Imagine walking through a tunnel that had nothing to it other than darkness, and you are just walking through unaware of whether you are actually headed towards the exit or just further into the darkness and then suddenly, you see a light at the end of that tunnel, a glimmer of hope and a sign that there was salvation. That was how we felt after we had finished drawing up our escape plan.
We drew up a route that we would follow that we believed would be very hard for the enemy to follow us on or at least slow them down a lot if they were to follow us long enough for us to find a good way to make use of what we had found in my bag.
The last thing that was left was EXECUTION!!!!
Mr Monroe was dressed like an explorer and marching like an American bulldog towards the office of Mr Ahmed. He tugged at the sleeve of his long-sleeved khaki shirt as he struggled to get his composure under control.
He wasn't having much luck with that.
In the meantime, I and the gang got our bags set and set them in a truck that had been parked at the edge of the encampment, we had to do this early enough not to raise any suspicion while Mr Monroe asked the manager's permission to take the kids out of camp for 3 days.
This wouldn't be enough to get out of Africa, but we needed a head-start before they would notice our foul play.
The atmosphere grew eerier by the second as time passed with Mr Monroe in Mr Ahmed's office. I found myself pacing to and from like I was Mufasa on pride rock. As I paced, a hand held mine causing me to stop abruptly and turn to confirm who it was.
It was jasmine and I saw nothing but concern in her eyes. I felt bad instantly, my worrying had gotten her worried and I didn't like that at all. I had to be calm if I wanted to reverse the negative effect of my worries.
I sat down to ease my nerve, the tension in my muscles was just building up to the near climax.
A gentle touch came to my shoulder.
"it will be fine, just relax" jasmine reassured.
The voice had an impact on my body that I couldn't put down into writing. It almost seemed like she was talking down to the cells in my body directly.
"Thanks," I said. I finally felt pretty optimistic, I'm pretty sure that was her doing though.
Danny walked passed us and walked over to the window. He stood there watching studiously and unflinching. For a moment, I thought he had manifested the power of x-ray vision and so he was just witnessing all the events play out from our cabin.
"wow, someone is focused," Eva said from where she was before standing up and walking over to where he was.
"yeah, just checking" he replied, finally flinching a bit
"don't go hard on yourself, Danny" she drew closer to him and turned him towards her as Danny reluctantly yielded to her efforts to turn him.
"This isn't football, so take it easy before you get a heart attack."
"and what happens if I do" at this point he had one kind of naughty look on his face as he stared down into her eyes.
"well..." she said as she straightened his khaki shirt from the chest region.
" I know I can't manage to carry 54 kilograms of weight, so in short, we are done for" she replied looking down at his chest before settling her gaze on his eyes and staying fixated on his gaze.
"knock, knock" Mr Monroe was at the door, sweaty as heck and breathing in a not-so-regular pattern.
We opened the door and watched him stagger unto the couch, panting. We somehow agreed unanimously in our minds to give him time to recollect himself before we would ask what the outcome of the meeting was.
I guess all we could do was just stare at him as he slowed down his breathing. Eva went ahead to bolt the door.
"Mr Monroe?" jasmine called out to him to get his attention.
"How did it go?" she asked before looking at us for visual approval.
There was a long silence that remained for a long time only to be broken when Mr Monroe sat up suddenly and heaved loudly.
"well...…." Mr Monroe said as he got up from the chair. He strolled forward to the centre of the living room before turning to us.
"It's time for execution!!" he said. He had a wide smile on his face and a stature similar to that of the greatest showman.
I have zero ideas how he did it or what he did, but one thing was sure, I loved this man.
We celebrated a bit before we set out to carry out the plan as we had arranged.
"good morning sleepyheads" Mr Monroe shouted through the megaphone in his hand into all the cottages in the cottage town.
"wake up, wake up everyone" he shouted as we drove along. Danny was the driver of the vehicle and he hammered down at the vehicle's horn in such a manner that even we that were awake would have been pissed if we didn't know what was happening.
"come out for this public announcement!!" he shouted as Danny finally parked the jeep at the centre of the town where the stage used to be. The stage as well as all the stuff used for the party yesterday night had been cleared up before morning as if there was never a party at all.
I had to commend the work of those who did it. I wasn't sure if it was because they were such good event planners or because they were people whose work required that they left no trace of their existence, whichever one, these guys were really good.
The cabin doors began to slide open and students began to seep out like a wave of zombies. Even the hotties were caught off guard for the first time. Wendy's hair in particular was a mess, but everyone were just too tired to pay attention to it or even recall it by the time we will finish.
"alright guys, good morning. I'm glad to see that you all enjoyed the party." Mr Monroe was clearly mocking them but they couldn't sense it since their brains were still only half awake.
"anyway, I need you all to go back into your cabins and gather all the stuff that you need for a 3 days trip, but the wise among you will gather for even more than that if I were you"
I saw what Mr Monroe was doing there, like it or not there is always a venator around when we make announcements like these and so it is safe to assume that they always report back to Mr Ahmed after such gatherings. Mr Monroe was giving an instruction without making it obvious. It didn't want anything that would give us away to Mr Le Brawn who was standing on the east side of the stage.
"We are going to be going off into nature to experience it for three days straight and we also are learning a lot by doing so"
"But sir, is this in our curriculum?" asked curry. It seems he had finally gotten over his near-slumber state. He also had Lisa on his back. It seems he still wanted her to catch some sleep.
"But sir, is this in our curriculum?" Mr Monroe mimicked on stage
"boy, I am the curriculum!!" he said as he pointed his right thumb back at his chest, his biceps standing tall between his forearm and shoulder.
"Now you guys go get ready and let's move out." Mr Monroe shouted as the students retreated into their cabins to go and get what they would need for this trip.
As they dispersed, the bodyguard left to give Mr Ahmed the minutes of the meeting and we all exchanged smiles and nods from where we stood in the crowd.
We had everything ready for the big move and the last thing that we needed was finally in place. A reason for the students to all move at once and a head start from the venators so that we would by chance come across what we needed to make use of what we had found in my bag.
I am not one to jump to conclusions, but I think this plan is going to work.
DANNY'S POV
We had split up into the crowd when the students were summoned to avoid raising any form of suspicion and so I got separated from Eva. I searched through the crowd as they receded to find her but I couldn't find her anywhere.
Even though I know it has only been 6 minutes, I am starting to get worried over whether she was okay and not snagged by a Venator.
I looked through thoroughly and then I got to know that even though she wasn't snagged by a Venator, she was snagged by someone way worse than them.
WENDY!!!!!!
