Chapter 56: Profesor Remus Lupin

The man in front of Harry seems to compose himself before speaking again.

"I'm sorry. I am Remus Lupin, a new teacher at Hogwarts." Remus smiled softly.

Harry stared at him for a moment.

"You referred to me by my name. Have we met before?."

Remus looked down and scratched his head.

"Ah…yes, but you were too young to remember me. I was a good friend with your parents, we went to Hogwarts together."

Harry looked impassive. He had no interest in his parent's past whatsoever.

"I see. Well, It was nice to meet you, professor. Now I better go back to my seat."

Lupin was taken aback by how indifferent Harry acted after revealing He was friends with his parents. Orphans normally would want to know more about their deceased family.

Harry started to turn around when Lupin called for him.

"Harry…Mr. Potter wait" Lupin corrected himself. "Did you happen to see what happened to the dementors?. I know that several of them entered the train and then, they all suddenly left."

Harry shrugged.

"I don't know professor. I'm just a third-year student." He then turned and left, leaving behind a very baffled Remus Lupin.

After the opening ceremony and the sorting was over, the year was declared officially started and everyone was allowed to start eating their dinners.

Luna had to seat alone at the Ravenclaw table because during the opening feast every student was forced to seat at their house table.

The other Ravenclaws thew some glances at her because it was a rare occurrence to see her eating there, but no one dared to say anything.

After Harry put a stop to Cho Chang and her two followers, no one bothered Luna again. It helps the fact that Luna stopped speaking about imaginary creatures, and if that was not enough, everyone knew that She was close friends with Harry Potter, who killed a giant basilisk the previous year.

So, no one in Hogwarts was stupid enough to mess with Luna and just decided to leave her alone.

Back at the Hufflepuff table, Susan, Hannah, and Harry were discussing the Headmaster's announcement about the Ministry decided to send dementors to Hogwarts in order to protect the students from the dangerous criminals who escape Azkaban, especially Sirius Black.

"I can't believe my aunt didn't tell me about this. She should have given me a warning." Susan said, clearly upset.

"I'm sure she had a reason, Susan." Hannah said softly.

"Or She just didn't know. For the things I have heard about the current Minister, it seems like the type of person who would do something like this without notification." Harry added.

Susan seems pensive for a moment.

"That…may actually be true. My aunt would often complain about the Minister and his decisions." Susan considered.

"See? there you go!" Hannah exclaimed. She then turned her head towards the teacher's table.

"Hey, have you seen the new Defense teacher? He is kinda cute." Hannah tried to change the topic of conversation.

Susan stared at Hannah in disbelief.

"Again Hannah?, what's with you and Defense teachers?." Susan asked.

Hannah was taken by surprise.

"What!?, is not that!. I never liked Quirrell...as for Lockhart…well, He may be a fraud, but You can't deny that He is a handsome man." Hannah defended herself.

"mmm, maybe not Quirrell but I do remember you saying something about Professor Snape being kinda handsome." Susan teased.

"I did not say that!." Hannah was getting as red as a tomato. She turned to face Harry.

"Harry, what do you think?." She just wanted to get the attention away from her.

Harry stared intently at Hannah.

"I do not find professor Snape attractive if that is what you are asking me."

Susan started laughing and Hannah got more red.

"No!, not that! I mean what do you think about the new teacher!" Hannah managed to get out the words.

Harry looked at Remus, who was currently eating in silence at the teacher's table. He noticed that Snape would throw some nasty looks in his direction once in a while.

"He seems more competent than the last one, but we will have to wait and see."

—---------------------------------------------------

During that week, they would have two classes of Defense against the dark arts. The first one was your typical introductory class, the second one was more interesting.

Remus was currently standing in front of an old wardrobe that would shake every so often.

Students were whispering, trying to deduce what was inside there.

"Can anyone tell me what a Boggart is?" Remus asked his class.

Some Ravenclaw boy was the first one to raise his hand first and the professor motioned him to answer.

"The boggart is a shape-shifting being that takes the shape of the observant worst fear."

"Correct, five points to Ravenclaw. Now I want everyone to form a line right in front of the wardrobe. " The professor said.

The students started to form the line, Harry, Susan and Hannah ended up around the middle of the queue.

"I'm scared, I don't want to see that thing," Hannah said worriedly.

"Is fine, the only thing that the boggart can do is change shapes to scare you, It is incapable of hurting you for real," Harry said.

Even after hearing that Hannah was still worried. Susan had kept her mouth shut but by the look on her face, it was obvious that she was not having a good time either.

It was time for the first student in the line to face the boggart. It was a girl from Ravenclaw.

Lupin gave the students some instructions and then pointed his wand towards the wardrobe.

When Professor Lupin opened it, a black creature with no defined shape came out of it. It stood for a moment in front of the student before something started to happen.

The creature started to change shape and in a few seconds, there was a giant menacing rat in front of the student, who was now shaking.

"Remember what I have told you, focus on the image and say the words," Lupin instructed.

The girl composed herself and pointed her wand at the creature.

"Riddikulus!"

The giant rat was turned into a tiny pink mouse who seem to squeak in anger at the girl and the class started laughing.

Lupin clapped his hands and smiled.

"Wonderfully done!." He motioned for the girl to go to one side and the following student came forward.

"Alright, next."
