Chapter 30 - Chapter 23 (Part 1)

The officers were checking on the records of every businessman in the country. Samantha entered the building with a cup of coffee in her hand. The officers stopped what they were doing and greeted her. She did not bother to give them a bow or greeted them. She wanted to get to work straight away. She entered her big cozy office. She placed the coffee on the clear glass table. She took a seat on her rolling chair and started work immediately. There was so much work to do. She was looking at the work computer. There was an email from the other Head Officers. She clicked on it and read it word for word.

Officer Lau, you have spent ten years with the Yanwu case and found nothing. The rest of the Head Officers of Shanghai had come to an agreement that you have one month to solve this case. If you don't solve this case during the time, we will decide to dismiss this case or give it to someone else.

Samantha did not need to read the other part of the email. She closed the email and then relaxed her back on the chair. Now her higher authorities were given her a month to solve this case. If she did not bring Yanwu to the authorities, the case would be closed immediately. She already knew what they were going to do. That also meant she would lose her position and not be able to see her daughter. Samantha rather loses her position. Finding her daughter was more important to her. But she did not have the power to bring down Yanwu. There was so much pressure put on her and her officers. One month was not a lot of time.

Samantha was looking at the reports of businessmen. She was happy that she arrested one businessman. She arrested more than twelve men but they were still unconscious. But that was not enough. More businessmen were working with Yanwu. Not to mention that Yanwu had a drug company. Samantha's mind was scrambling everywhere. She did not know what to do right now. All she wanted was a drink, bring down Yanwu, and bring her daughter back. She placed her hands on her head and removed herself away from work. She just remembered something immediately. White Jaguar did tell her about a package. Samantha removed her hands from her face and started looking for the package. There was no sign of any envelopes.

"I thought you didn't want to work with me.", a woman said.

Samantha looked up straight away to look at the door. There was no one by the door. Then she looked at the front. "Oh my.", she flinched and blocked her face immediately. White Jaguar was sitting on the visitor's seat with her legs on the desk. "Don't do that again.", Samantha hissed.

"Why? I love scaring people. That's also part of my job.", she answered in a chilled manner.

Samantha removed her hands from her face and then looked at White Jaguar. Samantha was breathing quite heavily. "How did you manage to get past my officers without them noticing you?"

"They didn't care. They allowed me in."

Samantha's face turned red after hearing that "I told them that they shouldn't allow anyone into my office without letting me know!", she shouted and stamped her hand on the table.

"Samantha, calm down. I jumped into your office by the window. Shouting is not good for you at this moment.", White Jaguar eased her anger.

Samantha was feeling better after hearing that. "I'm guessing you know that I only have a month to solve this case.", she spoke normally.

"Yep, but we can tackle the case together in less than two weeks."

"White Jaguar, I'm sorry about last night. I'm just missing my daughter.", Samantha was looking sad.

"Understandable. Is she in another country?"

"She went missing over six months ago."

White Jaguar looked at her for a moment. "Describe her."

"She had long dark black hair with slightly tanned skin. She is about average in terms of height.", Samantha explained.

That did not give White Jaguar enough information. "Do you have a picture of her and what's her name?", she asked.

Samantha took out her phone. "Her name is Lau Ling. Before it was Huang Ling. My husband and I are divorced. My daughter and I went back to my original surname.", she explained. She saw White Jaguar a picture of her daughter.

White Jaguar bent forward and took a closer look. "Wow, she does look a lot like you. Send me the picture."

"What are you going to do?"

"I'm going to put this picture on social media so the entire community will help you.", White Jaguar.

"No they won't, my daughter went missing six months ago. No one will be interested.", Samantha stopped her.

"Don't worry, I have an idea.", she got up from the chair. "Oh yeah, here's the package you were looking for earlier.", she placed a big black folder on the desk.

Samantha took the folder and started removing the papers. She took out a set of papers. "These are put according to the departments."

"Everything is there. The one set of papers you are holding is a whole business. There are over two hundred sets of these papers."

Samantha looked at her with so much shock. "I have to go through two hundred of these!", she shouted.

"Eish, don't shout. My ears are really sensitive. If one burst, you will have to compensate for that.", White Jaguar was fooling around.

"Stop fooling around. How am I going to do all of this? I don't want my officers to know that I'm working with White Jaguar."

"Allow someone who is not an officer to work with you.", White Jaguar suggested.

Samantha was finding this unbelievable. "This who will be smart and reliable enough to help me?"

"I think you already know the person."

Before Samantha could ask her more questions, White Jaguar already left. White Jaguar used the window to exit from the building. Samantha relaxed her back on the chair. Then she looked at the big black folder. She ended up smiling while looking at the folder. She almost forgot about sending the picture to White Jaguar. She grabbed her phone and started typing on it. Her smile became bigger while she was typing because she also found the right person to help her. She also had a good feeling that China would come back to normal.
