Chapter 1 - Chapter one

I wake up on time as usual and quickly fight they urge to stay in bed. I hurry to the shower before anyone in the house uses it, I hate using the bathroom when other people who I don't know use it.

I let out a sigh as they could water runs against my body. You would think my body would be used to the cold water by now. I shake my head to the thought.

I quickly close the tap and leave for my room, where I fashionably take my time knowing full well it is on my side.

I grab a history book in hope of learning a few facts but I'm unable to focus on a thing. In conclusion, I've resorted to looking around my room, it is rather small with navy blue walls and different academic, car, shoe and sports chats on the walls.

A routine cop car sounds with an ambulance right behind it. The area we live in is not the safest, it is located next to a gang area, the sound of cops and ambulances is apart of my daily routine.

My six o'clock alarm goes off, giving me a signal to make my way to the kitchen if one could call it that to have my breakfast, where my mother Laura is in lingerie... inappropriate lingerie... very inappropriate lingerie... extremely inappropriate lingerie...

"Laura can you put on a robe something," it comes out more of a statement then a question.

"And hide all that hot, dirty, baddy, sexy sweet honey, mommy, banging body, never," Lee, Laura's boyfriend answers me. The first day I met Lee I thought he was gay from his slang, clothes and body gestures.

"I was speaking to Laura and stop copying wrong Cardi B lyrics! and don't you have your own house Lee?" I deliberately ask, if someone just met us they would think Lee and I were related if not for Lee exhibiting Korean characteristics because of our constant arguments about topics with little to no information.

"Someone it's touchy this morning, moon day?" He causally says opening the slightly rusty drawers.

"Lenshina..." he looks away from the box of cereal in his hand and turns to me, "You need to get yourself a boyfriend to try and get rid of your bad ora, that you constantly have because not even the virgin Mary will save you from so much negativity," he dramatically says placing his hand on his heart and shakes his head making his platinum blond hair bounce.

"The both of you are making my head ache," Laura snaps rubbing her temples. Lee quickly rushes to her side with me deciding I can't take anymore and leave for my room.

"Lenshina! Lenshina!" loud calls arise from the street, I carelessly throw the history book and rush for the window to see Kelly, the only truly presentable friend I have, that is if you ignore tattoos and piercings. I quickly signal for Kelly that I am on my way but Kelly has never been one to wait and so she continues.

"Lenshina can you get that bitch friend of yours to shut up!" Laura angrily screams at me as usual, which is weird because we live on a noisy street.

I hastily grab my bag and the history book, not before mentally saying 'the things we have to go through Lincoln' to the cover of the book in my hand.

Before running out of the door, Laura calls for me, "Lenshina please always be a good girl do not let people like that bitch friend of yours Kelly to influence you..." just then Lee rushes to Laura's side and whispers something in her ear.

"Here," she says placing a silver crucifix in my hand and hugs me, "keep it safe my mother gave it to me," Laura tries to hide her emotions by awkwardly coughing.

I feel a foreign feeling from all the affection. Lee is the second one to hug me but its kind of normal for him to display so much emotion.

"Bye mom," very few times have I ever referred to Laura as mom.

"What took you so long?!" Kelly whines as I approach and all I do is murmur a faint sorry, wondering what was wrong with Lee and Laura.

I'm currently in the middle of my chemistry class, looking at my periodic table, when...

"Do we have a miss Hartley present here?!" A man, probably one of the teachers, asks and before I can answer one of my classmates does, "Yes. The hoodie bitch in the back," she says leaning forward probably so that the man may have full view of her breasts.

WHORE.

"Language miss Hills and Hartley please follow me."

Wondering why the hell I am being lead to the direction of the principal's office, the man stops and opens the door to the office revealing the principal as usual drinking his signature decaffeinated coffee.

A woman dressed in all black suit is seated to the opposite right of the principal, two men are standing and they are both dressed in black, is today the National day for black, and a police office.

"Miss Hartley, please take a sit" the lady offers even if it's not her office.

"This is about your mother, Laura Hartley..." she looks at me with a soft worrying look so I signal her with my hands to continue.

"...She is on the run for theft with her boyfriend Lee Wu," everyone in the room direct all their attention at me as I show little to no reaction from the news or hope I show little reaction.

"Miss Hartley do you know where they maybe?" The officer asks, I shake my head to answer, feeling a bit speechless that she left me... Laura left me... My mother left me.

I finally realize why they were acting so weird this morning.

"You are still under age and have already been placed in the foster system, you will be living with the Weston family," the lady says standing up interrupting me from fully processing the information.

Everyone causally begins to head out like my life hasn't just been shaken. The principal signals for me to follow and my legs act on their own.

A black Porsche is waiting, Porsche? One of the two men enters the driver's seat the other opens the door, I turn around having no business here and run for the school doors or I at least try but the man who is probably six feet easily catches up and drags me to the car.
