Chapter 139 - We Said We Didn't Have Any Malice, Why Didn't You Believe Me?

After being caught red-handed for destroying the cupboard, Ivan had no choice but to take an hour-long lesson in ideological education.

Two days later, Ivan finally arrived, having been waiting for the arrival of Doggett.

Ivan was not idle during the two days of waiting.

Given the possibility of running into more than one werewolf, Ivan took the time to repair the Ring of Magic, which was on the verge of breaking down, and to find Alicia, where he used his GPA to quickly learn an offensive spell so that he wouldn't have to rely on his blood magic for every battle.

After learning that Ivan was preparing to study a potion that would keep werewolves sane, Doggett became interested.

He would have scoffed at any young wizard who did not graduate.

However, the brewing of the strengthening potions and Ivan's claim to have been inspired by Snape's classroom gave Doggett some confidence.

"I'm afraid you'll be the youngest recipient of the Order of Merlin if it succeeds," said Doggett, unable to contain his admiration. He then suggested enthusiastically that he wanted to join the research for the Wolf's Bane Potion.

Ivan, of course, readily agreed. He had been trying to think of a way to frame Dougett so that he could cover for him, but before he could suggest it, the other party took the bait.

After chatting for a while, Ivan soon realised that he might have underestimated Doggart.

Doggett must have had some skill to have been made a Deputy Dean in his mid-thirties, and although he was not known for being fond of werewolves, he was able to suggest a few possible pharmacological solutions.

Ivan also made a lot of money for a while. If he had only thoughtlessly brewed the medicine with the recipe in the past, he now had a deeper understanding of the composition of the Wolf Venom Potion.

After walking for the better part of an hour, the road became more and more deserted. The east side of Knockturn Alley was almost completely forgotten, with broken houses, broken stone pillars, and overgrown shrubs.

Ivan looked around, expecting to see the werewolves, but not expecting them to be there.

This was because it did not seem like a habitable place.

Was it to avoid getting angry and hurting people during the full moon?

Or was it simply poverty?

Ivan was lost in his own thoughts when a red light hit the ground a short distance in front of him, sending debris flying. Ivan instinctively activated the protective ring on his right hand, and a barrier of magic rose out of thin air to ward off the debris.

On Doggett's side, he gently waved his wand, sweeping away the rubble.

Ivan frowned at being targeted so suddenly, and despite the lack of a direct attack, it was not a good sign.

Ivan gripped his wand, but did not try to fight back.

"Come out and talk. We mean you no harm."

A moment later, a rather thin young wizard appeared. He appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen years of age, perhaps a little older than George and Fred at best. He was wearing an old, ill-fitting wizard's robe that had been washed so many times it was turning white.

He spoke in a self-mocking and sarcastic tone.

"Not many wizards come to this dump. Why don't you tell me why you're here?"

When Ivan saw him, he was reminded of the other, smaller werewolf he had seen at the second-floor window, but this was obviously not the time to think about that. Ivan quickly gathered his thoughts and pointed to Dougett.

"This is the former Vice-President of St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Doggett, who has been poring over werewolves in Knockturn Alley over the years.

There have been some groundbreaking developments, so I'd like to ask a few werewolf wizards about them."

Considering that he was only in his second year of wizarding education, and that he was not very convincing, Ivan placed the title of research on him.

In order to avoid misunderstanding, he did not directly mention drawing blood.

Doggett listened to Ivan with an odd expression on his face. He did not know when he had immersed himself in the study of werewolves in Knockturn Alley.

However, Doggett did not argue with Ivan. Instead, he went along with Ivan's speech and addressed the Sorcerer.

"Not bad. Do you know any werewolves around here?"

Instead of answering his question, the young wizard frowned and asked, "Duggart? Were you the one who treated him last time?"

"Fran?" Dagget asked, his expression changing slightly.

"I did treat a werewolf a while back, if you mean him, yes."

"You know him, so you should know how good I am at medicine." Doggett sounded very pleased with himself. He thought it would be easier if he had connections.

After all, he was the werewolf's savior.

Ivan, however, was not so optimistic, and became wary, as he noticed that the other man's expression was becoming increasingly angry.

Swish ~

A blinding red light shot out of the young wizard's wand and into the sky.

Even a fool could see that he wasn't going to have a good talk. Ivan turned angrily to Dougatt and asked what was going on.

The latter had an innocent expression on his face. He usually could not be bothered with werewolves, and his only contact with them was to treat their injuries.

Unless he killed the werewolf last time… Dougett rubbed his chin, but that shouldn't be…

He judged that the werewolf would be cured after a few days of pain from the black gas.

The young wizard felt insulted by their nonchalant attitude. He raised his hand and cast a Splinter Spell, aiming it at Dougatt.

"Split up!"

Ivan had no intention of intervening,

Doggett didn't seem to care. The Shield Charm had been cast on him, and the spell's light had returned the way it had come.

Not only that, but Doggett was not in the habit of taking a beating passively. With a tap of his wand, he cast spell after spell.

Despite his small size, the werewolf wizard was surprisingly skilled. Most importantly, he did not care about his image at all and managed to dodge several of the spells with a roll.

But that was all.

Ivan frowned when Doggett failed to deal with the creature immediately. Fearing that the red light rising into the sky would attract more enemies, he waved his wand…

The vines on one side of the wall instantly came to life and lashed out at his opponent like a whip. The werewolf wizard, who was already in a sorry state from the Doggart Charm's attack, could not dodge in time and was hit in the right arm.

The next second, the vine wrapped around the werewolf's right leg and pulled it up, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground…

Doggett used the opportunity to throw a black light, and the werewolf wizard's struggles began to falter.

"Let's grab him and get out of here. I'm afraid we'll be in trouble if we stay here. After all, you only need a few tubes of blood, don't you think?" said Doggett. He looked at the fallen werewolf wizard and wondered why he had attacked him when he heard his name…

Doggett was annoyed at the thought. When had his reputation become so notorious?
