Chapter 566 - Training Ground

"Reducto! (Crushed to pieces)"

"Stupefy! (Stupefy)"

"Protego! (armour protecting)"

In the secret underground room of the Wizarding Market in Knockturn Alley, dozens of wizards were fighting one-on-one on the wide training ground.

Charms of all kinds flew everywhere, and from time to time, a few defeated wizards would fall to the ground howling or simply unconscious.

This kept Doggett busy, as he was the only one proficient in healing magic.

Ivan, of course, was not idle. He wandered around the training ground alone, occasionally pointing out the mistakes that wizards made in battle and the problems they had with their spells.

Despite his young age, he was much more accomplished in the art of charm than the average adult wizard, thanks to his three years of legendary learning.

The best Transfiguration Charms were even good enough to fill the position of Professor at Hogwarts, and it was no problem to correct these average wizards.

Yvonne walked to the middle of the training ground, where she happened to see Grace engaged in combat with a tall, thin wizard.

Ivan, who had watched the entire battle, walked slowly towards them.

After being hit by the curse, the tall, skinny wizard crashed into the wall behind him and struggled to his feet, clutching his chest.

However, when he stood up again, he was shocked to see Ivan standing in front of him.

"H-Herr Hals!"

The wizard's head was bowed and his expression was tense, as if he feared he would be punished for his poor performance.

"Well…" Ivan stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, brushing the dust off and smiling. "Relax, it's normal to lose a battle, the important thing is to learn from your training and avoid the same predicament in a real battle."

"Any idea where you lost?" Ivan asked.

"It's because I'm too weak. My magic can't break the Shield Charm!" the tall, skinny wizard replied after a moment's hesitation.

He attributed his loss to the fact that Grace had mastered the Shield Charm and he had not, thus widening the gap.

Wizards who could cast Shield Charms on themselves tended to have the upper hand in most duels, as the Shield Charms were able to ward off most spells and reflect them back at them.

Therefore, during the battle just now, he was restrained and could not see the possibility of winning.

Ivan shook his head and said, "No, it has nothing to do with the mastery of powerful magic. It's just that your mind is too solid! Small, seemingly harmless spells can be very useful if you use them well!"

The tall, thin wizard inclined his head as if he had been taught a lesson, although he was not impressed.

There were only two ways he could think of to break the Shield Charm.

They could either use high-intensity magic, such as the Exploding Spell, to instantly break through the Armour Charm's defences, or they could use the Killing Charm, an irresistible spell, to one-shot their enemies.

As for the other spells, they didn't work very well and would bounce back and hurt you…

Ivan was well-versed in Legilimency, so he was naturally able to read the wizard's mind. However, he did not refute Ivan's words. Instead, he smiled and turned to speak to Grace.

"Grace, now that you've defeated your opponent, why don't we have a match?"

"Ah? This…" Grace's face turned pale. She thought about how this young wizard had transformed into a giant and grabbed Reese Nott in his hand, then killed him with a snap of his fingers. For a moment, she was on the verge of tears.

"May I admit defeat, Sir Harls?" Grace asked meekly.

"You have to have a little faith in yourself, Grace! How about this? For the rest of the battle, I'll only use the most basic spells…" Ivan shook his head speechlessly and tried to comfort her.

Grace pulled her head back, but didn't have the courage to refuse, so she made a few mental quips. Even the Armor Charm, which was so hard to learn, seemed like a basic charm to Ivan, so she didn't expect much from him.

"Protego! (armour protecting)"

Even though her heart was racing, Grace pulled herself together and quickly cast an Armor Charm on herself.

On the bright side, this duel was also an opportunity. If he performed well, he might be able to make an exception and enter the law enforcement team.

The monthly salary of sixty Galleons made Grace very envious. Now that she had joined the Law Enforcement Squad, she did not have to live so prudently. In a few years, she might even be able to own a house outside Knockturn Alley.

There was no disguising the conversation between Ivan and Grace and everyone on the training ground heard it loud and clear.

The wizards who were still fighting stopped and looked curiously at the pair.

They were more interested in seeing this asymmetrical battle than the practice they could practise at any time, and some of the wizards who had just surrendered were wondering how long Grace would last against Ivan.

"You ready?" Ivan asked casually.

Gripping her wand tightly in her right hand, Grace nodded nervously, but she didn't dare attack, hoping that she would be able to hold out for a few more rounds and show her strength.

Ivan, on the other hand, had no intention of attacking immediately. Instead, he turned his attention to the onlookers, especially the tall, thin wizard.

"The Shield Charm is a very practical protective spell that creates an invisible magical barrier around the caster, protecting them from all sides."

"But there are limits to its protection, and it can only bounce off a specified magical beam! We can counter that!"

As Ivan explained the situation to the group, he quickly raised his wand and pointed it at Grace.

"It's full of obstacles!" Grace had been staring at Ivan nervously, but when he raised his wand, she seemed to be agitated and quickly created a solid wall in front of her.

Under this double protection, Grace felt that even some high-level spells could be resisted!

However, to her surprise, Ivan's wand did not emit a beam of magic. Instead, the sound of the wind came from behind her.

At the same time, Ivan spoke.

"Chair, fly!"

When Ivan raised his wand, the square chair placed a short distance behind him was summoned and flew off like an arrow.
