Chapter 148 - Arguing Is Inevitable

Steve Rogers listened to Saul and then asked, "So we're about to meet an army, and it's from an alien planet, right?"

"That's right. That's why he wants to open the portal. That's why he took Dr. Eric Selvig and robbed the metal ingot. Why did he want this metal?" Bruce Banner said.

Tony Stark continued, "It's to make a stabilizer so that the new portal won't collapse like SHIELD's." Tony Stark then looked at Nick Fury.

Nick Fury sensed what Tony Stark meant and said, "This is a top-secret SHIELD project. You're just a consultant. The scientists we recruit must be controlled. I'm sure you understand."

"Uh-huh, secrets and control again, but you have a point. This has nothing to do with me, but it has a lot to do with me now." Tony Stark's unyielding character and mouth.

Wesley stepped in to smooth things over. "Okay, Tony has nothing to complain about. What we need to discuss now is why Loki wants to stay on the mothership. You have to know that Hawkeye is under his control. There should be no secrets here for him, so he came here with a purpose."

"Agreed. Why don't I test him? If Hawkeye tells him everything, then he should know about me very well," Natasha Romanov said.

Wesley glanced at her. Her thoughts were part of Loki's calculations. Loki had a number of names in ancient mythology, most of them bad, but they also indicated his extraordinary wisdom. But Wesley had no intention of stopping her. If she didn't go, then the scepter wouldn't emit a lot of energy. Wesley needed this step to happen.

"Then let's go to work first. Agent Romanov will test Loki. The rest of you wait for the news." Wesley got up and took Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to the lab.

As they walked, Wesley asked, "Tony, is JARVIS still deciphering it?"

"Yes, I have to say that your Elizabeth is very good. It took so long, but it will be done in a while. We will know the secrets of SHIELD."

"I don't think it's necessary. SHIELD's secrets have nothing to do with us." Wesley wants to maintain the relationship as much as possible. Besides, there is nothing wrong with SHIELD's research on weapons. Isn't that normal?

"You actually think there's no problem? Bruce, what do you think?"

"Me? I don't know…" Bruce Banner said hesitantly.

"Hey, Bruce, remember what Wesley said about you? You're too weak. You have to be bold and say what you think." Tony Stark continued to induce him.

"Tony, I'm not talking about that," Wesley said, glaring at Tony Stark.

Dr. Bruce Banner finally spoke. "As you said, Tony is the first person in the energy field. I think it's understandable even if SHIELD recruits him. After all, the Tesseract doesn't belong to Tony, so the research results won't be used in other aspects. And he's a consultant of SHIELD, so it shouldn't be a problem. So they may be doing other research."

Wesley looked at the two of them helplessly. "They have nothing to do with us even when they're working on weapons. I know what you're suspecting. It's just weapons research, isn't it? What's wrong with that? What country in the world doesn't carry out weapons upgrades and research day and night? What's so strange about that?"

The three of them entered the lab without realizing it. Tony Stark looked at Wesley in surprise. "You actually think this is how it should be?"

Wesley nodded. "I think it should. That's good. No matter what kind of weapon is developed, at least if the weapon is powerful enough, then I won't be so powerless against aliens. I know that weapons are bad, like nuclear weapons, and can destroy the earth at any time, but you have to admit that because of nuclear weapons, world powers don't dare to attack each other. We've entered an era of 'nuclear peace,' although that's a little ironic."

"Wow, your idea is really…" Tony Stark's hands kept gesturing as if he was looking for words to describe Wesley.

"Well, Tony, whether it's Iron Man or Sir Black, they're all weapons. We also have weapons. It's just that we're good people and can do some good with them and stop some evil. There's no problem with that at all. I'm supportive of that, but do you remember your partner? He stole your technology, your new energy source, and what did he do? The two of us killed him, and that's the right thing to do."

"The weapons themselves are not good or bad. Some people use them to protect their homes, and some people use them to bully the weak. The key is still people. Can't people do bad things without human weapons?" Wesley's question stunned Tony Stark. Then he looked at Wesley and asked, "Do you believe in SHIELD?"

"I believe there are many good people in the world and few bad people. What do you think?" Wesley smiled at Tony Stark.

"Well, I'm defeated by you, but I'll keep J.A.R.V.I.S. on the move. I'd like to see what SHIELD has developed. Now I'm curious."

Wesley had no choice but to throw himself into his work. He asked Elizabeth to help Bruce Banner with his comprehensive analysis and speed up the process of elimination.

It didn't take long for Nick Fury to walk in. "Mr. Tony Stark, can you tell me why you broke into the system here?" Wesley knew that Elizabeth had raised the alarm at the command center.

"Of course it's to see what SHIELD is hiding…" Tony Stark had just said this when Wesley suddenly felt the scepter begin to emit more energy.

"Apple, absorb it with all your might and don't let the energy leak out." Wesley hurriedly instructed Apple and then adjusted the position where he was standing, closest to the scepter and within reach.

Nick Fury also received a report from Natasha Romanov at the same time. Then he looked up at Dr. Bruce Banner and was about to continue talking to Tony Stark when the door of the laboratory opened and Steve Rogers and Saul walked in. "We're here to see how the progress is. If we can find the Cube ahead of time, then we don't have to study what Loki wants to do." This may be the best solution the two of them can think of.
