Chapter 82: The fourth year
Compared to the last year, the train trip was very quiet and serene this time around.
They once again entered the halls of Hogwarts. Susan and Hannah made plans with Luna for the next day before She left for the Ravenclaw table.
The trio took their seats and looked at the teacher's table.
"There is an empty spot at the table." Hannah pointed out.
"That's the spot belonging to the D.A.D.A teacher." Harry pointed out.
Susan gave a playful smile. "Harry, do you think Hannah is going to be smitten with this year's Defense teacher too?"
"Hey!" Hannah gave Susan a light punch on her shoulder.
Suddenly, the doors of the great hall opened with a loud bang, revealing a big man, standing there.
Then He started to walk toward the teacher's table at a brisk pace while looking around constantly.
"If He is the new teacher…I doubt it." Harry said.
The murmurs in the hall started to get louder after seeing the strange man with a metal leg and a fake eye.
"That's Alastor Moody!, what is He doing here?" Susan exclaimed.
"That's Mad-Eye Moody?. I heard some wild tales about Him from my dad." Cedric Diggory, who was sitting close by said.
"You guys think that He is going to the new Defense teacher?" Another Hufflepuff asked.
That question was quickly answered when Moody took a seat right next to the Headmaster.
Dumbledore then approached the podium for his opening speech.
"Welcome to Hogwarts once again. For this year we have something very special prepared. But first, I want to introduce your new Defense against the Dark arts teacher for this year, and a good al friend of mine, Alastor Moody."
The students started to clap and Moody stood up for a moment to give a nod before sitting down once again.
"The next announcement I want to give is a difficult one, but I'm afraid that there will be no Quidditch coup this year."
The entire hall erupted in chaos.
"WHAT?" Susan yelled.
"No Quidditch?" Cedric's face became pale as a piece of paper.
"SILENCE" Dumbledore's voice resounded over the entire hall and everything grew quiet all of the sudden.
"Allow me to explain. First, I said that there will be no Quidditch Cup. I did not say that you will not be allowed to play some games, whenever possible. Second, the reason for this is as follows. This year, Hogwarts has been chosen to host the Triwizard tournament.
Dumbledore paused for a moment and let murmurs in the hall to die down before continuing.
"Some of you may have read about it. The Triwizard Tournament is an ancient tradition among Wizards schools in Europe. It is a competition between three champions from different schools. In two weeks, we will be receiving students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. I expect you all to make them feel at home."
Dumbledore made a signal to McGonagall and this one took the sorting hat from the table.
"And now, let's proceed with the sorting."
Back at the Hufflepuff table, the feelings were a mix between disappointment and exitement.
"That's not fair. I was going to be in the main team, this year." Susan complained.
"Well…but you heard the Headmaster, You can still play some games. There is just no cup to win, that's all." Hannah tried to cheer up her friend.
"Just think of it like training for next year," Harry added.
"Hey Ced, are you going to participate in the tournament?" A sixth-year Puff said.
"You guys think I should? I don't know," Cedric said, but He was obviously glad for the mention.
"Of course Ced. You are one of the best students in all of Hogwarts, who else can represent our school?" A Puff girl said.
Cedric gave Harry a quick glance but said nothing.

The next day it was time for their first class of the year, Potions with Ravenclaw.
Susan was sitting next to Hannah while Harry was at the next table with a boy named Michael Corner.
"So…Hannah, I guess this year's crush is Moody uh?" Susan teased.
"Susan!, for Merlin's sake, don't even joke about that" Hannah flushed a bit.
"Well, I don't know. He may be better than professor Snape." Susan whispered to Hannah.
Hannah rolled her eyes. "Susan, for the last time. I do not find Professor Snape attractive!" She said a bit louder than she intended.
"Well, Miss Abbott. That is good to know, I'm a bit old for you." Snape's voice was heard from the back of the class.
Hannahs's face turned bright red and she covered her face with her hands.
"Oh…" She started mumbling something.
The whole class started laughing.
Snape walked to the front of the class.
"Oh and, Miss Abbott…that would be detention for yelling in class."

Two weeks later, early in the morning, The Headmaster, the teachers, and a big group of students were at the entrance of the school to welcome the foreign students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.
The French students were the first ones to arrive. They came in a big carriage pulled by several winged horses.
"Wow, I always wanted a pegasus. They are so beautiful." Luna commented.
"I read that they only allow females to ride them," Hannah said.
"I can't believe that Harry is missing this. What is He doing anyways?" Susan asked.
"He told me that He wanted to do some practice," Luna answered.
"He is always studying or training…He needs to get a hobby." Susan chuckled.
A loud splash sound was heard, and a gigantic ship rose up from underwater.
"That's Durmstrang," One student said.
"Wow, so cool!" Another one commented.
The student from Durmstrang got off the ship and started to walk in an orderly fashion towards the entrance.
Susan gasped when She saw a familiar face.
"That's Viktor Krum!" She pointed with her finger.
"Oh, you are right, that Bulgaria's seeker, " Hannah said.
When they were passing by, Viktor started to look in the direction of the Hogwarts students and when He saw Susan, He paused for a moment before continuing.
