Chapter 2 - Planning Time

As for one of the houses in one of the northern European cities, notably in the Norwegian city of Trømso, fell silent, and a strange calm dominated it. None of the residents showed any signs of the panic that gripped billions of people around the world. Exactly in one of those houses, a guy named Eric was reading Gretchen Rubin's book "The Happiness Project" in his room.

After some reading, Eric decided to leave the house the next day and vowed not to look through any of the other people's news that were everywhere. This was the night before the last twenty-four hours, according to the time provided by the space agency. Eric also sent his friend Carrie a message asking her to spend the following day with her. He told his sister Ingrid the following morning that he would leave and asked her to care of his parents for the remainder of the day and that he did not want to say goodbye to or inform his family of his plans.

He had an excellent night's sleep the night before, in order to enjoy every second in his next morning.

Eric texted Carrie while he was close to her home.

"'ll be waiting in the rear hall for you."

Carrie went to see him, and since no one else was home at the time and Eric was unable to leave his parents and sister to remain with her the day before, it was simple for her to smuggle herself out of the house unlike him.

As soon as he spotted Carrie, Eric started saying:

"Hello Carrie,"

"Hey Eric!"

"How are you feeling today?"

Even though that was a strange question, Carrie responded to it.

"Not bad, how about you?"

He responded as he turned to face the sky.

"Oh well,"

"How's your family doing?"

He might have been touched by that question, but he didn't seem to care.

"They're alright."

She then questioned him once more:

"Won't you spend the day with them?"

"I would like to, but if today was my last, I would prefer to spend it in a special way,"

Eric said after pausing to consider his response.

" won't let me, anyway."

Then he questioned her:

"Are you ready?"

"What for?"

"To take a trip,"

She wondered:

"Right now?"

"Do you have any other plans for today?"

"So what are your plans for today?

She said without making any prior plans.

"Anything.."

"Like what?!"

She was asked by him again:

"If this was your last moment, what would you most like to do?"

Perhaps it goes without saying that you had hundreds of thoughts at that time when you didn't give an account for the day.

Carrie's family was at that time in Denmark, and since all forms of transportation had been delayed, none of them had been able to visit the others for the previous 48 hours, she also didn't hear any from them which worried her too. Spending time with her family was the only thing that sprang to mind immediately.

"I'm not sure,"

What was the first thought that entered your mind?

She then considered where she would most like to go in a moment of silence.

She hesitated, but she was certain of what she wanted.

She just added,

"Kjæreng Garden "

"Then let's go!"
