Azrael Herrington had overheard all their discussions and just by the Alpha' connecting the dots, he had gotten the entire plot of what they planned to do.
He could see through the changes in their heartbeat, the sharp increase in eye flutter, their hand signs, and shaky legs, these subtle movements were all a dead giveaway, and besides all that, the Alpha's connection to the pack makes him able to practically read other's mind, especially those members of the pack that are within the immediate vicinity.
The three hefty men that go by the name; Lervy whose fingers were broken by Londan Grey, and the other two; Maxy and Dun, we're checking around with terrified expressions, trying to locate Alpha Azrael.
Azrael had dashed into hiding just in time before they turned to attack.
He wasn't hiding because he was afraid, he did that to sneak attack them.
"I thought I would give you guys another chance, but it seems you're foolish enough to test me..." The voice echoed from all around them.
Lervy was the most scared. His broken fingers made it difficult for him to do anything about it.
He was shaky as he turned sharply to observe all around him.
~Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-swiiiiiiiii~ Deep claw marks suddenly appeared on the back of Lervy, but before he could scream, it appeared on the side of the neck and shoulders of Maxy, who barely made any audible sound before Dun had his clothes torn from deep claw marks around his chest area.
The three screamed in pain and agony as they suffered under the attack of Alpha Azrael.
They knew that at this rate, they were all going to be killed.
They knelt and raised their hands in surrender.
"Alpha please forgive us..."
"We were foolish...",
"we know better now..."
They spoke one after the other in an orderly manner.
"Why should I forgive you? but you wanted to kill me...? Isn't it because you didn't have your way, that you're begging? Would you have spared me if I begged?" Alpha Azrael countered with a solid argument and they were tongue-tied.
They didn't even know how to respond or what to say.
~Swiiiiiiiiissshshshshshsh~
The three were beheaded with claw marks. Their headless corpses fell to the ground with blood spilling out of their necks.
If someone from another pack were to see this scene they would be even more frightened of Alpha Azrael.
Some people witnessed the scene in secret and had gone to inform their senders.
Within the pack, there were those who planned to make a move on Azrael and become the next Alpha, they hadn't made any move because of a lack of opportunities like this one where he was alone.
However, with this ruthless display of taking on three hefty werewolves and beheading them wantonly, they would be scared to the bone by such a display and probably want to stand down for the time being.
Alpha Azrael looked around. Although he couldn't see anyone in sight, he could perceive scents and faintly hear the heartbeats of those hiding in the background.
He had no intention of finding out who they are, or maybe he didn't need to do much if he really wanted to know who they are, just cross-examining the scents he perceived with the people he meets is enough to know who was where.
He ignored those hiding and focused on finding Gellibert Ash. He needed to stop the Stray Business, where someone is profiting off making stray werewolves into slaves.
This will prevent the pack from increasing in strength and numbers and also cut down potential laborers, at the same time it would send a bad message about the pack to neighboring packs and strays.
If he didn't decide to take a walk today, he would probably not have found out about such a thriving business and such wickedness being done at the expense of the pack when the pack had to do all it could to survive.
Even the Alpha, Azrael, had to accept the offer of walking into a trap just to get some money to keep the pack afloat for the time being.
Alpha Azrael was not going to be merciful. If anything, he is going to teach them all a lesson.
As he wanted to walk ahead, Londan arrived in a black Toyota Camry.
"My Lord, I know where Gellibert Ash does his business, let me drive you there..." Londan Grey offered.
"No... I want to walk today, you can go ahead, I'll meet you there..." Alpha Azrael responded.
"Do you also know the place...?" Londan Grey asked in surprise.
"I can perceive his scent all the way from here, I detected it on these men. No worries..." Alpha Azrael responded nonchalantly.
Londan Grey hesitated, before driving off. He knew just how stubborn Alpha Azrael was, he better just go along with it than waste time trying to change his mind.
Alpha Azrael walked around observing the pack. He saw that there were some members of his pack or so he thought, out there on the street begging for alms.
These guys were covered in fleas, their bodies were covered in scabs and open sores.
Alpha Azrael was moved to pity and fiery indignation.
It hurt him about the condition of these people and he was completely unaware.
He moved closer to those begging for alms and he stops in front of them.
"Don't you guys have a place to stay, why are you begging, aren't you being given rations...?" Alpha Azrael asked all in one breath.
"Don't you know that we've been like this for so long... if you've come to mock us, you can go your way..." A man who seemed frustrated responded in anger.
A woman who noticed the kindness in Alpha Azrael's eye decided to respond. They all didn't know that they stood in the presence of the Alpha of the pack and this is majorly because they are humans and not werewolves.
The woman came closer and spoke. "We are humans who happen to know about werewolves and whatnot. We are useless to Gellibert Ash so he wanted to kill us, we begged him to spare our lives but he did that at a heavy price, he made sure to beat us terribly and subject us to such inhumane conditions."
She paused as she saw the sadness on Alpha Azrael's face.
"To survive, we have to constantly beg on the street. No werewolf would help us because Gellibert forbids it. Everyone fears him. We heard about the new Alpha and we wanted to tell him, but we never got the chance to, and before we get anywhere, we would be sent back..." The woman complained as tears streamed down her face.
Azrael looked around the 30 humans gathered around and their pathetic state.
"I am the new Alpha..." Azrael revealed his identity.
The man who snapped at Azrael before snapped again. "Yeah right, and I'm the president of Melbourne... Please go away, your jokes are not worth shit..." The man felt Alpha Azrael wanted to make jokes and go.
Alpha Azrael ignored him. "You are now under my protection, no one would ever maltreat you again. I am going to meet Gellibert Ash, you can decide to follow me or wait till I'm back, I will take you all to the guest house and from today things will change for you all..." Alpha Azrael spoke passionately.
For the next few seconds, no one blinked. They looked at Alpha Azrael closely and couldn't find any reason to doubt him.
He indeed had the look of an Alpha. The expensive top and trousers, the hair, the confidence.
They wanted to rejoice and shout and at the same time, they didn't want to jinx it.
The man who snapped at Alpha Azrael was starting to wonder if he hadn't doomed himself to a fate worse than death.
