Chapter 581 - Crescent Moon Necklace

"As I thought…" Ivan wiped the water from his face and sighed in disappointment at the broken glass on the table.

It's easy to say one's wishes come true, but when it comes to actual experimentation, Ivan found it impossible.

Without the aid of spells and gestures, the magic within would not understand or obey his commands.

Ivan shook his head, abandoning the idea for the moment and waving his wand to clear up the mess.

"Repair as before!"

Under the influence of magic, the shattered pieces of glass quivered and re-formed themselves, as if time had been reversed.

Even the scattered lemon juice was collected again…

Of course, Ivan was no longer interested in drinking this glass of lemon juice. He turned around and poured it into the bin.

The tiny, turnip-headed creatures were frightened by the sudden explosion of the cup and scattered in panic. It was not until Ivan repaired the cup that the creatures stopped, and when they saw it was empty, they went to the trouble of carrying it.

Ivan watched from the sidelines as the children busied themselves, making no attempt to lend a hand. Observing the movements of these alchemical creatures was a rare entertainment for him at the Alchemy Hut.

And if they did help, they would not only not be grateful, they would also become frustrated, as these chores were what they were for.

Ivan was also curious about how highly intelligent these "little turnips" were, as he had seen similar alchemical creatures before, such as George and Fred.

However, magical creatures were generally not very intelligent, with a few simple judgments, dull expressions, and far less clever minds.

Ivan couldn't help but reach out and grab one of the "carrot heads." He tugged at it curiously, ignoring its struggles, and looked around.

Eventually, it was found to be silver-white in colour, smooth and unblemished, with no magical inscriptions on it, presumably in the realm of enchantment, although it was not ruled out as some unknown alchemical method.

It was only after entering the Alchemy Hut that Ivan realised how ignorant he had been.

The more she studied the more advanced the books, the more she realised how little she knew.

A few days ago, he had been proud of his Level 6 Alchemy skill, but now it seemed that he had only just begun to understand the mysteries of alchemy.

Yvonne's hands never stopped moving as she sorted through the mess of Alchemy notes on her desk.

Nick Flamel's Compendium of Modern Alchemy covered a wide range of topics, and it was not so much an instructional book as a sort of summary of many alchemical theories, like a general outline.

One of the most interesting was a special enchantment.

"Strong and pure emotions tend to explode with unimaginable power… A skilled wizard can channel this power through magic and store it in a specific instrument to create an extremely powerful magical object." Ivan looked at a piece of parchment and stared at its contents, murmuring to himself.

He had seen the power of this emotion twice before, once with the protective charm on Harry's body, and once with the crescent moon pendant that Alicia had given him …

With that in mind, Ivan reached into his shirt and pulled out a silver chain.

At the end of the chain hung a pendant in the shape of a crescent moon, but it was dim in the sunlight. Several deep cracks were visible on the pendant, and his name could be vaguely seen engraved on the back.

[Magical Item: Crescent Necklace

Magic: Low (Stronger)

Description: This is a magical object made from the blood, sweat, and tears of a large number of precious metals, capable of withstanding a fatal attack for the bearer.

Note: It contains more than just magical power…]

"Is it not only the power of magic… but also love?" Ivan murmured as he held the locket in his hand.

According to the Compendium of Modern Alchemy, Acacia had used a certain method to channel this emotion into this Alchemical Item, which activated the protective runes on it, allowing it to be strong enough to resist mortal harm!

It is not easy to resist a fatal spell, and it seems that there is no restriction on type, which means that in the system's judgement, even if Voldemort uses Avada Kedavra on you, there is a very good chance that you will be able to escape unscathed.

As for the "merely" higher magic rating, Ivan thought it was normal. It was not easy for a one-time item to receive such a rating.

If it could be used multiple times, the rating would increase by at least one level!

At the same time, Ivan was careful to note that the note had been altered. Unlike the last time he checked, the note "Your skill in alchemy is not sufficient to repair it…" had disappeared, indicating that he had the ability to do so.

"But how am I supposed to fix this thing?" Ivan asked, turning the locket over in his hand and looking at the cracks.

He had no problem mending the cracks with his current knowledge, but the core of the problem was that the power of emotion had long since dissipated, and even if he did manage to repair the cracks, they would no longer be able to resist the effects of mortal magic.

There was a reference to emotional magic in the book, but it did not give a way to channel it, so Ivan had no idea how to fix it.

Never mind, I'll just ask Nick Flamel later…

With that thought in mind, Ivan tidied up the scattered notes on his desk, checked the time, then got up and walked towards Nick Flamel's studio.

Knock knock knock …

Yvonne knocked lightly on the door and waited for an answer before entering.

Nick Flamel was sitting at the table in front of them, staring at a drawing. He looked tired but excited.

Ivan was not surprised, as he had been in a similar state when he stayed up late to play games in his previous life. He was familiar with the feeling of wanting to fight again even though his body was tired.

This also worried Ivan, as he wondered if Nick Flamel, at his age, would be able to cope with the strain.

At the sound of Yvonne's door opening, Nick Flamel slowly raised his head as if he had only just noticed and turned his attention to her…
