Chapter 10 - Volume 1, Chapter 10 - "The Raid" Pt 3

(Back to Fujiwara Suisei)

[CLANK CLANK CLANK]

As the two clash their blades against one another, the others in the warehouse can feel the fight. They had successfully subjugated the rest of the Nosferatu thanks to the help of the Manifesters. Namely, Nicolas Arce and Dronikus Delrio. Yagami Dai assisted them. There were few minor casualties, thankfully.

[CLANK]

As we locked blades with each other once more, I took a good look at her eyes. Yoru's eyes were not filled with malice, but instead with grief. I too, had those eyes all those years ago when I lost my sister. She was my twin.

We looked identical, nearly the same. We were with our mother. She was a very kind and loving person. Our father was one of the 3 generals our country had. Of course, he wouldn't be here as much, but we were in our home that was guarded by skilled fighters, or so our mother said.

Our older sister was training at the academy while we attended regular school that taught us history. I wanted to be just like her. Sarah as well. We did everything together.

Drawing.

Exercising.

Sleeping.

Everything.

Everything was just as we wanted it to be. We had everything. Until–

[WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!]

The alarm that told everyone that defenses had been breached. Well, we had no idea. At least me and Sarah didn't. We were playing outside under supervision by our guards. They told us to go inside with our mother because it'd be dangerous.

We were hiding in our basement which had been reinforced with the material that can mimic the hardness of some of the world's hardest metals. It was pretty much a bunker.

We waited for quite a while. It was very noisy outside. But, something was wrong. I felt it. I looked around and couldn't find Sarah. She was missing. It was probably when we were sleeping.

I checked the door, and it was slightly opened. I wanted to tell our mother, but I didn't want her to worry about us as she was ill at the time. I stepped out of the basement and looked around. I couldn't see any of the guards that were standing watch and then–

[BOOOM]

A loud thunderous boom erupted outside, and there they were. They were bloodied and had been impaled by large spikes protruding from the ground with mini craters everywhere.

"Aaaaaaaaaah!"

That was my sister! It came from the second floor. Once I found her, she was curled up into a ball frightened while a monster with two horns protruded from its temples.

"INTERESTING!" It said, "SO YOU WERE TWINS! THIS WILL BE FUN!"

The monster raised its hand and formed a spike so sharp that it could draw blood by the simplest poke.

"I'VE BEEN ORDERED TO KILL YOU, WELL, BOTH OF YOU", the monster raised its spike and thrusted it towards Sarah.

Me, overflowing with emotions and wanting to save Sarah, awakened my Manifest. A bright glow enveloped both me and Sarah, blinding the monster long enough for me to grab my scared little sister. She was in shock.

"AAAAARGH, MY EYES! YOU TOOK MY EYESIGHT! I'LL KILL YOU BY RIPPING YOU TO SHREDS", the monster roared in clasping its eyes while we hurried down the stairs.

Our mother ran up the stairs as we descended. She probably heard us. She was sleeping in our basement bunker.

"Fujiwara! Sarah!" She called our names while hugging us.

"RAAARGH"

"Mommy!" Sarah had wept out.

"Papa's on his way okay?"

[PIERCE]

"Cough, Cough"

The monster had pierced a hole through our mother's stomach. She fell down the stairs onto the first floor. She bled out from the hole in her stomach.

"MOMMY!" Sarah started to cry. I was in shock. I looked up the stairs and found the monster standing there. Menacingly.

"NOW IT'S YOUR TURN BRAT" The monster said, reading another spike.

[PIERCE]

Blood. There was just blood. My sister Sarah was impaled. I just sat there, staring in shock.

It was now 1 week later. I was discharged from the hospital. So many things had happened. I was too weak. It was then I came upon a room that had a boy sitting on a hospital bed. He had blue hair.

"Um hello?" I called out to the boy. I had seen other children here, but he had bandages covering his whole chest. He was different. He turned to my direction. He had no life in those eyes. He went through something that changed his life.

I was called to my father, so I had to leave but couldn't help noticing the grief that he had. He was just like me.

(Present Day)

[CLANK CLANK CLANK CLAAAAAANK]

"So you can still catch up to me! Although just barely!" Yoru said kicking me away. "Cmon, use your manifest! Don't you wanna kill me!" She went in for another swing. I dodged just barely again and countered with my own attack knocking her on the ground.

"I'm not here to kill you. You were someone I could connect to. I don't mean physically or mentally. It's–"

"Spiritually. Down to the very soul. Right?" Yoru interrupted while getting back up on her feet. "I'll tell you something that will change the way you view the world. And possibly others as well."

I nodded.

"Have you ever wondered what the world would have looked like if things hadn't happened?"

"I don't get it."

"Well, I come from another world. Very similar, yet different from yours. I call them parallel worlds. You feel connected to me because we are the same person, yet different. We have the same soul but we think differently."

Different worlds. Different Me's? Seeing as Yoru looks like me, does make more sense now. But to think there were other worlds like ours.

"I know this is a lot to take in but, I want you to do one thing for me. Can you do me a favor?"

"Do you a favor?"

"Yes. I don't have much time left, so I would like you to kill me."

"What? No! I came here to get you back!"

"There can't be two parallel versions of us in the same world. One of us will disappear."

"So why do you want me to kill you?"

"I was told this has to happen for the later future. A future where this world will finally be destroyed."

"Who told you you had to?"

"We did. Another parallel version of us did."

"This doesn't make sense. I can't do this."

"That's what I said too. And she was right. The end is nearing. You have to kill me. Now."

"Do I have a choice" is the question I am asking myself. "Fine. I may not know what will happen in the future, but please forgive me."

I readied myself to deal her the blow. She was ready to die. I couldn't believe that I would be ending another's life. If Seiryu was here, then– sigh.

I pierced my blade through Yoru's heart. And as she quietly passed, she started glowing a bright light. She started dissipating into light particles or something of the sort. There was a huge ball of light in the middle of it.

At first, it stayed afloat for a few seconds and then gravitated towards me. It went inside me, imbuing itself into me. It felt cold, yet warm. And before I knew it, I had lost consciousness.
