Chapter 820 - Trelawney's Expulsion

"You defeated You-Know-Who?" Luna asked in surprise, stopping in her tracks.

"Yes!" Ivan nodded, then asked teasingly, "Why? Don't you believe me?"

"No, I'm sure you can do it…" Luna shook her head, her beautiful pale blue eyes fixed on Ivan as she spoke dreamily. "That would be something! Papa says You-Know-Who is perhaps the most feared wizard in British history, and only the most valiant and fearless can best him!"

Ivan rubbed his nose. He didn't think he was worthy of the term "brave and fearless".

"Don't flatter me, Luna. I only injured him the other day, not killed Voldemort, so I suspect he will try to harm my family or close friends in revenge or threaten me…" Ivan explained.

"Is that so? I'll be careful…" Luna nodded seriously.

"It's not enough to be careful…" Ivan began again, his voice thick with emotion. "I learned earlier about the magic of Marks, which binds two wizards together."

"They can communicate with each other anywhere, no matter how far away they are. Other than that, they can also sense each other's location and Disapparate…"

Ivan talked about the various effects of the magical mark, and after some hesitation, he told Luna about the flaws of the mark and told her that he could control those who had been marked.

After all, Luna was one of his few close friends, and Ivan did not want to lie to her, so he gave her the right to choose — if only for her own safety.

However, after explaining the effects of the magical mark, Ivan felt a little nervous. The most famous magical mark in the wizarding world today was the famous Dark Mark. The two effects were so similar that it was hard to guarantee that Luna would not associate them…

It was for this reason that he had not told Hermione about the magical mark…

Luckily, to Ivan's relief, Luna didn't seem to care about the limitations of the person who planted the mark. Instead, she asked with great interest, "That means if You-Know-Who comes looking for me, you'll help me get rid of him, right?"

"That's right. You-Know-Who or not, you can activate that mark if you're in danger. I'll be right in front of you!" Ivan promised.

"What are you waiting for?" Luna asked, happily rolling up her right sleeve and holding out her fair wrist to Ivan.

The imprinting process was extremely smooth, and a beautiful diamond-shaped pattern quickly appeared on the girl's fair wrist.

Touching the tattoo-like magical mark, Luna looked as if she had found an interesting toy. Curious, she injected her magic into the mark and tried to converse with Ivan in her mind.

On the way to the Great Hall, the two conversed in silence.

This feeling of having a mind-to-mind conversation was very new to Ivan.

It was only when class was about to start that the little witch seemed to get tired of it and broke off the mental communication.

Due to the O.W.L. exams that fifth year students had to take, the weekly curriculum was very demanding.

Despite Ivan's lack of interest in exams, he tried to keep his classes full in order to get as many GPA as possible.

The rest of the day passed without incident, the only thing that surprised Ivan was that Umbridge was able to get out of the hospital early, and despite the redness and swelling on her cheeks from the fall, she was extremely dedicated to her work.

Of course, from Ivan's point of view, Umbridge probably did not want to give up her position as High Inquisitor, as she was certain that the Ministry would send someone else to replace her.

Umbridge was clearly furious at her last inexplicable fall down the stairs.

Add to that the rumours that Trelawney had jinxed her, and Umbridge promptly ended her review of the professors, issued a questionnaire to all the students, and declared that the Ministry of Magic would expel the worst of the teachers!

However, Professor Trelawney herself was not at all self-conscious, and perhaps did not think she would be the worst of the lot!

Unfortunately, the results of the questionnaire came out the next day, and Trelawney was honoured by the vast majority of her students to be voted the worst of all teachers.

Umbridge was so pleased with the result that she burst into the Divination classroom that day and, in front of everyone, enthusiastically informed Trelawney that she could pack up and go!

"No, that's impossible… sixteen years… sixteen years of conscientiousness… you mustn't insult me like that." Professor Trelawney screamed with excitement the moment he received the notice, his eyes bulging and his whole body shaking with sobs.

"Apparently, you didn't divine that you were going to be fired, did you? Which suggests that your Divination skills are not all that useful…"

Umbridge sneered, pleased at Trelawney's reaction, and continued in a high-pitched voice, "Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that you have no skill at all, but have somehow managed to fool the Headmaster into becoming a Professor at Hogwarts…"

'How dare you speak like that and slander my Inner Eye!' Trelawney glared angrily at Umbridge, who would have been torn to pieces if looks could kill.

Umbridge, however, did not care and forced Trelawney out.

Ivan, sitting in the corner of the classroom, was surprised to see Trelawney being led away.

He had guessed that his teasing of Umbridge would involve Trelawney, but he did not expect Umbridge to act so quickly, bypassing the Ministry's complicated procedures in one day, and allowing Fudge to authorise her expulsion from Hogwarts.

"Come on, let's go take a look!" Ivan said to Hermione and the others, standing up.

Even if he did nothing, Trelawney would still be sacked by Umbridge, but he had something to do with it and it would not do to leave him alone.

Hermione, Harry, and Ron followed suit, and by the time they reached the Great Hall, it was packed with onlookers, including the professors who had been notified.
