Audrey walked out of her building wondering why she was feeling this nervous. Was it because she knew Nathan was definitely looking out of the window or because its been a long time she went out with the opposite sex?
She recollected how her lunch date with Charlie happened... if she didn't ask for a favor initially, probably she'd still be in the 'just collegues' basics with Charlie...
Charlie. Smiling 'hi Audrey... about meeting Nate yesterday, how did it go, hope you could meet up?'
Audrey. Yawning 'yea, I did. Thanks again for the help, also thank you for covering up for me here too...'
Charlie. Excited 'you're welcome... so, how about dinner?'
Audrey. Surprised... 'hun??? Dinner?'
Charlie. Smiles. 'Ooh come on Audrey, you know I like you and I'll love to get to know you so...'
Audrey. Interrupting... 'you do?' She thought of how she could try make him believe she didn't and how she could get out of this... 'I actually didn't, sorry
Charlie. 'Well, now you know, so go out to dinner with me.' Smiling even more
Audrey. Uncomfortably 'I ern... I.... ' clears her throat 'I mean erm...' blurted out 'I can't today, I have something to do with my son.'
Charlie. Wide eyes 'Ooh I'm sorry to impose on you like that, how about tomorrow then?'
Audrey. 'I don't think I'll be free either... sorry Charlie.'
Charlie moved closer to Audrey they were barely one feet apart... Audrey's heart beats faster.
Charlie. Bent over, spoke in a low tone... 'it's ok Audrey, I just want to get to know you, just go out with me once and if you don't enjoy my company, I promise to never bother you again. Think about it please.'
A perplexed Audrey couldn't find words so she blinked and nodded...
Charlie. Smiling... 'ok then, I'll see you tomorrow since I might get lucky.'
Stuned, Audrey watched as Charlie walked briskly away... true to his word, Charlie didn't pressurised her, she only got a 'hi Audrey, dinner today?' Ones in a while...
Audrey decided to have lunch instead of dinner with Charlie weeks later she was tired of postponing and playing hard to get...Audrey also felt ready to move on.
Audrey enjoyed every moment with Charlie, it was really nice to be out with someone other than Zane or Tonia... she enjoyed their time together she was surprised to know Charlie already know about Zane...
Charlie. Laughing 'I saw him first the day you brought papers to me in the office then we bonded and he told me all about himself when you brought him to the office and left him with the security Clifford.'
Audrey was thrilled to know Charlie was on her side which made her feel guilty for stalling when he asked her out for meals.
It was time to go back home and they both felt like spending more time together remembering Nathan and Zane, Audrey knew she had to go back home ASAP...
Audrey. Smiling 'thanks for today Charlie, I do need to get home to Zane.'
Charlie drove Audrey home, he couldn't stop smiling all through as he enjoyed every moment with her. He won't let her go now yet still, he knew he had to thread lightly as he'd loose her if he's impatient.
Charlie. Opening her door for her and helping her out of the car... 'I had a great time Audrey, I hope you did too?' Smiling 'let's definitely do this again and I hope You'll let me meet Zane soon...'
Audrey. 'I had a nice time too Charlie, thank you for today... it was really nice to get to know you outside work.'
Charlie. Impatiently 'hope we can do this again? '
Audrey. Smiled 'sure, no protest from me this time...'
Charlie. Happily 'I'm glad to hear... say hello to Zane.' Turned to leave...
Audrey. 'Get home safe, thanks again for today.'
Audrey knew she wasn't lying when she said she had a nice time, walking into her building she was humming when she suddenly remembered she had to face Nathan soon...
Nathan couldn't concentrate on anything since Audrey left, he wondered what he could do... he wanted to call Charlie but he knew it was a douche move so he tried letting go of his jealousy and focusing on his time with Zane. He got to know so much about Zane including the fact that he likes a girl Charlotte a lot and he was recently bullied... trying to get Zane to nap was futile so he gave up trying and let him enjoy playing and talking together.
Nathan glanced at the time and wondered why Audrey wasn't back deciding with Zane to order pizza for dinner, they ordered and Zane asked Nathan to read his favourite story 'red riding hood' when they heard the doorbell ring... checking through the peephole, Nathan was relieved to see Audrey back...
Zane. Happily 'momma!!!' He ran towards her for an embrace and peck.
Audrey. Laughs 'how was your day baby?'
Zane. 'Soooo fine. I like my daddy momma and he likes me too...' he replied excitedly...
Audrey. 'Oooh that beautiful baby' She ruffled his hair... turning to Nathan 'Hey Nate, hope he didn't bother you too much?'
Nathan. 'Not at all, I enjoyed every moment with him.'
In a not to friendly tone 'how did your lunch date with Charlie go?'
Audrey. Pretending to not care Nathan was pissed 'it went fine thanks.' Turning to Zane 'go wash up baby let me make dinner.'
Zane. 'But momma, daddy already ordered pizza.'
Audrey. Turned to Nathan and watched him nod, back to Zane 'ok baby go wash up.'
Nathan. Waited till Zane left the room 'what's going on between you and Charlie D?
Audrey. 'Nothing that concerns you Nate... stop trying to know everything going on with me please.'
Nathan. Moved close to Audrey and hold her shoulders 'I'm sorry if I offended you, it's really not my business...' he cupped her face with his hands 'let's get married.'
