Chapter 85: The champions are selected

A week have passed and it was time to announce the participants of the Triwizard tournament.

Everyone was looking with intensity at the Goblet of Fire as Dumbledore approached it.

"And now, we begin the selection of champions!" The Headmaster announced and everyone cheered.

The Goblet's fire grew in intensity and changed to blue. A piece of parchment came out of the fire and Dumbledore grabbed it.

"The first champion will be Viktor Krum, from Durmstrang"

After more cheering, the Goblet fired up again and produced another piece of paper.

"The second champion will be Fleur Delacour, from Beauxbatons."

And then the third paper.

"And finally, the third champion will be Cedric Diggory, from Hogwarts."

People at the Hufflepuff table went wild. Cedric stood up and waved around while smiling.

"Champions, with me." The headmaster indicated for the three champions to follow him to a side room for a meeting.

The great hall was filled with students talking loudly and discussing the tournament and the champions.

"Do you think Cedric is going to win?" Hannah asked.

"Of course, He is going to win!. Who else is going to? The brute and the blond tramp have no chance" An older Hufflepuff girl who had an obvious crush on Cedric said.

"Hey come on. Viktor Krum is not a brute, He seems like a nice guy." Susan defended.

"Oh?, seems like someone has taken a liking to the Bulgarian. But I'm sorry to say that you have a lot of competition, He is always surrounded by fangirls."Another female student said.

Susan blushed fiercely. "I don't have a crush on him, I just admire him as a Quidditch player."

Harry, who was barely listening to their conversation, notice Hannah make a sad expression. He wondered what was that about, but didn't say anything.

"What about you? Luna. Do you think Cedric will win?" Zacharias Smith asked her.

"As long as the veela doesn't win, I don't care!" Luna said while jabbing her knife at the turkey.

Smith paled a bit and promptly went to talk with someone else.

Harry noticed that Luna seems to have great dislike for the french veela, for some reason. But He had better things to worry about at the moment.

Severus snape was having a terrible week. After the death of Barty Crouch junior. He went asking around to find who was the last person that saw the 'fake Moody'. And several students confirmed that Potter had stayed behind to speak with Him.

It was confirmed that Barty was hit with an Imperio curse that forced him to free Moody and then commit suicide.

Potter was the last person who saw Barty before that. But when He shared this information with the Headmaster and the Aurors, they all dismissed it, saying that it would be impossible for Harry Potter, the hero of Magical Britain to do something like using an Unforgivable curse.

"I know He is hiding something, and I am going to find out what it is!"

He had that feeling since He saw Potter in his first year. The boy seemed too perfect to be true, too educated, too mature, well dressed.

He looked more like a pureblood heir than Draco Malfoy did. And then, deaths started to occur…

Draco was the first, the culprit was never found, but it was not a secret that Draco had antagonized Potter many times before.

Quirrell was killed by Potter, but the Headmasters believe that it was actually the protections left there by Lily that killed Quirrell, so the boy was not to blame.

Then the librarian was killed by the basilisk, and Potter saved the day by slaying the beast like the hero they all believe He is. But Snape was sure that Potter was more involved in the release of the basilisk than He revealed.

In the third year, more death follow. But at least He can believe that for once, Potter had nothing to do with the attack on Hogsmeade, since He knew that it was Voldemorts doing.

And now… Barty's mysterious death.

Snape sat at his desk, waiting for his next class to arrive. This next class was for fourth-year Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, which means Potter will be there.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The instructions are on the blackboard."

After the class started, Snape sat back down and started to pay attention to Potter, looking for an opportunity.

Snape then noticed Potter making a small mistake and approached his table.

"Potter, You need to crush the bitterroot before you cut them!. Five points from Hufflepuff for your incompetence."

Snape waited for Potter to look him in the eyes with his wand ready.

"Seriously?..." Harry looked at Snape but noticed too late the wand in his hand.

"legitimacy" Snape whispered softly and went on to Harry's mind.

He was promptly crushed by the most powerful mind shield He has ever felt. Snape was pushed out of Harry's mind and fell backward on the floor.

"Professor!" Several students went to help Snape up.

'That's bad...It seems like I lower my guard. I didn't have time to plan a defense and acted by instinct at the attack. But why did He suddenly try to enter my mind?, it makes no sense.' Harry wondered.

Snape was in a lot of pain, but He was satisfied with the result. He managed to get Potter by surprise and showed his true defenses, instead of those fake memories Potter always uses to pretend that He had no defense.

'Now I have proof that Potter has been hiding a lot of things. Those defenses are not something any student should possibly have, no matter how talented.'

But, He knew that this will not be enough to convince the Headmaster. He needs more…and He will get it.
