After contemplating for a while on what to do, they decided to shop for stuff.
Victoria kicked against it: saying it was too dangerous but Ace had reassured her saying
"They should get stuff now before it's too late."
With the number of people that chased her, when she went out for a walk, she was pretty sure it was too late already, but she followed anyway. Ace had suggested they take it from the convenience shop down the road.
After much convincing, she agreed to do that after collecting gadgets and equipment for their survival. In a few minutes they were out of the house and onto the streets, moving rather cautiously to avoid the zombies that might be wandering around.
Much to Victoria's bewilderment, they didn't come across any zombies. They had met some shops open, and some soldiers near the shops drinking. They also saw a few people outside: chatting and just living life as if there was no problem at all. Well the estate gets busy at 8:00 pm so it's completely normal for everyone to be outside
"I wonder if these people are aware of the Virus" she says to Ace while picking up stuff. Ace had shrugged it off
"Maybe they don't watch the News: everyone is busy trying to make a living. I'm pretty sure this is all over social media." Ace said before Ace and Victoria headed back to her home where they dropped the things they had gathered in her room.
Ace insisted they go back outside, but she insisted more on eating first to give them strength. She made oats and they ate in silence. Both were trapped in their dilemma. After they finished eating they went back outside, still being careful not to attract noise.
They managed to dodge through corners and came out of the street as they did the first time.
The street that was once dazzling with noise and people had gone quiet and empty. Blood spills all over the floor, shops left unlocked and deserted. Ace stood still for a moment, trying to figure out what happened during the time when they moved back to her place after sourcing for materials and when they had lunch together. A cold chill ran down his spine.
"Let's do this quickly." She said to him as she tugged on Ace's arm. He nodded and they walked over to a big shop. She grabbed a big bucket and began to lose a few groceries in it. "Who do we compensate?" Victoria questioned
"Now is not the time to think. Victoria." He said in response before he grabbed another bucket and started tossing more items in it Whatever he could find: snacks, chips to drinks.
Victoria finished tossing in snacks and drinks in one rubber and then detergents and cleaning supplies in another. She looks at Ace, to see if he's done with his too. He was facing the other way so she couldn't tell. She looked around the shop, in hopes to pick up something useful when hands covered in blood stretched past her shoulder. She brought out her knife and stabbed the figure deep in the forehead, hurting herself too in the process.
"Please die" She whimpered as she stared at its body on the floor
"I hope these things die too from hitting it on the head" Luckily, it didn't move. Ace grabbed her hands and enveloped her into a tight embrace, a momentarily tight embrace
"We've got to run," He said after breaking the hug.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
He grabbed her arm and they started running in another direction. She quickened her pace when she looked behind to find some boys chasing after them.
They've been bitten.
Victoria grabbed Ace's hand tightly as they both increased their pace.
They got past her gate and entered her apartment that was already wide open, bolting the door, as they exhaled deeply.
"No" He mouthed at her.
The sound of growling in the sitting room sent their hearts racing. Victoria, still holding Ace's hand. rushed to hide behind the couch. They stayed quiet and listened. Victoria tried to peek at the person growling inside their house but Ace drew her back to him, their nose slightly touching as he pulled her to face him. "Grrrr" The sound came again.
"There's a zombie in my house" Victoria whispered in a shaky voice.
"How the fuck did it get in?" Ace boiled
"I don't know. I must have forgotten to lock the door when we went back." Victoria said
"Are you fucking mad? Who knows how many they're in here ?"
"It's just one." She said
"How do you know?"
"I just...I just know" she responded unsure of what to say.
"Well, I'm not going to play that guessing game with you while my life is at stake. Even if it's just one, how do we take it down? We don't even know what way or direction it's facing. Or its exact location...."
Victoria crashed her lips on his, silencing him. She deepened the kiss when he made no effort to withdraw. The creature walked right past them, as it kept sniffing the environment. It growled before moving into the kitchen. She stopped kissing him and looked at him. His face carried no expression as he just stared blankly at her.
"Upstairs" Victoria whispered. Ace stood up and squatted to the stairs. He turned and waves over to Victoria. She squats behind him as they slowly make a run for it upstairs.
Victoria, out of fear and panic ran up ahead and rushed up thudding loudly on the stairs. The zombie must have heard the thudding on the stairs as it growled loudly, running from the kitchen to the stairs. Victoria worried that the growling would attract other zombies so she yelled to Ace who was halfway up the stairs
"Hurry up!"
"Come on now, a zombie can't possibly climb the stairs-"Ace had started saying before the zombie grabbed onto his leg. Ace falls at the impact, and kicks rapidly trying to get the zombie's hand away from his leg. The zombie refused to lose its grip.
