Chapter 8 - A FRIENDLY POSSESSION I

A few hours after their conversations with their parents, the three friends scheduled a conference call to plan how to bring an end to the Enlightener's Club. They believed that Legion created the group in order to recruit these innocent students from New World High.

So, what do you guys suppose we should do? I'm telling you, if we allow this to go on any longer, the New World will be left in ruins, and not only New World High! " "I agree," Elena said, supporting But you all know we cannot go and say 'hello Perry, we've come to crush the party'. It doesn't work that way. We'll need a disguise, or ears on the inside. " "About ears on the inside, I think I can do that." Jason chipped in, " I mean, she doesn't know that I can shape shift, does she?" "And her baby demons are too dumb to recognize it too. Come to think of it, what if they know it's you? I mean, spirits can see spiritual stuff, right? " Everyone went quiet for a few seconds at what Aires asked. A feeling of concern began to be directed at Jason. I've heard this saying that a witch knows a fellow witch when she sees her. Elena replied, "But I think it's just some made-up crap." Jason said with a laugh. Aires began to feel concerned for her male friend. She knew he was the type that would make a joke about important things instead of, well, taking them more seriously. "I'm our best option right now," Jason insisted. "They didn't realize a swap the first time; they won't notice it this time either." Okay, Jase, I'm just being careful. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you, "Aires replied. As she took the phone off her cheek, she whispered a prayer, "Please help us God," and restored the phone to her ear.

"I had no idea my wife cared this much about me," Jason joked, "young man, don't push your luck!" Aires said, causing her friends to laugh. " But I'm honestly doing this; at least we should; it's what we have as an only plan," Jason persisted. "Okay dude, fine, you are." Elena replied. She then heard a knock on the door, so she jumped off the bed to go and see who was there. "Dad!" She shouted, wrapping her arms so tightly around him and doing the same in return. Elena's heart was excited, but she quickly remembered the vision she had seen a few weeks ago, in which her father became possessed, and the excitement began to fade. "You don't look so happy to see me, Ellie," he said,as her grip on him loosened and she took a step backwards, revealing the joy turned to tears. "What? "No! " She tried to defend herself, "Nobody gives a killer hug like that if not for the joy of missing you. I've missed you so much. " She hugged him again in order to not raise suspicions, but was she going to succeed in hiding her feelings of fear from him for long? "We miss you too, Mr. Morrison!" "Jason!" he shouted, ruining a father-daughter moment. "Is that Jason?" Elena's father asked, and she took the phone to his ear and said, "Who else would do that if not him? Buenos Aires is on the line too. "Hey young man, how is it going? Did you two take good care of my princess for me while I was away? "How are you doing?"Elena's father was like a friend and a father to the two; he could invite them over for dinner, give them words of advice to feed their curious minds, and even more, he took them out to the zoo and mall on holidays, so the connection existed strongly. "I'm fine, sir. We give thanks to God for bringing you home safely. Aires responded politely, "The Princess' babysitting was difficult this time, since she's growing fat by the second, thanks to us. That makes you owe a thousand dollars. " Jason joked, making everyone laugh. " Thanks for the prayer, and thank you both for taking care of her. I heard some things happened, but that's for later. I'll pay the thousand, but be sure to bring back a change of nine hundred ninety-D's. " Mr. Morrison replied and said good night to them all as he departed from the room for them to continue their conversation.

"So now, back to business." Aires prompted, "So now one way of getting information is through Jason, right?" "Yeah," they all agreed, "but we must also think about how we can catch up with class. We were missing for a week, "Elena said," I want to suggest that in order not to just sit back and leave it all on Jason, we can get another set of ears on the inside. We should befriend other members of the group and get more from them. By more, I mean not just the group's gossip but also notes of lessons they studied while we were on our magical honeymoon. " "Haha, you !" Aires laughed as she rested her head down on her pillow. "Really? Honeymoon for three is what you could come up with as a name for it. "You're right, El," she affirmed. "I think I'll pick Vanessa, the girl Jason impersonated." Elena announced, "She looks more... committed? Yeah, something like that, so I think I'm going with her. " "Wow!" "Good for you!" Aires zealously replied, "I'll monitor some of them and see whom I can befriend. Meanwhile, I'll be in contact with The Reformer. She didn't teach me how to drag those demons into the abyss. So I'll need you two to put in some effort to keep an eye on everything that goes on within the group. When the right time comes, we will intercept their plans and make sure to put them where they'll never return. " "Oi oi Cap," Jason teased, though he hadn't been paying attention, "I'm really sleepy. Can we continue tomorrow?" "Yeah, sure!" both Aires and Elena responded, "I think I'm tired too." Elena added, "Bye," they said to each other, bringing an end to an awkward day.

