"Duggart!"
Before Dagget could finish, Alicia came out of the basement and interrupted, her voice low and angry.
"Okay… okay… I get it. It's all in the past." Dougett didn't really want to talk about the past because it always reminded him of something angry.
Doggett left Ivan baffled,
Ten… ten what?
While Ivan was lost in his thoughts, Alicia threw a book at his head.
"Stick to your books and stop asking questions that don't matter…" Alicia scowled at him, then turned to Douget.
"You got what I need?"
"Of course, it's just that it's not easy to get hold of. You have to find a box that can hold it, and it took a lot of work to get it here."
Doggett kept complaining with a grin, but then changed his mind and patted his chest to show that this trouble was nothing if he could help…
Alicia was not interested in listening to this nonsense and threw the bag in her right hand.
"Is this enough?"
"What are you talking about? I'm just trying to be helpful. It's not like I'm making a deal." Dougett smiled ingratiatingly as he took the bag from Yvonne and tossed it back onto the counter.
The bag was not very big, and it hit the wooden counter very lightly, but there was a loud metallic noise inside.
Yvonne guessed that the bag had been expanded and its weight reduced.
Peering through the gap, he saw many golden Galleons inside…
The conversation between the two was also understood by Ivan, and the Galleon that had to be paid for could only have been a Dementor…
With that in mind, Yvonne was impressed with the middle-aged man. A former deputy director of St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries had such skills.
Ivan had no intention of touching the bag that Doggett had left on the table, as he knew his mother, Alicia, well enough to know that she would never accept help for nothing.
Doggett understood this and sighed, trying to persuade him otherwise.
"A few days ago, I received word that the Ministry of Magic was planning to make a major move in the near future in their search for Dark objects. Minister for Magic Fudge was very determined this time, and even the estates of the pure-blood wizarding families were under investigation. It's unlikely that anyone from the Ministry will find their way to Knockturn Alley, but it will affect business."
It occurred to Ivan that there had been a massive search prior to Harry's second year in the book.
Even the Malfoys were affected and had to deal with the Horcrux notebook, indicating that the Ministry's raid was no small affair.
Isiah's face fell. If the Ministry did this, there would be no big business for months to come.
After all, those who could really afford to buy magic items were mostly the rich people from pure-blood families. It was unrealistic to expect poor people from Knockturn Alley to spend money on them.
Even so, Alicia insisted.
"I'll take care of it. Keep the money."
Seeing that Alicia was so insistent, Doggett had no choice but to pocket the bag of Galleons.
This time, Alicia did not refuse, but Ivan was frustrated, as Doggett was always trying to get close to him, as if he wanted to use him to get closer to her.
Yvonne searched her memory and found that Dougett had been like this before, never hiding his feelings for Alicia.
Of course, Alicia never tried to hide her lack of interest in Dougett, but Dougett seemed to enjoy it…
Ivan was unable to get rid of the middle-aged man by the afternoon, as the Dementor, which was practising the art of Paging God, had been placed in Doggett's house and was said to be immobile.
Doggett suggested that if they were going to do something to the Dementors, they could go to his house, where he would be safer.
Alicia readily agrees, and then turns Ivan and Doggart out of the Dark Arts shop…
"So, you wanted the Dementors, little Ivan?" said Doggett, with an odd expression on his face. He had assumed that Alicia needed the Dementors for some sort of Dark experiment.
"I use them to learn how to call for protection. What else?" Ivan shrugged.
"If I'd known you were going to use it, I'd have brought the case over," muttered Dougett.
Yvonne, of course, could read Dougatt's mind and was speechless. He did not want to spend the afternoon with this old man.
Within a few minutes of leaving the room, Doggett took a jug out of his long sleeve and started drinking. He didn't drink in front of Alicia because he didn't want to affect her impression of him, but he couldn't help himself in front of Ivan.
Doggett's house was not far from here, only an alley away, but it was in a more remote location. There were hardly any houses around, and instead, there were only trees and weeds growing here and there. There was also a dusty sign beside the house, with a few words outlined on it.
St Mungo's Hospital for Magic…
Ivan had a strange look on his face. If he remembered correctly, the hospital in the wizarding world was called St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
To dare to put up a sign after deleting two words, he is also a ruthless man…
To think that no one bothered him all these years…
When they reached the door, Ivan saw that someone was waiting there. It was a wizard who looked to be in his thirties. His wizard robes were shabby, his eyes were sunken, and his left hand was emitting black smoke from under his sleeve.
A werewolf?
Ivan's expression hardened, and he quietly gripped his wand with his right hand. It had only been a few days, but Ivan had not forgotten the battle that night. One of the silver-haired werewolves had been hit in the left hand by a dark spell.
The scruffy wizard had no intention of attacking. Instead, he approached Dagget and pulled back his sleeve to reveal his corroded and grotesque left hand.
"Is there any hope?" the wizard said.
Doggett drank, but this did not affect his judgement in the least, and after a moment's inspection he spread his fingers and gestured.
"I can only last five days?" the wizard asked after a moment.
"I mean, five hundred Galleons in all…" snapped Doggett.
