Chapter 85 - Underestimated

"Boom!" Wesley had just left his original position when a grenade flew over. The heavily damaged car directly exploded and jumped up. All the cars in the parking lot activated their alarms, which directly affected Wesley's hearing.

"Apple, can you filter these sounds?" Wesley asked.

"No, the sound is transmitted through air vibrations, and the ears rely on eardrum vibrations to receive it. I can't filter it, so I can only choose to listen or not to listen." Wesley frowned, then looked around. The cars in the parking lot are all high-end cars, and each of them has bright car paint.

With the help of the reflection, Wesley began to check his surroundings. Because of the explosion, the ambushers had now lost Wesley's position. They began to approach cautiously. There were not many left. Fifteen people had been ambushed in the parking lot, and now there were only three left.

Wesley could not afford to be careless. These people were clearly not enough. There had to be another group or several groups lying in wait in other positions.

He didn't know that there were only so many people. There were no more ambushers. The other party didn't know much about Wesley and had designed the ambush based on the assessment results.

Wesley was from the Brotherhood and Hydra knew all about it, but they didn't know exactly how good Wesley was. Nick Fury had brought Wesley's information to headquarters and Maria Hill was in charge of keeping it, so it was difficult for them to get first-hand information. The source of everything was nothing more than a one-and-a-half-star phone conversation with the Brotherhood and a record of an assessment by SHIELD's New York Division.

Alice, the level-five agent they had sent out last time, had died for no reason. After her body was found, they did not make a sound. Instead, they became quiet. The purpose of sending Alice out was to absorb Gibson and his son into Hydra, but it seemed that the effect was not good, so they fell silent. Wesley thought that the other party had given up, but he did not expect that they had been monitoring him. The means of surveillance must have been using technological equipment. Otherwise, he and Apple would have noticed it.

It seemed that he was still very weak in this aspect. Apple was a biological computer, and there were some drawbacks to the link with the hardware. He needed to think of a way.

Wesley did not know the exact number of people outside. Now he saw three of them, and they were closing in on him. He frowned and thought for a moment, then turned around and took a few steps back. Then he swung his arms and two bullets flew from both sides of the vehicle. They flew through the spaces between the vehicles.

Two more people fell, and the remaining one panicked. He turned around and ran toward the door of the parking lot, where there was still someone there to meet him. Wesley got up and looked around, feeling that something was wrong. If there was still someone on the other side, then this person should not have run away directly. It was obvious that his mind had exploded.

Puzzled, Wesley ran out after him. The man in front ran in a panic, straight to the entrance. A man in a security guard's uniform had his right hand on his holster, ready to draw his gun.

Seeing an accomplice running over in a panic, he felt that things might not be going smoothly enough. Then he saw Wesley behind him and pulled out his gun to shoot.

Wesley also raised his gun and fired. The bullets met and collided in the air one by one, and sparks flew between the two of them. The disguised security guard finally emptied all his bullets, and Wesley still had a gun. He raised his gun and fired, killing the disguised security guard. He casually shot the last ambusher.

"Don't come over, don't come over…" The last man was obviously frightened. After he was shot in the leg, he couldn't run anymore and could only crawl forward on the ground. Wesley came over and stepped on him, and then the apple began to invade his brain.

Not long after, Apple reported that the collection of information had been completed. Wesley shot the last person. "Tell me, why are there only so few people?"

"They don't know much about you, so they think you're just a top-notch assassin. They want to recruit you because your father's assassination skills are what they need. However, the previous incident made them think that you won't join, so they've been watching you until this opportunity appeared."

"The incident at the school was an emergency. They thought that there was a chance and let the gangs deal with you first. However, those people did not have guns and were directly defeated by you. The next step was to erase your firearms information. However, since you showed your S.H.I.E.L.D. ID, they could only carry out the assassination. A total of 16 people participated in the operation. They thought it was enough and surrounded you at the elevator and fired. There was no possibility of survival."

Wesley thought for a moment, then asked, "Don't they know what I'm capable of?"

"I know, but there is no intuitive concept. No matter how powerful your ability is, they have never seen it before. They don't know how strong you are."

"That means I'm completely underestimated. No wonder they dared to send so few people. I thought there were a few more groups. It's really…" Wesley was a little angry that they underestimated his strength. He couldn't stand it and took out his phone.

"Phil, where are you now?" Wesley called Phil Coulson.

"At Washington headquarters. I'm organizing the personnel, but the personnel is not very easy to choose. I don't know who is trustworthy. What's the matter?" Phil is worried about the operations personnel now, because this trip to New York is to clean up internal problems and there is a possibility of a firefight, but who can be trusted to start worrying.

"Just bring people over. Let me help you distinguish. I was ambushed just now. There are a total of 16 people, all of them are from the New York branch. I don't know how things will develop."

"You can tell?" Phil Coulson was surprised.

"That's right, one of my abilities. Now we need to clean up the New York branch as soon as possible. At the very least, we have to ensure that the staff of this branch does not belong to the other party. Otherwise, the losses will be too great in the future."

"According to you, they have completely penetrated every aspect of SHIELD. Will they be alerted if I make a move in New York?" Phil now doesn't dare to make a move.

"They don't know my ability, so it doesn't matter. We'll use this as a starting point. The reason is definitely enough. We'll only catch this time, under the banner of reorganization. As long as they don't know my ability, they won't do anything. Don't tell anyone about this."

"Alright, I understand. I'll bring people over directly. I hope you can distinguish them accurately. You must have solid evidence to make them talk. Otherwise, the entire team will disperse. Once there's a firefight, we'll be at a disadvantage."

"Don't worry, we can conduct this investigation in batches and ask the branch officers one by one. This way, I can completely distinguish them."
