Chapter 5 - Betrayal??

Time flies so fast when you are in a middle of something that you like most. It was already dusk and darkness was settling in so fast. I got worried that the ladies would be late in getting back. At the same time I did not want them to leave.

Vicky and I had spent the rest od the evening getting to know each other. I learnt that she has been singing since childhood and had clearly developed her talent extensively. But she lacked exposure. This was her first time in studio. She had written a number of lyrics developed by herself and was hoping to produce them.

Belindah and Caroline were her supporters but who also had great singing skills and the trio made up a good band. They had been friends all along their high school days and were planning to launch this musical career together.

Victoria sang a few of the songs she had composed. I got a gist of them all and chose one that we would be working on. I liked the composition as it sounded more appealing and had great creativity in it. The song was a contemporary tune touching on vices in the society that dragged down development. Her lines hit the corrupt leaders mercilessly and made a strong appeal to the public to take responsibility and deal with such morons.

I felt that this song would go viral within days after its release and would help bring Vicky to the limelight. She was coming into the industry at such a rife time. Politics was in the air and politicians were all over the town holding campaigns for various elective seats. But most of those who were vying for these were notable perpetrators of serious economic crimes. Some had even active cases in the courts.

This upcoming artist had so artistically captured all those individuals without mentioning names and had applied a contemporary tone to it too. Now her music would have a wider audience. It would immediately become teens-favorite because of its lyrical flow and type of beats. It would also be highly welcomed in dancehalls and discos.

I explained all these possibilities to Victoria and she seemed astonished at her own work. She was happy that I could point out such opportunities to her.

"Yes I saw the evils in the society but I didn't know that I could have such an impact through music." She explained, "To me music was just a means of passing out my feelings!"

"You are correct Vicky. But through passing that message is how you impact the society! That is how we bring change! Music can bring a revolution!!" I addedl

I then decided to change the flow of the conversation and bring it to what had happened earlier between us.

"Vicky, I am sorry for what I did back there. I am sorry." I stammered.

"Why?"

" You see, I don't want it to appear like I took advantage of you. I really liked you from the very first moment I saw you." Now I was sputtering like a faulty tap. I didn't know what she was thinking for she just looked at me blankly.

"If it does not please you I can end it right here. Please accept my apologies, please."

To my surprise, Vicky laughed the sweetest laugh I had ever heard.

"Stop panicking Ed!" She simply said.

Then she came closer again and this time she was the one iniating the kiss. In the middle of the process she stopped and said, " I like you a great deal Ed!"

Just then her phone rang.

I reluctantly let her go. She picked it up and looking at the screen, her eyes suddenly lit up in panick and shock. Trembling she pressed the receiver.

"Belindah and Caroline are here, where the hell are you?" It was a stern male voice from the other end.
