Beta Londan Grey moved forward to the center stage to stand side by side with Elder Lomi. His every breath gave the distinct growl of a feral animal.
Elder Lomi remained calm like he had complete control of the situation.
At this same time, far away in a tall building, a man holding a set of binoculars was staring through it and looking at both Elder Lomi and Londan Grey as they stood before each other.
This man had his face covered by a mask such that only his eyes were uncovered and he wore a brown hat to mask his dirty brown khaki clothes.
He had a group of other individuals equally dressed in the same dirty brown khaki fashion, standing around and making growling sounds.
"Werewolves... finally, we can feast tonight..." The man holding the binoculars spoke in a strange tongue to another beside him.
"They seem to be having a weird game going on, maybe we can keep a few alive just for entertainment and not eat them all..." His partner responded in the same strange language but with a thick baritone voice that sounded like the rubbing of stone on a hard surface.
The others that were standing apart came closer to join these two.
These people were called maneaters. They feed primarily on werewolves. They could feed on normal humans but that would be like eating food without seasoning or any form of delicacy just bland paste, whereas, werewolves present them with not only delicacy but also nutrition that makes them perfectly healthy and strong and they feel fuller.
The ancestors of the werewolves race have battled maneaters for years and had done everything in their power to keep the secret.
If werewolves were to be aware of this threat, not only would they lose their dignity, they won't be the fearless beast they believed themselves to be and there would be a:rapid decline in confidence and strength.
To prevent this, the werewolf king together with some of the ancestors decided to organize a unit quietly and fight the maneaters without raising an alarm.
However, after 2000 years, some of the descendants have survived and have lived in secret, plotting their revenge quietly, diligently scouting and searching for werewolves, and the latter was unaware of the enemy that lurks about in the dark.
On this fateful day, they walked into a werewolf nest and could see such a crowd, it was like a group of anteaters walking into a cave filled with billions of ants, you could imagine the joy.
While the maneaters were observing silently, Londan Grey and Elder Lomi were battling it out.
Elder Lomi spun to the side and struck with his claws at the neck of Londan Grey.
London Grey jumped at the nick of time but still couldn't avoid the claws from making deep marks on his skin.
The claw lines were etched deep like three engraved lines. Alpha Londan Grey screamed in pain as he rolled on the floor.
His side was slit open and was bleeding unstoppably.
He managed to hobble to his feet as he watched Elder Lomi approach again.
His eyes went completely red as anger took hold of him.
~growllll~
Londan Grey gave a low threatening sound as he started to morph. His snout extended outwards with his fangs growing out of his snout, and his nails extended like claw nails.
He was a fully-formed werewolf.
His eye glowed red with rage as he pointed towards Elder Lomi.
Elder Lomi had his usual confident smile as he watched Londan Grey approach at breakneck speed.
Elder Lomi slammed his claws at the chest of Alpha Londan Grey in the nick of time and used that to carry him up as if lifting a weightless corpse.
Londan Grey had his intestines pierced as he looked helplessly.
Cheers rang out from the crowd as they waited patiently for Elder Lomi to finish the job.
Up there in the faraway tower, the maneater with the binoculars also watched in anticipation, expecting Elder Lomi to dispatch of Londan Grey.
The crowd urged him on and the more they urged him on, the more he wanted to drag out the match and show how confident and strong he was.
In normal circumstances, Elder Lomi was far stronger than Londan Grey and far older, they were not a match at all so from the beginning everyone expected an easy win for Elder Lomi.
However, at this moment, Elder Lomi got overconfident and wasn't paying full attention to Londan Grey whom he was carrying.
Elder Lomi was busy reveling in the praises he was receiving and didn't know that Londan Grey had brought out the same needle he used to place his former Alpha in a comatose state.
This time, he raised the concentration to almost 300% of the initial venom quality, he then slammed the needle on the side of the head of Elder Lomi.
Initially, Elder Lomi didn't react to the sudden injection of toxic venom, but a few seconds later, he threw Londan Grey away like one would throw a bag of waste, and held on to his neck tightly like he was trying to breathe.
He started gasping for air as the venom swam through his body freely.
Everyone around was wondering what was going on and needed time to process what they were witnessing.
Londan Grey wasn't better off either, he was in an unimaginable amount of pain and was trying to hold himself together.
He was bleeding out because he was cut by a cursed werewolf and he needed immediate medical attention or rather, supernatural attention, yet no one could attend to him until the referee declares the match over.
As if on cue, Elder Lomi stopped struggling after a couple of minutes of futile struggle and got on his knees.
He took his last breath and slammed on the ground.
The first to be horrified was Elder Tozic. 'That shit could really kill cursed werewolves, what exactly is that...?' He pondered fearfully.
What he didn't know was that the so called toxin was made using the blood of the Kannais as a catalyst and mass-produced, this has put the usually predominant cursed Werewolves at a disadvantage.
Immediately after Elder Lomi was confirmed dead, the referee raised his white flag toward Londan Grey signifying his win.
Almost immediately, he was carried away to be treated.
The crowd however couldn't believe their eyes. Londan Grey has just won the right to lead the pack of an Elder werewolf and has by so doing become an Elder himself, it stunned everyone around.
It's not the size of the opponent in a fight that matters but the size of the fight in the challenger!
