Chapter 179 - The Sorting Hat Must Be Crazy to Assign You to Gryffindor!

After Hermione corrected her mistakes, Ivan gave up on the treatment altogether and simply placed the questionnaire in front of Hermione, asking her to write it for him.

"This is Professor Lockhart's homework, and I'm not going to do it for you!" Hermione protested.

In the end, however, the young witch managed to fill up the entire questionnaire, as Ivan's random scribbles were too much for her to bear.

On the way back to the dormitory, Harry and Ron looked at Ivan strangely, thinking that he hated Lockhart as much as they did.

Ivan, of course, knew what they were thinking and explained to avoid any misunderstanding.

"Don't you think Professor Lockhart is very easy to fool? You just have to go along with him and you'll easily get high marks in every class. Maybe he'll give everyone who likes him an O (Outstanding) on their final exams!"

Harry and Ron disdain to please Lockhart, but the temptation of scoring points in their final exams does hit home.

Besides, it was homework. Even if they didn't want to, they had to fill out the damn questionnaire.

The only good thing is that they were able to take Ivan's copy and save a lot of time turning the pages…

Yvonne was sitting in a corner, flipping open a black-covered diary and discussing spell-free techniques with Tom Riddle.

Harry and Ron didn't mind; Yvonne had always been a reader during her first year of school, and it was normal for her to take notes…

Such an idea allowed Ivan not to spend too much time disguising himself, and to do so in a way that would not arouse suspicion.

The next day, during Charms and History of Magic classes, Ivan tried to bring the Horcrux Diary to class as he thought it was too easy.

It is worth noting that Tom Riddle was shocked to learn that the young wizard in front of him was a Gryffindor.

He thought the Sorting Hat must have been mad to assign this over-cautious young wizard from Knockturn Alley to Gryffindor House.

Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, which of them was less suitable than Gryffindor?

Yvonne did not explain, guessing that the Sorting Hat was a result of examining her memories.

Prior to his time-travel, "Ivan-Hals" rarely ventured outside due to his living in Knockturn Alley, and his unusually forceful and doting mother lacked some courage.

Perhaps the Sorting Hat thought that Sorting him into Gryffindor House would make up for his character flaws, as Neville did in the book…

Yvonne closed the cover of the diary, having second thoughts about the mission of Bloodline Mystery.

Despite Tom Riddle's continued lack of information, Ivan did not forget how he came by the book.

It was the reward for another quest to explore Hogwarts.

During her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ivan was so busy stealing potions and brewing the Bloodline Fusion Potion that she completely forgot about this task.

[Mission Objective: Explore Hogwarts

Current progress: 51/100

Task status: 40% progress (completed), reward "Bloodline Origin" (released)

Progress: 70% (incomplete)

Progress 100% (uncompleted)

Task Description: The curiosity to explore the unknown is something every minor wizard should have. The Millennium Castle contains countless secrets. Please explore and understand them. When the exploration progresses to a certain level, there will be rewards based on performance.]

Looking back at the mission list, Ivan found that the system update had added changes to the mission's display, and even listed the rewards needed for the subsequent conditions.

"We're only halfway there? That's too little, isn't it?" Ivan was surprised. He thought he already knew the castle well, but then he looked at the Marauder's Map and realized something.

There were indeed many places he had not been to, such as the location of the three academies.

He didn't even fully explore the Gryffindor House Lounge. He never went to the girls' room…

All that was left were the classrooms for the seniors, as well as the Basilisk Chamber, a place of mystery that would not be shown on a map.

Ivan marked the places they were going to with a magic pen on the Marauder's Map.

Remove those mysterious places,

Classrooms in his senior year were the least dangerous, so all he needed to do was to use the Unlocking Charm when no one was around.

It was also easy to get into the Tri-College Lounge, with Ravenclaw answering questions, Slytherin entering passwords,

Slightly more troublesome was Hufflepuff's common room, which was said to be so secure that no one had seen it for over a thousand years.

Of course, this was referring to normal lounges and boys' dormitories. Girls' dormitories were particularly dangerous. If one was caught…

Ivan shuddered. I'm finished. If I'm fired for this, my reputation will be ruined and I'll be in the headlines of the Daily Prophet tomorrow!

So Ivan put this at the very back.

If the progress bar still could not reach its target even after everything else was done, Ivan would have to risk his life with Polyjuice Potion…

It was easier than trying to get information out of Tom…

With that in mind, Ivan put away the Marauder's Map and resumed his nocturnal travels.

After Harry, Ron, and the others had fallen asleep, Ivan quietly got up, cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself, and slipped out of the Gryffindor Lounge.

"Weird, is someone out?" The plump lady in the portrait moved aside as usual, but when no one came out, she asked curiously.

No one replied for a long time, so the fat lady had to block the passage again.

Ivan, now gone, wandered through the castle like an invisible ghost, following the directions given by the Marauder's Map to rooms that had not been visited.

It was possible to do this during the day, but as a second year student, his frequent entry and exit into the classroom of his senior year was suspicious.

"Alohomora!"

As they descended lower and lower, Ivan entered the basement, cast a charm to break the lock, and entered one of the Potions classrooms.

It appeared to be quite spacious, with bottles and jars soaking in an unknown liquid.

Unlike the second-year Potions classroom, the walls were covered with horrible pictures, but they were too dark to see clearly.

"Fluorescence!" Ivan waved his wand and cast a Illuminating Charm, sending faint fluorescence out in all directions from the tip of his wand…
