Doggart was disappointed to hear this.
Ivan's question proved that he was indeed trying to recruit pure-blood wizards, and the alliance between Rosier and the others was inevitable.
At this point, it would not be wise for Doggett to object explicitly.
Because this was not all bad, and with the help of these pure-bloods, many things would be easier in the future, Doggett said after thinking about it for a while.
"Rózier certainly has the ability to do so, and if you accede to his request, he will be able to use it as a bargaining chip in front of the pure-bloods to defuse any previous conflicts.
If he had been smarter, he could have convinced the captured pure-bloods to surrender and start a faction. As for trying to get rid of old Nott? Probably because Nott had a certain amount of prestige among the pure-bloods and would have been an obstacle to him."
Doggett went on and on, guessing exactly what Rosier was thinking.
After a moment's hesitation, Doggett went on to suggest, "No matter what, Rosier is a rebel, and she may not be a good leader! You could put a nail in them and keep them under your thumb."
Ivan nodded. As Doggett had said, some precautions had to be taken.
This was especially true since Rozelle and the pure-bloods had only recently joined the ranks, and were previously enemies. It would not do for them to conspire against each other in secret.
Ivan, who had seen a great deal of intrigue in his previous life, was also well aware of the importance of checks and balances.
Ivan, however, did not agree on the spot, and instead asked Gert what she thought of Noether Senior and what to do with him.
After Doggett answered all of his questions, Ivan told the man to go away. He needed some time alone to think.
He did not receive an accurate answer from Ivan, but when he left, Doggett was visibly pleased, as he knew that Ivan approved of his suggestion.
As long as the pure-bloods were not truly united, he would be much less threatened.
"It's so hard for me!" Ivan muttered to himself after Dougatt left the room.
He had never been particularly interested in governing his men, or in the struggle for power, and was a complete dabbler, operating only on scraps of information he had read in a previous life.
Every time he sat at the head of the table, he was on tenterhooks, afraid that he would say something wrong.
It would be nice if the system could value affinity and loyalty so that he knew who was loyal and who was up to no good.
Or at least let me know what's in everyone's mind…
Ivan thought greedily and shouted something to himself, but the system ignored him.
Fortunately, Ivan soon realised that there was another substitute, the mind-reading spell Legilimency!
Anyone who learns this will be able to easily see through the thoughts of others. In Ivan's opinion, this is a necessary spell for those in power, a cheat to manage complicated relationships!
Of course, Legilimency was not without weaknesses. Under normal circumstances, one could only read the surface of the other party's mind. If one dug deep into the other party's memories, they would be easily detected.
There was also a corresponding method of resistance, which was Occlumency!
Ivan was particularly impressed with Occlumency, which not only placed a protective barrier around one's mind against Legilimency, but also created false memories to confuse the other.
The original Time-Space Lisnep relied on his superb Occlumency to repeatedly jump around in front of two Legilimens and become a double agent!
This proved that if a person was too superstitious about the information obtained from Legilimency, then when they encountered a Occlumency Master, they would definitely be screwed!
However, it is rare to find a wizard in the British wizarding community who can do both, and it is likely that some talent is required.
Otherwise, there would not be so few people who could use such practical magic, so there was no need to worry about capsizing against ordinary wizards.
With that in mind, Ivan left Borgin and Burkes without hesitation and headed straight for his library.
Ever since they moved all of the books in Borgin and Burkes, the number of books in the shop was comparable to that of some pure-blood families.
It took Ivan over an hour to dig out a few books on Legilimency from the sea of books, and then he sat down and started reading.
It was as if he had returned to the days of hard study, when Ivan spent the rest of his time studying Legilimency, other than eating and sleeping, and meeting with Rosier once to agree to his request.
This magic of prying into the minds of others was much more difficult than cultivating Occlumency!
There was a lot of high-end knowledge involved, and most of the books were written hundreds of years ago. They were not professionally edited and refined like textbooks, and the results were a lot of nonsense.
Perhaps the old-timers thought it would look high-end to put things in more convoluted terms?
Ivan couldn't understand what was going on, but as soon as he closed the copy of Legilimency—Magic to See into the Mind! in his hand, the system prompt sounded.
