"I'm starving!" Dagget hurried to the round table, grabbed a bacon omelet, stuffed it into his mouth, and gulped down a large bowl of polenta.
Ivan didn't want to talk to Walker any longer, so he asked.
"Dean Dougett, how did it go?"
"It's as I expected! The Ministry of Magic takes this incident very seriously, but it's just for show. They're still trying to figure out what to do with the account book. It might take a month or two just to discuss the meeting…" Dougett explained with a casual wave of his hand.
Ivan was completely relieved. He didn't know when the Ministry would finish their meeting, so he didn't have time to track them down.
However, Ivan was curious about Dougett's source.
Their raid on Borgin and Burkes was late last night, and even if the Aurors had stayed up all night, it would have taken less than half a day.
Doggett must have bribed a high-ranking Ministry official to get accurate information so quickly.
"What about Borgin and Burkes? What's the Ministry going to do with it?" Ivan asked, remembering that Burkes's shop seemed to be empty now.
He thought Borgin and Burkes was a good location, at the junction of Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley.
What's more, Ivan knew that there was a damaged Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin and Burkes, which could be used to teleport directly to Hogwarts…
It was through there that a large number of Death Eaters entered Hogwarts Castle, triggering the Battle of the Astronomy Tower.
Ivan would have liked to be in control of the place if he could.
Doggett read Ivan's mind and shook his head after a moment's hesitation.
"Don't even think about the wizarding shop. There are a lot of people out there after it! It's just that they think Burke is missing rather than dead, so they haven't done anything about it yet. Let's just watch. Let them fight each other!"
Ivan felt it was a pity, but he didn't think too much of it. After all, the most valuable thing in the wizarding shop was the knowledge of how to make magical objects, which they could get their hands on.
After a quick breakfast, Ivan sneaked away while Alicia and Hermione were still chatting, in case she caught him and scolded him. He then went to the market in Diagon Alley to buy some potion ingredients and cauldron, and started brewing a dose of Veritaserum.
As a high-level potion, Veritaserum was not easy to brew.
Fortunately, Ivan's potion level had been raised to a very high level, and it was not the first time he had made Veritaserum, so he could naturally guarantee the success rate of brewing the potion.
After carefully grinding the various potion ingredients, Ivan added the prepared potions to the cauldron, stirred them, and finally covered the cauldron.
The brewing of advanced potions usually took some time, and could not be rushed.
During the few days she was waiting for the truth-telling potion to be completed, Yvonne went on to study the book Hermione had brought with her.
He also did not forget to remind Dougett, Fran, and the others to keep their distance from the shop so that Dobby would not see them and cause a stir in history.
It is also worth mentioning that Burke, who was captured, was unusually tough over the past few days, stating that he would rather starve to death than reveal anything!
Ivan had no choice but to give Burke a Stunning Spell every day to keep him asleep, in order to prevent him from killing himself while he was conscious.
There was nothing Ivan could do about the hunger strike,
After days of not eating or drinking, Burke's body became thinner and thinner. Fortunately, when he was about to starve to death, the truth serum was finally brewed.
Just as the potion was brewing, the system prompt sounded at the same time.
[Ding, after some practice, your Potions proficiency has increased. Current level: 5 (1690/3200)!]
Ivan glanced at his system bar. Due to his frequent use of the Time-Turner to learn various subjects and practice common charms, most of the spells in his status bar had been upgraded to level five.
This meant that, even without special blood magic, his Charms were superior to that of most adult wizards, and his most powerful Transfiguration Charm was close to Level 6.
Ivan took the brewed Veritaserum and found Burke tied up in the storage room.
Over the course of the past few days, Burke had lost all of the charm he had when they first met. He was filthy, covered in dirt and grime, his cheeks were blue, and he was so thin you could see the bones of his face. Other than breathing, he looked like a corpse.
Ivan pulled out his wand to remove Burke's Stunning Spell. After waiting for a while, Burke stirred and forced his eyelids open.
Burke opened his eyes and looked around. He felt weak and his stomach was empty. He was starving.
As soon as he saw Ivan, Burke's eyes filled with hatred, and he understood why Ivan had kept him alive.
Burke gave Ivan a weak look and said, "Give up! I won't say anything!"
"Is that so?" Ivan's lip curled in disbelief, and he took the Veritaserum out of his wizard's robes. To Burke's horror, he opened his mouth and dripped a few drops onto it.
Burke's frightened face slowly calmed and his eyes lost their focus.
Ivan tried to ask a few questions, and Burke answered them all, explaining everything about the attack. It seemed that the truth serum was working.
"Then where is the library? I mean the books on the creation of magical objects," Ivan asked, getting to the point.
"It's in a hidden door in the right-hand corner of the basement, and the key to it is the locket I wear around my neck," Burke said blankly.
Ivan pulled Burke's collar, and sure enough, there was a glittering silver pendant around his neck that looked like a small seal.
Ivan removed the pendant, then hesitated before continuing. "Is there anything to look out for there?"
Burke answered with a blank stare.
"The library is protected from the light by a spell. It is extremely dark inside, and if anyone attempts to cast a illumination spell inside, the secret door will close after thirty seconds, and the library will turn into a sea of fire that will devour everything!"
