LEE HONGJOONG
My lips quivered as I struggled to get out words. I clutched my phone tightly and spoke shakily.
" What do you mean mum? what are you talking about? who's alive "
" Kim Sangtae "
I hung up immediately and rushed back into the room. Bada was seated on the bed when I went in.
" What's wrong? You don't look okay "
" Grab your things. Take only what's important "
" What's happening? "
" I'll explain later "
We both headed over to Eunsoo and Taemin after organising our things. I hurriedly sent a text to Suah.
" Taemin call Deokhwa right now and tell him to go over to your mum's place with Minho. Tell them to leave that house immediately and find somewhere safe "
" What's going on? ". Taemin asked.
Almost immediately, Suah rushed into the room.
" Hongjoong what's the matter ? You said it was an emergency ". Suah said between breaths.
" Suah call Minji and tell her to go over to her parents house right now "
" Why should she go all the way to Busan tonight? ". Suah asked.
" Tell us what the hell is going on ". Eunsoo said and walked towards me.
" Kim Sangtae is alive "
Eunsoo's eyes grew dark and an ominous air suddenly clouded the room. Taemin suddenly ran over to me and grabbed my coat.
" What bullshit are you talking about? What are you saying? He died a long time ago!". Taemin screamed.
" How do you know? Who said such bullshit! ". Eunsoo said.
" My mum. She just called ". I said calmly.
" Your mum? What the hell is happening? ". Eunsoo asked.
" Look,we can stand here throwing questions all night and wait for that bastard to come and kill us all or we can get moving right now and think of a way to save ourselves and our families ". I said.
" Wait a minute! Kim Sangtae as in the crazy old man from Taemin's past? ". Suah asked while staring at me.
I nodded my head slowly and immediately, she pulled out her phone with shaky hands.
I walked over to Taemin and held him gently by his shoulders, giving them a little squeeze.
" I promise I'll explain everything later ". I said and he nodded.
" Hongjoong! She's not answering. She's not taking my calls ". Suah said as she came running to me.
" Call one of her co-workers. She's probably working overtime "
KYUNG EUNSOO
I watched Hongjoong and Suah run around, while Bada just sat quietly in the corner.
" Yeah just stay right there. I'll call you back when we're settled ". Taemin said over the phone.
" Who's Minji? ". I asked Taemin as soon as he hung up.
" She's Suah's fiancee " . Taemin replied
" Oh "
Suah kept pacing about, with her phone in hand; she was still trying to reach Minji.
" She's still not answering ". Suah said.
" I have an idea ". I said.
KIM SANGTAE
I sat quietly in my car and watched through the darkness as the five figures scurried to the minivan that was parked in front of the hotel. I let out a deep breath and brought the engine to life as the minivan drove off.
LEE TAEMIN
The five of us went down the lift and went out through the back. We got into the car and headed Straight for Suah and Minji's house. Eunsoo got off the phone after talking to his manager for a few minutes.
" Kim Sangtae is following them ". Eunsoo said.
After a while, we came to a small apartment complex and Suah rushed out of the car and towards the apartment. She opened the door and we all rushed inside.
" Come on Minji...answer my fucking call ". Suah said as she paced around, phone in hand.
Suddenly we all went quiet and still as the front door bleeped and clicked.
" Huh? What's with all the shoes? ". Someone mumbled
Suah rushed forward and pulled the small figure into a tight embrace.
" You.....why didn't you answer your phone? Are you okay? Where were you? Why didn't you answer your phone? ". Suah mumbled incoherently.
" Hey hey hey....relax. I'm okay. What's the problem are you okay? ". Minji said as she nuzzled into Suah's shoulder.
" I'm fine I was just worried about you ". Suah said and kissed her head.
" What are you guys doing here? ". Minji asked as she walked over to Hongjoong and I and smacked my arm lightly.
" Uhmm....it's a long story ". I said, trying to keep my cool.
Her eyes wandered over to Eunsoo and Bada before looking over to me with a questioning expression.
KIM SANGTAE
I felt rage as I pulled my car to a stop. Bloody hell...I fell for it. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone.
The ringing went on for a while, before the receiver clicked.
" Huh! You got lucky ".
" ... "
" Fucking talk to me! ". I yelled as his slow breaths floated into my ears.
" I was too easy on you last time. This time I promise you, you would absolutely regret coming back. It doesn't matter how you're still alive because it won't last long". Eunsoo said from the other end.
" You.....
The line clicked and I was engulfed in the silence. I felt hot air as I hurled my phone at the wall. Warm fluid trickled down my palm as I clenched my fists.
KYUNG EUNSOO
I looked over at Taemin as I put my phone back into my pocket and he gave me a small smile. I took a deep breath and squeezed Taemin's hand lightly before pushing the door open.
I was finally back with my family.
LEE HONGJOONG
I left behind all the chatter and noise and climbed up the staircase as Eunsoo caught up with Taemin's mum and the others.
" Hey ". I said to the small figure, as I opened the door.
" Hey ".Bada said as he looked up from his phone.
" What about your family? "
" They're currently abroad "
" How are you holding up? ". I asked while taking my seat next to him.
" I...uhm...I'm fine...I think ". He mumbled, with visibly trembling hands.
" I have a really cute orange cat ". I said
" What? "
" You wanna see? "
" Uhmm...yes "
I pulled his chair closer to mine and started scrolling through my phone. I opened the first picture and felt him leaning closer.
" Her name is *Mandu because she was round and chubby when we got her "
*Mandu is Korean for dumpling.
" Haha. She is so adorable ". He said .
I placed the phone in his hands and watched him scroll. He leaned in closer and giggled constantly as he scrolled through.
I was lost in thoughts, staring down at him when his hair brushed my face. It was white, soft and fluffy; it looked like clouds. I subconsciously lifted my right hand and buried it in his hair. It smelt like sweets and felt like cotton candy.
All of a sudden, I felt him stiffen and immediately withdrew my hand.
" I am so sorry. I'm gonna go. You should rest up ". I got off the chair and headed for the door.
I stopped in my track when I felt a small tug on my shirt. I heard him walk over to me and my breath stilled as his hand slid into mine. I turned around to look at him and he slowly lifted my hand to his face.
" Let's hurry up and deal with this problem and get everything sorted out ". He said while looking up at me.
" Let's do that ". I said while gently stroking his face.
I ruffled his hair and we both laughed