Victoria panicked as she turned around to look for something to get the creature's tight grip off Ace's leg. Her eyes landed on a table iron. She rushes to grab it and runs back halfway to the stairs. The zombie did not seem disturbed at her sudden appearance. Instead, he kept his eyes fixed on Ace.
Victoria with all of her might raises the iron and bashes it on the head. Her arms vibrate on the impact. She hastily retreated a bit to give herself more space. She brings the iron down, again and again, her arms aching from the strain. She continued bashing and bashing it, until its grip on Ace loses. Ace took that as his cue. and hastily creeps six feet away from the zombie hold. Victoria drops the iron, breathing heavily.
She rushes over to Ace to help him up.
Tears welled up in her eyes and Ace hugs her close to himself. With sweaty hands, he held her chin.
"Hey look at me." Victoria sniffs as she looks up at Ace.
Her attention gets diverted when the zombie stands up, half its head damaged and bashed in. She gives the zombie a hard kick as it stumbles on the stairs and falls. They couldn't tell if it was dead for good this time around. Without trying to confirm, they made their way upstairs, and into Victoria's room. Victoria rushes to the small couch and moves it to the door. shutting it after Ace got in She slumps to the floor and the tears that had assembled flow freely.
Ace squatted and enveloped her in a tight hug, not allowing her to go almost immediately as he did before. She breathed in his manly scent: mixed with sweat and cologne, possibly deodorant too.
It gave a sweet mixture. She couldn't tell if she was tearing up more because of what almost took their lives or the impact she's getting from the hug. She couldn't even remember the last time she hugged someone or cried in their arms.
She continued to cry in his arms, as he coats her. The thoughts of the person or zombie she killed in the shop still haunted her mind. Her tears dropped from her eyes without control as she thought about her parents and if they were alive or not
"I killed someone. What about my parents? What about his family?" She murmured repeatedly. Ace breaks the hug and stares deeply into Victoria's eyes
"I don't want you thinking about what just happened. I need you to stay calm .... Forget everything and only think about your survival. Don't stress about anything you can't handle at the moment. You fucking saved my life back there. You've got me ... I'll be anything you want me to be your brother, and your best friend " She cuts Him short with a kiss. A peck on the lips actually, and he stared at her shocked like they didn't just kiss downstairs.
" I'm sorry I shouldn't-" Ace smashed his lips on hers leaving Victoria in turn, a little bit startled. She kissed him back after recollecting herself. A Deep kiss, nipping into her bottom lips fervently. His tongue moved in rhythm with hers. He nibbles on her bottom lips before pulling them lightly and then breaking the kiss.
In one swift move, he has her leg clutching his waist. At the same time, he took off Victoria's shirt. She stared as he tried to unbutton his shirt.
She held on to his neck, for safety as she clutched her leg tighter to his waist.
This is it.
She thinks to herself. He lowers her to her bed and tries to take his jeans off. He pulls off her trousers leaving her with nothing but her panties on. She felt a slight panic building up, but remained calm.
Victoria stares blankly at him "Should I tell him?" She thought to herself
"God no! That's too cowardly. He'll think I'm a baby."
He plops on the bed and buries his nostrils on Victoria's neck. One of his hands was holding on to her waist the other clutching onto the bed sheets.
He groaned low in his throat and flexed his hips. A loud gasp left her lips when she felt his hard erection nudge her, sending all sorts of confusing sensations throughout her body.
His hoarse deep voice was filled with so much passion. lust and desire His lips smashed down on hers, ravishing her mouth, sucking and biting on her lower lip before driving his tongue into her mouth. An unexpected moan escaped her lips when she felt his erection press harder against her core. His lips moved rapidly over hers dominating, exploring, tasting, licking every inch of my mouth. His hands moved up to her breast, caressing them as his lips continued their fierce assault on her. She thrust her hips grinding against his hard member. Her hands tug his ass, and he groans. He stops kissing her as he watches her pant for breath. His finger moves up to her thighs. stroking them, moving slowly up to her warm pulsating flesh, and slowly finding its way to her vagina. He circles his finger up her clits, and a loud gasp erupts from her lips at the impact.
"Keep it down... We don't want those things attacking us like this, do we?" She nodded
He continues circling her clits. Victoria didn't even realize his head was between her thighs until he mounted her leg on his shoulder , sliding off her panties and plunged his head between her thighs , sucking , pulling , licking , and leasing on her wet flesh. Immense pleasure floods throughout her body as his tongue thrust deep inside of her . His mouth clamps down violently on her clits as he inserts a finger.
