Chapter 583 - Learning Alchemy

Nick Flamel, naturally, caught Ivan's potential line and was caught between laughter and tears.

He had no problem repairing an alchemical object.

The point was, however, that it would not be appropriate for him to put his emotions into the pendant, so Nick Flamel shook his head and refused Ivan's request.

"I'll teach you the relevant channeling magic in the next few days. It's up to you to fix it," Nick Flamel said.

Ivan's eyes lit up. If he could learn how to channel his emotions, not only would he be able to fix this crescent pendant, but he might also be able to create some powerful magical tools that would allow him to improve his alchemy skills.

"By the way, Teacher! Can you tell when this pendant was made?" Ivan suddenly asked.

"From the wear and tear of the mythril, I'd say it must have been fourteen years ago…" Nick Flamel hesitated as he tried to answer Ivan's question, then flipped the locket over and looked at the name engraved on it. "As for the name, it's a bit later. It was engraved more than three years ago."

Fourteen years ago…?

Yvonne had a thought. It would have been around the time she was born…

The name on the locket was engraved three years ago, at exactly the same time he entered Hogwarts.

This caused Ivan to have some doubts. If this crescent was meant for him, it should have been engraved with his name and hung around his neck after he was born.

As far as he could remember, Alicia had never worn one herself.

Why was a magical object capable of resisting the Death Curse sealed for so many years after its creation?

Yvonne frowned, unable to make head or tail of it.

"If there's any doubt, why don't you just ask her?" Nick Flamel suggested as he watched Ivan ruminate.

Ivan shrugged helplessly. He had wanted to ask the question.

However, if Alicia saw the broken necklace, she would immediately know that she had almost died at Hogwarts.

Knowing Alicia, she would fly into a rage and possibly go after Dumbledore, which is why Ivan has been dragging his feet.

When Ivan didn't answer, Nick Flamel knew he had his concerns, so he didn't ask any more questions. Instead, he went on to explain the advanced alchemical knowledge.

By unspoken agreement, Ivan left the matter alone for the moment and concentrated on his studies.

A month passed in the blink of an eye, and under Nick Flamel's guidance, Ivan's skill in alchemy improved by leaps and bounds.

Although there was still a long way to go before his skill could reach level seven, his long proficiency level was already half full.

Ivan was very pleased with the progress he had made in just over a month, as Nick Flamel's description and his own conjectures suggested that there would be a drastic change from Level Six to Level Seven!

To Ivan's delight, Nick Flamel finally relented and accepted him as a disciple, promising to officially take him in as soon as he had repaired the crescent moon pendant!

With a clear goal in mind, Yvonne worked even harder, using her GPA to speed up her studies. A week earlier, Yvonne had finished reading the books recommended by Nick Flamel.

Ivan spent the rest of his time in the workshop experimenting with his knowledge of alchemy, particularly considering how to repair the crescent moon pendant.

Several days earlier, Ivan had learned from Nick Flamel that there are two ways to use emotional force.

The first method was to use a specific charm to assist in infusing a strong and pure emotion into an alchemical object.

The advantage was that it was very easy and time-consuming, but the disadvantage was that it was very difficult, and if it failed, the alchemy item would become extremely unstable, possibly resulting in certain risks.

The second method was more troublesome and took too long, so he didn't even consider it.

Ivan thought to himself, but his hands did not stop moving. He waved the carving knife in his hand and engraved runes on a talisman.

Focus … channel your emotions!

Ivan did his best to follow the instructions given to him by Nick Flamel, and it took him several hours to inscribe the final rune.

"I hope it works!"

Ivan glanced guiltily at the amulet he had made, then cast an Armor Charm on himself, worried. He closed his eyes and tried to recall what had happened when he was in danger.

This spell is somewhat similar to the Charm of Coagulation and Happiness, in that it condenses emotions…

Ivan tried to remember, his heart filled with the desire to protect himself, and then he pulled out his wand and held the tip of it against the amulet and tried to put some magic into it.

Strands of silver "string" floated from the tip of the wand into the amulet, and the runes engraved on the surface of the amulet lit up one by one.

If Ivan opened his eyes, he would see that the silver "threads" were not pure, and there were also some black and red lights mixed in. It was because of this that the talisman's color became darker and darker, and gradually became hot.

Ivan's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden palpitation in his heart, and he opened his eyes to see the amulet in a strange state.

Ivan's face suddenly changed, and he waved his wand, sending a blast of air that knocked the amulet flying into a nearby pool.

Bang!

The next moment, there was a silent explosion. The talisman's violent magic was completely out of control, causing the water in the pool to splash everywhere. It was as if the entire studio was raining.

"What a pity… I failed again!" Ivan sighed as he watched this. A thin barrier of magic flashed around him, keeping the water droplets out. He waved his wand again and began to cast the Restoration Charm to clean up the mess.

A few seconds later, under the influence of magic, everything seemed to return to normal as Ivan retrieved the badly damaged amulet from the pool, shook his head, and dropped it into a bin.

[Ding, after a period of practice, your level of alchemy has improved slightly, current level 6 (8129/16000)]

In her head, the system notification sounded, but Ivan ignored it, looking frustrated.

During the course of the week, he attempted many similar experiments, all of which failed, resulting in a large number of failures.

It seemed that gathering strong and pure emotions was more difficult than he had imagined!
