"Alright, pay attention…"
Doggett slammed his wand against the lock, breaking it and flinging the case open. He then retreated to the other side of the room to avoid being targeted by the Dementors.
The next moment, the surroundings seemed to darken, and the box containing the Dementors looked even darker.
Cold … dead …
Yvonne felt as if she had been plunged into an ice cellar, and something was sucking the heat from her body.
Then a withered, scabby hand came out of the trunk and a strange, cloaked figure appeared.
It seemed to have no legs, and was simply suspended in the air… its exposed body was so rotten you could see its bones…
Ivan had seen the pitted arms of a werewolf, and he had seen Chino's body burned by fire, but it was nothing compared to the Dementor, which looked like a desiccated corpse in rags, with an empty shell underneath…
Ivan tried his best to recall happy memories, but to no avail. He felt as if he were lying in a hospital bed again, the demon known as Illness draining his last vestiges of life bit by bit, and he could do nothing but watch as he died.
Doggett took a sip of wine, his wand in his hand, ready to interfere. He thought Ivan might not be able to hold on, and hoped it would not traumatise him.
The Dementor was now floating in front of Ivan, breathing cold air, and then gradually peeling something illusory and colorful from Ivan's body and sucking it into its empty mouth…
At some point, the Dementor's withered fingers had grasped the brim of its hat and were about to pull it off, when Dagget, about to attack, stopped, because a wand was already in the Dementor's mouth…
"Expecto Patronus!"
Ivan shouted as death threatened him.
Colour returned to the dim, dead space, and with a hiss, brilliant light pierced the Dementor's body, and more light poured out of its ragged cloak.
A silent wail shook the air, and the Dementor's light body seemed to have suffered a heavy blow. Its body became illusory and it flew backwards, finally being forced into the box by the white fog.
Wisps of white mist were about to enter the box when it was suddenly covered up. It turned out that Doggett had walked over to the box and was cleaning up the mess.
"How do you feel? All right? I don't have any chocolates, maybe you could have a little…wine?" Dougatt asked, concerned.
"No, I'm fine… forget the wine." Ivan shook his head and glanced at the system panel.
This time, the pressure on him was extraordinary, and his lack of the Occlumency skill to ward off the Dementors' ability to absorb pleasure was not in vain.
"Go on!" Ivan said after a few minutes to compose himself.
"So soon? You don't need to rest for a while?" Dagget raised his eyebrows.
"Keep going!" Ivan insisted.
Doggett did as he was told, and the Dementor burst forth again, its face hidden by its cloak, but somehow Ivan could feel its anger…
"Expecto Patronus!" Ivan was very familiar with the Dementor, and his fear was greatly reduced. More importantly, the upgrade of his skill gave him joy…
The white mist appeared again, much more than before, and was even able to take the form of a Patronus. The white mist wrapped around the Dementor and pushed it back into the box.
[Ding, after practice, the proficiency of the Hundun Guard has greatly increased…]
"Whew…" Ivan looked at the system prompt and was very satisfied. Facing a Dementor head-on to train in the Summoning of Gods was indeed a fast increase in proficiency.
In that case, he might be able to reach Level 4 in one afternoon…
Yvonne spoke with great enthusiasm.
"Go on…"
There was a strange look on Doggett's face. Dementors had a terrifying ability to absorb pleasure and cause pain that even many adult wizards found difficult to face.
To his surprise, Ivan not only managed to withstand the pressure, but also became more and more excited. Although he was puzzled, Doggett did as he was told.
The third time he opened the chest, the Dementor was like a black rag, pressing down on Ivan's flat body and rushing towards him.
On the fourth try, the Dementor attempted to escape, but Doggett forced it back into the crate with the use of the Hume Guard.
The fifth time …
The sixth time …
Yvonne was having the time of her life. A Level 3 Hufflepuff wasn't enough to kill a Dementor, so she could practise without fear.
And every increase in proficiency prompts made him happier…
[Ding, after practice, the proficiency of the Hundun Guard has greatly increased…]
[Expanded to Level 4. Current Proficiency (1/1600). Reward: 20 GPA!]
After repelling the Dementors for the eleventh time, the system's prompt finally sounded in Ivan's mind.
The white mist that hung in the air slowly gathered, and the unicorn's long neighing could be heard clearly in the basement.
Dagget's eyebrows rose. He had noticed the difference in Ivan's personal guard, but thought it had something to do with Alicia, so he did not ask.
Now he wondered what Ivan's Patronus looked like.
At the last moment, however, the faint outline of a horse vanished into a white mist, and Doggett shook his head and sighed.
Ivan, however, did not look disappointed, as he had done this on purpose.
Although Doggett was one of the few people in Ivan's memory he could trust, Ivan had only known him for less than a day, and the Unicorn's Shadow was his greatest trump card, so the fewer people who knew about it, the better…
"Shall we continue?" Dagget asked.
Yvonne nodded. Since the Prowler was related to her blood magic, the higher the level, the better. It was a rare opportunity to have a Dementor as a sparring partner, so of course she had to practice as long as she could.
However, when Doggett opened the case for the twelfth time, Ivan was still standing on the sidelines, waiting for the Dementors to attack.
As Ivan wondered if he had killed the Dementor, a withered, rotting arm reached out, grabbed the lid and slammed it shut…
It thought it would be nice to stay in the suitcase and didn't want to come out…
Ivan stood in front of the suitcase, stunned, not expecting the Dementor's reaction.
Yvonne turned to look at Doggett with an odd expression.
Dougatt was also confused and said awkwardly, "Well… I think it might be tired today and needs to rest… Why don't we come back tomorrow?"
"I thought Dementors were supposed to be dark, cruel, chaotic-minded creatures," Ivan said.
"That's true, but they're intelligent enough to understand orders, otherwise the Ministry wouldn't be using Dementors to guard Azkaban," Doggett explained.