" Wait what? " He says as he sits up
" Please don't stop now " Victoria said with a hoarse breath. She tries to capture his lips but he just turns away . She immediately felt hurt at the sudden rejection from him.
" Are you sure you want this ? " He asked
" Why ? Aren't you ?"
" I want to do this ... but I don't want you… Regretting.. "
" I want this alright ! " She raised her voice , loud enough for him to hear and low enough to not draw any unwanted attention to them
"I-" she had started saying but A scream echoed outside the window and they quickly sprung up putting their clothes back on. They rushed to the window, their little moment of intimacy disrupted and forgotten. Ace tilts the curtain and tries to look outside for any threat or danger. "I can't see anything. It's dark outside." Victoria steps beside Ace and looks out the window. She could see everything crystal clear like its daytime. Just outside, several soldiers squatted on the floor feasting on something. They're probably bitten. She turns to Ace to tell him what she had seen. But he was no longer by her side. She turns to find him scattering his bag in search of something. After what felt like hours of searching in his bag, he sighed in relief as he brought out a pair of night vision goggles.
Victoria stares at him weirdly.
'What's a night vision goggle doing in his bag?' She questions herself rhetorically.
Ace could feel her eyes on him as he quickly walked back to the window and squats at her side.
"I know you can't see properly, but this is a Night vision goggle I'm holding. It's for a friend."
When Victoria didn't say anything, he turned and fixed the goggles. He squinted his eyes on it as he placed the goggles over them.
" Three zombies are feasting on something. The Soldiers we had come across earlier. " Ace says as he continues looking.
" They have guns by their side. We should-"
"Don't even think about it. "
" But we could make use of- "
" I SAID NO ! He screamed at her.
The zombies stop groaning and try to pinpoint where the screaming had just come from.
Victoria felt her eyes water as she stared intently into Ace's eyes.
"It's a miracle we got past that zombie downstairs, and you want to go get a gun from 3 zombies? Not just any zombie, SOLDIERS. We don't even know what a zombie soldier is capable of." He lets out an exasperated sigh
"I'll handle things." He said "Just go shower while I think of something."
'That's all? You're not even going to apologize for yelling at me?' Victoria had made to blurt out but she didn't want her voice to betray her.
She stormed off to the bathroom and turned on the shower, drenching herself and the clothes she had on in the cold water. Is he just going to pretend we didn't just do any of that? Why did he yell at me like that? Does he think I'm cheap? Does he hate the sight of me? Does he even want me? "She kept asking herself.
She turned off the shower and walked out.
She walked over to a corner and took off her wet stuff, and placed them in a bucket. Not looking up at him, she moves over to the mirror and lets her hair free from the bun and weaves her hair into two. After cleaning up the bathroom, she walks out to the bedroom. She went straight to her closet and picked out a top and shorts. Comfortable with her choice, she finished dressing and came out to meet the roof sealed, and a sweating Ace, padding the floor with a rug
" With this intact .... they won't hear us from outside. Victoria nods at him curtly before making her way to the bed. Ace got up and sat beside her
" Hey ... I'm sorry for yelling at you. I just don't want you getting hurt. And I'll appreciate it if you don't try to get us killed. "
" Get us killed ? I wasn't the one yelling at the top of my voice over a simple suggestion."
"I honestly don't have time for this right now -"
"And I do?" Victoria stands up from the bed and grabs the water from the table taking a sip from it. She gets into the bed and lays down. She relaxed her head on the side of the bed. Soon she started to doze off... darkness taking over her completely.
___________
Victoria sat up and stretched. She turns and looks at the time; two in the morning She looked to the other side of the bed Ace isn't there.
'Maybe he's in the restroom.'
She got down from my bed, strolled to the bathroom door, and knocked.
"Hey. Ace... Are you hungry? I have some snacks in my closet." No response.
"Ace"
Victoria pushed the door open only to find it empty. She checked her closet, under the bed. and every other spot she could think of. She walked over to her small couch and found a gun lying on the couch. Panicking, she rushed to the bathroom again. checked her closet, and drawers and he was nowhere to be found.
And then it hit her.
"Why did I sleep so early after drinking the water? It couldn't be -Did he drug me just to go out to fetch me the gun!? That's not possible, right? He can't possibly do that. I mean, who walks around with sleeping pills?"She asked no one in particular.
She rushed to the window and looked around. There was no sight of him
"But if he had gone out to fetch me the gun, and it's on the table, he should be here.
"Unless, he ran away"
Victoria slumped on the floor... as her eyes swelled up and tears fell down her cheeks.
"He left me alone. They left me... AGAIN
