Chapter 8 - “The Innkeeper”

"Thank you very much Sebastian and see you tomorrow" saying these words James left the store.

After leaving the store James followed the path Sebastian had suggested to him to reach the inn, when he arrived looking at the sign hanging on the door that said "The Innkeeper".

'Looks like it's here, well, let's go in and see what it's like'

When James passed through the double doors of the entrance, he was faced with a wide atrium, with light illuminating from the corners, a black floor of a stone that James didn't know what it was, but from the looks of it it seemed to be valuable, walls without any decoration and in the background a wooden counter, behind the counter was a tall, slender man, formally dressed in a black suit. When noticing James' entry greeted him.

"Welcome visitor, to "The Innkeeper" I am the innkeeper, we provide numerous services can I know what you are looking for in order to help you better?

'This place seems to be expensive; I don't know if I have the money for it, well, let's see for all purposes I need a place to stay and eat'

"Sebastian from Sir Peter's shop recommended his establishment to me when I asked for a place to sleep with meals included, that was safe and not too expensive"

'Looks like Sebastian wants to recruit this person, well, let's see what he's capable of'

"I can assure you that "The Innkeeper" is one of the safest places in New Hope. Also, the services you asked for are minimal, so the cost won't be too high. May I know how long you intend to use the services of "The Innkeeper"?"

'Let's see, I need to know the city, then I need to earn money to be able to get stronger if possible I would like to have a fixed income, although tomorrow I will have a meeting with a group of adventurers who will hunt goblins I don't know if they will accept me or if I can work with them, so I will also need to make time to possibly find a group to join, to add to this I still have to convert five silvers into real money to be able to survive this month, facing that we go with a month if it's not too expensive'

"I would like to know how much it costs to stay here for a month with two meals included, the room and meals don't need to be anything fancy as long as you have a bed and enough food to last the day I'm satisfied"

"Very well, a simple room with two simple meals a day for a month is a total of ten silver coins"

'I'll run out of money on the first day, well, be it, just by converting the money it will already pay the game, and I'll have money for this month, as a last resort I can always cancel the account, and go to the country of the Merchant Association, convert all the money and repeat this process over and over until I die'

Removing the ten silvers from his coin purse, James handed them to the innkeeper.

"Here's the money"

"Very well, do you want me to show you "The Innkeeper"?

"If you can, I would be grateful, one more thing do you have a map of the city?"

"We are sorry, but we do not have city maps, after all, it is considered a crime for the New World Order to have maps of its territory without their consent, if you want one you will have to go to the admiration office to register and buy it, but I can explain how the city works"

"Then, if I could I would be grateful"

The innkeeper then proceeded to remove a sheet of paper, a quill, and an inkwell from one of the counter drawers. After taking it out he drew with the quill a circle that took up almost the entire sheet of paper then turned to James and spoke.

"New Hope has a circular shape and is divided into seven districts. The first is the central one…" saying this, the innkeeper drew a circle in the middle of the sheet of paper "…which is where all the services related to the New World Order are, whether military, administrative, or economic, it is one of the walled districts and to enter there you have to register in addition to informing the reason and the motive for going there. Then we have the merchant district, which is where all the shops related to the trade are, you can find everything there from slaves, monsters, and beasts to have as pets, of course, there are also normal pets like dogs there…" while he explained this part and drew on the sheet of paper two lines joining the two circles he had drawn before, the innkeeper had a smile on his face "…even the spices and rare metals, in short, it's the place to spend money. The third district is the adventurers' district, which is where we are, it is the district responsible for weapons, inns, information establishments, and mission service establishments." As he explained, the innkeeper made one more line on the sheet of paper. "The next district is the red-light district…" once again while speaking, the innkeeper drew another line on the sheet of paper "…which is where prostitution is located, I recommend you be careful when you go there, it is also where there are more crimes and less security. And finally, we have the three residential districts that are also walled and are divided as follows: next to the first district, we have the noble area, then the middle class, and finally the shantytown next to the city wall." While explaining the last three districts the innkeeper drew three more lines on the paper, but unlike the last ones, these were semicircles connecting the commercial district with the red-light district "Do you have any questions?

"No, thanks for the explanation"