The three friends walked into the classroom, but they realized a meeting was being held in the front. Most of the people they had seen present at the Enlighteners' Club meeting a day ago were there, listening to what their leader, Perry, had to say. As the three drew closer, the loudness of her voice began to decrease, as though she didn't want them to hear anything. They pretended to have heard nothing, so as they passed by the gathered crowd of ten, they wished them a good morning and went on to grab their seats. As they sat and relaxed, Aires shifted her seat to the side to face Elena and told her what she heard as they passed by. "She said the group would be legal today, and that they'd get a reply from the principal in a few hours." "How did you hear all that?" Elena replied, quite amazed. Aires defended: "We passed by them, I slowed down, and even when she lowered her voice, I was paying attention to her lips and reading every word that fell out," Aires defended. "Well, it appears that doomsday is approaching at breakneck speed." Elena replied. "We'll be there to welcome it." As they kept on talking, the noise in the atmosphere slowly died down and everyone's focus turned towards the visitor they had, the Principal. "Good morning, Principal Flemming!" The students greeted her as she took her stand in the front. "Good morning, students," she greeted in return. "I hope you're all fine." You must be wondering why I'm here so early; it's not something you see every day. A couple of days ago, I was in my office when I heard a knock on the door. I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw Perry walk in. When the conversation started, I heard her wanting to start a group for students to express themselves, to build their confidence, to grow the urge to shape the society they wish to see and partake in leadership. Isn't that magnificent? It's about time we let you students bring up something, something outside the traditional football team, cheer leading, and others, something out of your fresh minds. "Get over here, Perry," she walked over to her side, and she wrapped her arms around her, "that was brave, my child, trust me I don't know how you're going to pull this off, but I don't want to interfere either. I'll only interfere when it's against school principles. But I'm here to say "Congrats! The Enlightener's Club has been approved. I'm rooting for you. " " Thank you, Ma'am," she responded politely, "It will be like nothing you have ever seen. We will take over the school, the neighborhood, and make you proud. " "Wow, that sounds revolutionary!" Mrs. Flemmings said with a fond look. Have a nice day you all," she said with burgeoning excitement, "and I hope you help the Enlighteners' Club grow for the better of all of us. "Study hard." With smiles all over her face, she departed the class. "Well, well, well, it looks like the sun has finally set," each of the three friends heard Perry leer in their heads. "The clock has started ticking," she added, as she grinned in the front. The three friends were the only ones who could hear her, and each one of them was covered in chills, so Aires looked over her shoulders and, in a shuddering voice, she asked Elena, "Did you hear what I heard?" "Oh I did, but chillax girl, let's have a soda. She can brag all she wants, but we won't back down. "We'll drag each one of them back to hell, where they belong," Elena assured.

Though it had a weird beginning, the rest of the day went quite well. Elena was able to befriend Vanessa. It turned out she was the friendly type, so they got along well. Somehow, Elena gained her trust in just a few hours of getting to know each other, and she agreed to go home with Elena to give her the notes to copy. Aires' catch was Nella Stetson, a girl who happened to be a former best friend of Perry's. According to the girl, they broke up because Perry tried flirting with her man. To cut it short, things got back to normal when Perry returned to school last Thursday and introduced the idea of helping people develop themselves. That sounded fascinating, and she trusted that Perry had changed. Aires badly wanted to say, "You have no idea the demon she has become," but to keep things going smoothly, she played along like she knew nothing. On the other hand, Jason went on a hunt for someone who was far from the General Arts class. Since most people had no idea about the existence of the new club, he went to the business class and befriended Eliot, an eighteen-year-old who was self-reserved. The boy was too quiet and innocent to even hurt a fly. By befriending Eliot, Jason started without hesitation to learn a few things about him in order to be able to imitate his every action when he transforms into him. After school, Jason immediately slipped into the men's washroom and shifted into Eliot. He then met the secretary of The Enlightener's Club and signed up to become a member. His phone number was taken, and he was informed to wait for the next exclusive meeting, which was going to be held later after school at Perry's house. As soon as he left, he called both Aires and Elena to inform them where he was going to be later after school. He then informed them to look for him if by eight he had not texted.

