Ivan's Invisibility Cloak hindered their senses, and the Dementors could only vaguely sense various thoughts floating out from Ivan's direction.
Ivan, on the other hand, was debating whether or not to get rid of the annoying creatures.
If a fight were to break out, it would cause quite a stir, and unless he was able to kill all of the Dementors, it would be reported.
The Ministry is bound to react to this!
Ivan had not heard anything about this before, so he was worried about changing history if he acted rashly.
Hermione, however, was having a hard time holding on. She was on the edge of her seat, and the memories that were flooding her mind were threatening to overwhelm her.
Noticing Hermione's unusual state of mind, Ivan became anxious, and when the Time-Turner in his chest burned hotter, he was no longer silent.
"Go away, there's nobody here!" Ivan yelled at the top of his voice.
The Dementors moved closer, not believing Ivan's claim that most people would not be flying to Hogwarts at this hour!
There is no proof, but they suspect that the man in front of them is the wanted criminal Sirius!
Dementors could not speak, but somehow managed to communicate their thoughts.
Ivan hesitated, not wanting to get into trouble with them, and then said, "I work at Hogwarts, and I found a lost hippogriff out there, so I'm taking it to the Forbidden Forest!"
The Dementors did not disperse. They were not intelligent, but they were not easily fooled by Ivan.
Crucially, they had been used by the unscrupulous Ministry of Magic as tools for searches, and had not had a good meal in days. Now that they had finally caught a man they suspected to be Sirius, they were not going to let him go so easily.
The hordes of Dementors were restless, impatient creatures, the Ministry's rules forgotten, and they knew only that they were hungry.
Very, very hungry …
One of the Dementors quickly drifted over to Ivan, reaching out with its withered, scabbed-over hands to remove something from Ivan that would affect their senses, allowing them to absorb more of the delicious emotions…
As the scabbed hand reached for the Dementor, a white light burst from the Cloak of Invisibility, and the Dementor was knocked back, crashing into several of its brethren.
The Dementors, who had been wandering nearby with some reservations, were enraged. They charged at Ivan in a swarm, blotting out the sky like a black wave, devouring everything in their path…
"Expecto Patronus!" cried Ivan, waving his wand to create a solid shield of white mist.
A large number of Dementors crashed into the shield made of white mist, creating ripples and sizzling sounds of corrosion.
Infuriated, the Dementors closest to him even removed their hoods, revealing their grotesque faces beneath.
Their heads were thin and dry, with thin skin crusted with ash where their eyes should have been, and a wide, empty mouth that sucked at something. The white mist shield thinned, and it became colder.
Hermione tried to lean back, shivering in Ivan's arms, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead, as a multitude of illusory, colourful objects were being stripped from her.
Ivan, who had his reservations, did not hold back,
While Ivan was unable to summon the Shadow of the Unicorn to prevent the Ministry of Magic from finding him, his Patronus Charm had improved considerably, allowing him to play many tricks.
With a wave of his wand, the white mist in the air condensed in a short period of time, turning into balls of light that crushed forward.
The few Dementors that were caught off guard could not dodge in time. They were smashed into pieces and their bodies began to disintegrate.
More Dementors from the rear closed in angrily, and the ball of light exploded, sending a white mist in all directions. Any Dementors that tried to get close were quickly blown away.
Despite the sheer number of Dementors at Hogwarts, the white mist created by Ivan's Patronus Charm was linked to special blood magic, and was far more powerful than the average wizard's spell.
Ivan didn't want to make a big deal out of it, so he simply used the Patronus Charm to knock the Dementors out of the way, then rode his Hippogriff through the crowd.
"Quick! To the Forbidden Forest!" Ivan shouted, relieved that the sun had returned. He quickly directed the hippogriff to fly as fast as it could.
Behind him, a large group of unwilling Dementors tried to catch up.
Ivan cast them out again and again.
After several attempts, the learnt monsters gave up trying to get close. Some of them went off to report on the situation, while others stayed far away.
Ivan ignored them. The Time-Turner around his neck was burning hot. Fortunately, the Hippogriff was very fast and flew into the Forbidden Forest in no time at all.
Yvonne jumped down from the hippogriff's back and turned to Hermione, who had gone quite pale.
"Hermione, are you all right?"
Hermione shook her head, assuring Ivan that she was feeling better now that she was away from the disgusting Dementors.
The Hippogriff suddenly let out a cry and glared at Hermione with its large orange eyes.
Ivan was surprised at first, but then noticed that Hermione's hands seemed to be covered in reddish-brown feathers.
"I was a little nervous and I kept wanting to grab something, so… I'm sorry!" Hermione said apologetically, sticking her tongue out sheepishly at the hippogriff.
The hippogriff was not impressed, and it proudly raised its head, but was finally appeased by Ivan, though it did not allow Hermione to pet it again.
The little witch seemed very disappointed,
Ivan smiled and was about to offer some words of comfort when the space around them froze.
"Damn it, so fast, why can't it wait a little longer!" Ivan wanted to curse, but he could not make a sound. He could only watch as time passed…
