Chapter 143 - We Werewolves Are Poor, But… We Still Have Blood!

Three Galleons for a bottle of blood?

Ivan's words echoed through the hall, stirring the hearts of the suspicious werewolf wizards.

Three Galleons was not a lot, but it was a lot to them.

It must be noted that few wizards in Knockturn Alley were willing to let werewolves work, and even if they did, the wages would be pathetic, only a few Galleons a month.

Now that they could earn more than half a month's salary with just a little bit of blood, they were naturally very tempted. Even Fran began to hesitate.

Walker was furious when Ivan, a young wizard who had just defeated him, offered to buy their blood for a few Galleons.

"Enough! No one here will sell you blood!" Walker shouted, standing and pointing his wand at Ivan.

Yvonne ignored him, speaking loudly.

"Four Galleons a bottle!"

As Ivan spoke, the werewolves in the hall grew more excited, but no one chose to speak up.

Walker was relieved to see this, and turned to Ivan with a smug look on his face, trying to tell him that even poor wizards had dignity!

However, Walker did not know, and nobody spoke, only hoping Ivan would continue to bid…

Dignity and bloodthirstiness had long since been worn down by years of ostracism and discrimination. At most, they had some bottom lines that could not be crossed…

Ivan knew this as well, so instead of raising the price any further, he added a limit.

"I only need five bottles of blood!"

The next moment, the werewolf wizards, who had been silent, could no longer sit still. They put down their bread porridge and leaned over.

"Five bottles of blood. We agreed on twenty Galleons. I can give it to you!"

"With my blood, they are too old. Mine is more vibrant!"

"Five bottles is too little. Are you sure it's enough for research? Don't you need more? We can spare a hundred bottles…"

Walker stared at the werewolf wizards who were rolling up their sleeves, ready to bleed, and something in him broke…

Turning abruptly to face Ivan, Walker expected to be met with a mocking glare, perhaps even a sarcastic remark.

Ivan, however, did not even look at him. Instead, he was talking to the eager werewolf wizards.

"Don't worry, everyone. There's a bottle of blood for everyone!"

Feeling ignored, Walker's face turned red, then white, then he ran into the yard…

Ivan simply ignored him. This brat lacked the harshness of society. He would be good after a few days of hunger…

He waved his wand, and the cups on the table began to twist and transform into several large beakers… Ivan was very good at it, and each beaker could hold around six hundred milliliters of werewolf blood.

This bleeding did not interfere with their daily routine, and any more than that could cause discomfort.

After all, Ivan wasn't a devil, and he cared a lot about these blood banks… well, he was very understanding of these werewolf wizards.

Ivan estimated that the blood would be enough to produce over thirty bottles of the Wolfsbane Elixir, both as a sample and for early sale.

Such a large bottle? The werewolf wizards looked at the large beakers on the table, and no one dared to say anything about buying all of them at once. Apart from Walker, there were five other werewolf wizards present, and all of them obediently started bleeding.

At first, Ivan wanted to transfigure a few needles to help him draw blood, but the werewolves were so impatient that they cut their wrists and started bleeding!

Seeing this, Flan sighed, rolled up her sleeves, and joined the bloodletting.

Scarlet blood trickled down his wrist and into the beaker.

Yvonne was once again impressed by the extraordinary regenerative abilities of the werewolf wizards, especially Fran, who had to cut her wrist again to stop the bleeding before it filled the beaker.

Ivan wondered if he had underestimated the werewolves' ability to heal so quickly. He should have gotten a bigger bottle.

Before long, the beakers were filled to the brim with blood, and the werewolf wizards stared at Ivan, waiting for him to pay the promised gold Galleons.

Ivan did not disappoint them. He took twenty Galleons from his robes and placed them on the table.

"After you've had your blood drawn, you'd better eat something nutritious for a while. Bread porridge is not enough to fill your stomach, and it's not good for your recovery. If you can, it's best to buy cheap tonics… or go to the Muggle market and buy some red dates to chew on…"

After receiving the Galleons, the werewolf wizards, who were initially disgusted by the idea of selling their blood, were touched by Ivan's genuine concern.

Due to their special status, few normal wizards would approach them, let alone care for them, and would usually only huddle together for warmth.

Ivan's affinity began to kick in after his mood turned positive, and by the time he left, the relationship had warmed considerably.

At least it's not as guarded and guarded as it was in the beginning…

Ivan was pleased with this. Once the Wolfsbane Potion needed to be produced in large quantities, these werewolf wizards would make an excellent blood bank.

It wasn't until early evening that Ivan finally left, along with five large bottles of werewolf blood.

On the way, Ivan passed through a deserted street and suddenly stopped. Dougster was holding his wand, his eyes full of amusement.

As far as the eye could see, at the end of the street, a thin figure was standing there. It was Walker, who had run out because of his hernia.

"Can I help you? Or are you just going to give me a run for my money?" Yvonne asked.

"I wouldn't have lost if you two hadn't ganged up on me!" Walker snapped angrily. His memory of the time he had transformed into a wolf was still fresh, so he had no idea Ivan had blown up an entire stone wall with one spell.

Ivan's eyebrows shot up, and he was surprised to see that Walker seemed out of sorts. His face was deathly pale, and his lips were bloodless.

Were they here to scam him?

Various thoughts flashed through Ivan's mind, and he was confused when Walker suddenly threw two bottle-like objects at him. Ivan caught them only to find that they contained blood. He stared at Walker in shock…
