored vehicles. They plowed through the city, attacking anyone it their way. Everyone was running for the hills, till the various crews of Free City attacked back. The Pulse Sparrows' F4U Corsair holding aerial superiority, keeping the creature from advancing too far into the city.

The city police were making sure to get their teams in place as they attacked. Citizens made their move, everyone trying to escape the incoming carnage. Screams and cried echoed throughout the city limits and the beast, Louis, and military vehicles attacked. The Mayor ordered anyone able to fight, back into the city.

After hours of fighting, the Pulse Sparrows packed up shop, and headed to Ottawa, knowing Free City had fallen into the hands of Louis Watts, and an unknown tech corporation.

That night, former free city citizens spend their night in Ottawa, their worries only become worse one Ghost had landed. It was the NWO fight all over again, but this time, there was no fleet, there was nobody manning 1430 WCMY, no undergrounds, no alliances, just the Ghost and Ottawa, duking it out with Malacorp City, the former Free City.

Families gathered as the Ghost activated the city speakers, playing music to calm everyone down. The Pulse Sparrows entered the Reddick Mansion to find the Ghost sipping on a glass of whiskey. He had dawned his WWII Coveralls, just sitting in a rocking chair watching the fireplace.

"You ok old man?" ask Kay

"Yep, just preparing for tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Inquired Clarity

"Tomorrow, I'll begin working on fortifying this city, making sure Louis can't get here."

"Well count us in, you're a Pulse Sparrow, remember?" laughed LQ

"Yea, I remember. Grab a seat, take a load off, stay a while."

The crew sat down as the fire crackled and popped. The embers leaving the chimney rose into the sky, fluttering as they went upward, being carried into the stars as if souls were finally freed from their anguish.

However, despite this relaxed moment, trouble was brewing in the atmosphere of Earth. The United Nations Space Hub Station or U.N.S.H.S had been the only place untouched since the bombs fell and ended life around the globe. However, they were mostly criminals who'd been sentenced to life in space, and they'd managed to take control of the station. It had been monitoring an asteroid headed to Earth in the days before the bombs, but that Asteroid had been 153 years away from ever striking Earth, however, it had been 152 years since then, only year remaining till eminent destruction of all life on Earth as they knew it.