Later, at six thirty, each of the three got to work. Aires informed her mother that she was to go meet up with The Reformer and learn everything regarding how to drag the spirits into the abyss using the book she had been given. She had dinner and went upstairs to her room, sat in the middle of the bed, crossed her legs like a monk, and began whispering certain lines from the books she had read during her boring training where she had to memorize spells.

AIRES' PERSPECTIVE.

I had dinner at the earliest, and at about six thirty I went upstairs to speak with The Reformer. In the room, I sat in the middle of the bed, crossing my legs like a monk, and sat there quiet, meditating to gain complete focus in order to get my imagination straight and not end up slapping my body on the ground like last Sunday. As I began to recall what I learned, I felt a strong force around me, causing my room to grow darker and colder. Even though I had turned the lights on and shut the windows too, the curtains started to tremble, moving in the direction of a whirlwind that came out of nowhere. Paranormal slipped out of my bag and suspended itself in front of me. I did not know what was happening, but it caused the hairs on my arms to stand erect, and my body began to shiver. I started to hear voices all around me, and the book began to flip pages, each one showing pictures that were in motion. I saw my school on one page as it flipped by. The next were pictures of students chanting at the two teams. One was our school team, and the other was a team I had no idea about. All of a sudden, the page flipped again. This time I noticed the day growing dark, but I could see on the wrist of one student that the watch was telling a time of two thirty. Yet again, another page flipped and what I saw was Perry. She had blood on her lips and her dress was stained with dirt and blood. Once more, the book flipped, and this time there was a picture of a circle in the center of the football field, but it was very wide. Then I began to hear voices from nowhere and everywhere, saying, "Master the spell, Master it!" Then I saw the demons coming out of all the people they had possessed in great haste and force, but as they did, the bodies of the people they had possessed burst open, leaving blood spilling everywhere. It was an awful sight to behold. I could not watch any longer, so I shut my eyes to escape. A few seconds later, I felt the atmosphere around me grow calmer and quieter. Then I heard the soothing voice of The Reformer "Are you going to just stand there?" She asked. The never-ending smile was on her face again, looking as beautiful as always. "What on earth was that ? You saw it too, didn't you? Seat! " I clapped, calling out a seat out of nowhere. A little trick I learnt from her "Oh that?" She said, "That was just a booster, it's how this war will end." "And we all die." I speculated, "Not really, some things are not for you to know, but here is a tip for you. In just a little while, one of you is going to fall. But as to which one of you it is going to be, well, it's not for you to know. " She announced, "I felt an immediate sharp ache in my stomach, and fear gripped me." "If you were trying to speak in parables, trust me, you failed because it's in plain language," I replied, trying to relieve myself from the fear that I'm covered in. " Here's one for you," she commenced, "What if the beloved father has a past never addressed, and he is to take up a quest in these last days when or after a best friend is stuck in the devil's claws?" The light blinked as she mentioned the last two words, then I saw another vision. A man crying hard. He seemed to be moving up and down, trying to come to a conclusion on something, but he was confused. He aligned himself with the legion, and just as they were about to attack, the vision stopped and I fell back into my seat.I won't ask you the meaning; I don't want to know something which I will have to keep as a secret to myself," I replied, bemusedly, "but I need your help. Please teach me how to drag them back into the abyss." "It's not difficult," she affirmed, "I'll teach you. It's just a few lines, but if you want to use it, make sure your target is in sight and within the circle." "Err, which circle are we talking about here?" "There's a circle, representing the sun. It has six ears, like the rays of a mid-day sun. "You must make your target stand in it and say the words without doubting even one word, without a shiver, and you will succeed," she explained. The spell will be written for you, but memorize it because your friend will need your help or else." or what? " "I'm afraid he or she will die." "Which of them?" "You ask too many questions at the same time, you will know when it's time, but the countdown has begun," eye ordered, "no I persisted," "you're not here," she whispered, and immediately I felt my body pressed against a mattress, and I looked over my shoulder and groaned when I realized I was back in my room.
