Chapter 995 - So Magic Can Be So Powerful!

Looking at the mission instructions in the system column, Ivan was momentarily speechless.

Fortunately, over the years, Ivan had become accustomed to the system's description of him as a terrorist plotting to take over the world, so he pretended not to see it, ignored the instructions and notes in the taskbar, and turned his attention elsewhere.

Ivan was shocked by the sudden increase in progress to over 80%. He had guessed that becoming the President of the International Confederation of Wizards would increase his progress by a lot, but he did not expect it to be so much.

On second thought, it made sense.

He had been living in England for most of his life, and other than the occasional mention of his name in the European Wizarding World's newspapers, most wizards from other continents had never heard of him.

Even fewer people knew that he was secretly controlling the British wizarding community…

This time, however, he defeated the legendary Dark Lord Grindelwald in front of thousands of people, using his fame to gain a reputation among the heads of state and representatives of the wizarding community.

The whole wizarding world would know if it was printed in every newspaper in the world in two days.

The title of President of the League was also useful, as it gave him the legal right to interfere with the wizarding community.

However, the next step would not be so easy. Ivan estimated that it would not be so easy to achieve one hundred percent progress. Perhaps he would have to wait until he became the true President, or even kill Grindelwald.

Neither was easy to accomplish.

Although the International Confederation of Wizards sounded very prestigious, it was actually no different from the Muggle United Nations, perhaps even more miserable. It was basically a decoration, and whether or not the orders it issued were useful depended on the individual countries.

His only advantage was his ability to overwhelm an entire country. With the full support of the British wizarding community, he had a slight chance of becoming President.

However, politics had always been Ivan's weakness, and the thought of having to deal frequently with ministers from all over the world, or even compete for power, gave him a headache.

He preferred a straightforward fight to these subtleties.

Were they really going to use their power to weed out dissidents and plot to control the ministers, as described in the system instructions?

Ivan shook his head quickly, pushing the thought aside, and then sighed. He had been corrupted by this system, and every now and then he would think of something evil.

He was clearly a good and kind person…

"Sir Harls…" Piers's voice cut through Ivan's thoughts.

"What is it?" Ivan asked, turning to face her.

"Are you staying at the Ministry for the next few days? Or are you returning to Hogwarts?" Pierce asked.

Yvonne thought for a moment before replying. "Let's go back to school. It's Christmas break in a few days, and I have to speak to Professor McGonagall and the students."

Although the preparations for a coalition had been completed, it would certainly take some time for the ministers of France and Russia to switch places, and it would take them at least four or five days to get there.

He took advantage of this free time to settle some school matters.

"By the way, Minister Pierce, please tell Director Conal to send over everything they've gathered on Grindelwald and the Saints," Ivan said.

"Understood. I'll get someone to do it now," Pierce said solemnly.

After giving the order, Ivan did not stay any longer. He immediately waved his wand and used Apparition to disappear.

… .

Early Monday morning, Ivan woke up with a yawn and flipped through his timetable, then remembered that he had a morning lesson on Magical Studies and Practicing.

Ivan had been fighting Grindelwald at the Magical Congress of North America last night, and now he had to go back to school to teach. Ivan was somewhat uncomfortable with the feeling of separation, but he also knew that there would not be many days of leisure like this.

After washing up, Ivan slowly left the staffroom to enjoy breakfast in the Great Hall.

However, as soon as she reached the entrance hall, she heard a commotion and entered to see the young wizards of the four Houses gathered together, discussing something.

While Ivan was wondering what was going on, the group of young wizards gathered around Hermione, who was holding a copy of the newspaper in her hand.

"Jesus, Ivan, is this true? The Daily Prophet says you beat Grindelwald and became President of the International Confederation of Wizards?!"

Yvonne took the newspaper from Hermione's hands and looked at it. The front page showed him confronting Grindelwald in the Magical Congress of the United States of America.

It seemed that the Daily Prophet's response had been quite quick. They had only received the news in the early hours of the previous morning, but it had already been reported.

"Yes, I suppose you could put it that way." Ivan nodded easily at the curious, probing stares, then corrected himself. "I'm only the Acting President, to be precise!"

Unable to tell the difference, the students bombarded Ivan with questions about his time in the North American Magical Congress and how he had defeated Grindelwald.

When they read about it in the newspaper, they wondered if the Daily Prophet had made a mistake.

Despite being the most brilliant Hogwarts student ever and having graduated early to become a teaching professor, it is difficult to associate Ivan with the head of the International Confederation of Wizards.

It was as ridiculous as someone suddenly finding out that the person they were supposed to go to school with every day was a head of state.

"…Something like that happened. Grindelwald disguised himself as the President of the Magical Congress of North America and killed two ministers in an attempt to frame me for the murders. Eventually, I saw through his disguise and used magic to create a magical image of the ministers, revealing that Grindelwald had trapped them in the Congress of Magic…"

As the crowd urged her enthusiastically, Ivan patiently explained what had happened.

Despite Ivan's bland words, Hermione and the other witches could hear the danger of the situation, and the final battle between Ivan and Ivan at the Magical Congress of the United States of America was one of the greatest ever witnessed by the wizards.

Whether it was Grindelwald's feat of single-handedly taking on over a hundred Aurors, or the spell they cast to summon a thunderstorm, blow up streets, and piazzas, they both refreshed the young wizards' knowledge of power.

It turned out that magic could be so powerful!
