Chapter 636 - Memories of the Past

In a daze, Hermione felt as if she were in a dream, reliving many memories.

The panic of a magical outburst as a child and the joy of an eleven-year-old receiving an acceptance letter…

So there really was magic in this world!

Shortly after, the Hogwarts professor made a deliberate visit to her home to persuade her parents to accept her into the school, informing them that Diagon Alley, the wizarding market, was accessible through the Leaky Cauldron.

Upon hearing this, Hermione begged her father to take her to Diagon Alley in advance, and while she was there, she bought a large number of extra-curricular books from Flourish and Blotts.

The first was to learn more about the magical world.

Second, Hermione was worried that she would not be able to keep up with the others once she started school.

She believed that those born to wizarding families must have learned a lot of magic early on, and she could not accept that she would be the worst student in her class!

However, upon actually entering Hogwarts, Hermione realised that she had been imagining things, and that the young wizards from wizarding families were not much better than she was.

On the contrary, most of the time, she was the first one to complete the tasks assigned to her by her professors, and her homework, which was a pain in the neck for many people, seemed very easy to Hermione. She even had a lot of time every day to read extra books on magic to improve her knowledge!

Far ahead of her peers in learning, Hermione became somewhat complacent.

It was not until a few days after she started school that she had her first setback outside the library.

"I think everyone has their own way of learning!"

She never forgot what the blond wizard had said.

After displaying the level of her Transfiguration Spell, the other party arrogantly turned around and left, leaving her alone!

Hermione was furious, but more than anything else, she was competitive and refused to believe that she was any worse than anyone else. Over the next few days, she worked even harder, but the gap between them did not narrow at all.

She was no longer the only one in the classroom. Evangeline always managed to get to her feet before she could think of an answer and raise her hand to answer the question.

This infuriated Hermione even more!

However, as a result of this, she paid more attention to the blond wizard and noticed that Yvonne had secretly hooked her broomstick with her foot during the first flying lesson, earning her praise from Madam Hooch…

Hermione scoffed at the idea of cheating to gain the professor's approval,

Ivan's subsequent altercation with Malfoy further upset her, and she wondered what would have happened if she had failed to cast the Levitation Charm and Malfoy had fallen and been injured.

Gryffindor will definitely get a lot of points deducted!

While Ivan was being bullied, the young witch was having a difficult time with the other students. The young Gryffindor wizards were very mischievous, and some of them did not take the school rules seriously!

This was, no doubt, intolerable to Hermione, and if they were caught breaking the rules, Gryffindor would not get the House Cup this year!

Unfortunately, no one seemed to enjoy her lectures, and her attempts at persuasion always ended in failure.

In fact, the only people Hermione vaguely felt isolated from were Harry, Ron, Yvonne, and her roommates.

However, things did not go as planned!

A few days later, she overheard Ron complaining behind her back, and realised that her last few friends were probably just people she thought she was.

Unable to contain her emotions any longer, Hermione fled to the girls' bathroom and cried for hours, even missing the Hallowe'en feast.

After crying for a while, Hermione heard a loud noise coming from the corridor outside. It didn't stop for a while, and out of curiosity, she wiped her tears and walked out. The first thing she saw was the troll standing at the other end of the corridor!

Prior to this, she had only read about these disgusting, gigantic creatures in books, but now they were standing right in front of her. Fear made her forget to run, and she could only watch in shock as the troll approached.

At that moment, Hermione thought she was going to die… but Ivan appeared out of nowhere, grabbed her, and dodged the troll's swinging sticks… and effortlessly used a few transformed Iron Thorns as a trap to kill the monstrous beast!

Nervousness, uncertainty, fear, gratitude, and a smidgen of emotion filled Hermione's mind.

The young witch wanted to keep thinking about it, looking back on her time with Ivan, but her subconscious was urging her to wake up…

Ivan, who was watching all of this in unison, was deeply impressed. He had not expected to have such an image of himself in Hermione's mind at first.

Come to think of it, he did bully the little girl a little, and put Hermione down.

Of course, he did not do it on purpose. In the end, he did it to earn achievement points to improve his strength.

He was able to defeat a troll within half a year of entering the school. All of his preparations, daily practice, and reserved GPA were indispensable!

Ivan could still remember that thrilling battle. If it weren't for the fact that his card was powerful enough, he would have fled in panic.

However, after going back through Hermione's memories, Yvonne found that, from an onlooker's point of view, she was extremely handsome!

Whether it was a quick counter-attack after rolling and dodging, or a precise calculation of where the Iron Thorns would fall, the restriction on the troll's movements seemed perfect. It was done in one go, and within seconds of the battle, the troll was at his feet.

Ivan thought narcissistically as he relived the little witch's complicated emotional changes.

However, as Ivan anticipated what would follow, the dream world suddenly became unstable, shaking as if an earthquake had struck, and then the world shattered with a bang…and Ivan's consciousness was kicked out of him.

By the time Ivan recovered from his daze, the system's prompt was ringing in his head.

[Ding! After a period of practice, the proficiency of Legilimency has greatly increased. Current level: 3 (781/800)!]

Hermione was breathing heavily, cold sweat beading on her forehead. It was not easy to resist Legilimency by force of will, and this was only possible if Ivan did not forcibly cast his magic, otherwise her resistance would be pointless.

"Hermione, are you all right?" Ivan asked with concern, ignoring the fact that she was glad her Legilimency had improved.
