Chapter 7

Reporting and naming

Hogwarts, Dumbledore's office

"Come in my friend" A gentle voice was heard as the gargoyle statue that protects the entrance to the headmaster's office moved aside.

Hagrid goes up the stairs and enters the office. Inside he could see the headmaster sitting behind his desk. Professor Snape and professor Mcgonagall were sitting at each side of the desk.

Hagrid approached them and after exchanging their greetings he says. "I just came back from the shopping trip with Arry. What a great lad, very polite and mature for his age, but a bit quiet."

"Humph, He is probably just a spoiled brat, like his father was," Snape said, with a snarky grin.

"Severus, don't judge the boy before you meet him. McGonagall remarked before turning to look at Hagrid. "Tell me Hagrid, you were at his house, ehmm , the muggles. How did they seem to you? did it seem they are treating him right?" She showed a worried face.

"Come on Minerva, I'm sure young Harry is treated fine there. They are his family after all" Dumble claimed with a confident smile.

"I want to hear it from Hagrid, Albus," McGonagall said firmly and Dumbledore backed down, allowing Hagrid to speak.

"Well, I was only there for a few minutes, mind you. But it seems they treated the lad with a lot of respect. And, well , I don't know much about muggles clothes, but the ones he was wearing seemed very fancy and expensive." Hagrid said, trying to recall the details of his visit and inform them.

"I TOLD YOU!, he is a spoiled brat" Snape declared loudly.

Dumbledore seemed very surprised for a moment. "Wait, he was well treated and well dressed? that-" He then realized that the other three occupants of the room were looking at him. "I mean, that's fantastic!. Wonderful even!. See Minerva?, I told you it was a good idea leaving him there." Once their attention was off him he sighed in relief, but then his expression grew serious for a moment.

'This is unexpected. Harry was supposed to learn humility there. So then he would appreciate his trips to Hogwarts even more, as they would be an escape from the mistreatment and chores. But this changes things. He will be more difficult to shape into the savior we need if he is too confident in himself. I will need to test him when he comes to Hogwarts.'

The other three were talking among themselves and didn't notice Dumbledore's moment of reflection.

Later that day, number 4 Privet Drive

Harry was currently in his room, looking at his owl.

'I never planned to have an owl...maybe a snake, a big one. But not a pure white owl. It doesn't really go with my image.' The owl looked at Harry and made a noise like it was trying to communicate something. Harry could feel there was something unique about this owl. He could notice intelligence in those eyes.

"Very well, you will be my owl then. I should give a you name." He then started to think about an appropriate name.

'In my previous life, i only had two pets. My first one was a Burmese python I got in my sixth year of Hogwarts called Nagini. Unfortunately, she was killed by a loose curse during a fight with some Aurors.

The next one was some kind of magical boa, i never got the name of the breed, but she was magnificent. A lot more clever than a normal snake, and this one even had a lot of magic resistance so she would not suffer the same fate as the last one. I named her Nagini II. She was still alive and well during my downfall at the Potter's house that cursed night. I wonder if any of my followers remember to feed her…'

He stopped his thoughts and looked at the owl again.

"Yes, I remember some of my most daring followers dared to say I had poor naming sense, but to them I say, well I am the one that came up with the name of Lord Voldemort which was a perfect anagram of my real name and it also had some other meaning i forgot. But, there is no doubt it was a great name nonetheless. So i think i know the perfect name for you. Your name shall be-"
