Chapter 1 - Preface

His background notes were complete.

Name?

Elisabeth Morris

Age- 35 years

American. Fixed residence in Florida.

She liked books. Student. She appreciated art, literature, and...

He smiled, satisfied reading the information, and faced himself in the mirror assessing her profile. The fit of dress shirt fits perfectly over wide shoulders, accentuating your profile.

It was like closing a big deal. He was gathering weapons for the attack. More than that, he wanted that woman.

There was something that just attracted her. It was an almost palpable need.

Ray Clayton smiled, scratching his stubble in the boardroom office of the large multinational that the family ran. The almond-shaped eyes were shrewd and devoured the pages of the report.

Life took turns. Investing in the food field now that the company finally had the food patent... It was much more economical. Vertical insect farms. And the profits...

Young admin. He had everything that could be more attractive in a woman. Even the tan that accentuated the beauty of his fair skin. Black hair. It was without a doubt the look of winning over any woman. Minus her.

That was challenging. Usually, women surrounded him interested in his company.

Ray continued reading and devouring each piece of information savoring the sight of the prize. A fair-haired woman with bright, defiant green eyes. A five-year difference. He was younger and unwilling to accept obstacles or social conventions.

Address. Identity and Social Security Number.

He was evaluating the latest police investigations. Criminal record. The woman was a natural magnet for trouble. Rich family. She hadn't had any contact with them for years. And very strange deaths had happened in her absence. There was a sealed will. And the date set for the reading. And the investigations of murder took place in the secrecy of justice.

"How could he have been so innocent? Didn't notice the whole frame?"

"How could anyone not have noticed? You should have."

Ray had detectives. An incredible coup of millions and armed in the smallest details. She hadn't noticed. Some smart guy was hoping to make millions off a young survivor of a family that had come to a tragic end. He? He was having work and discreetly interceding, closing in until he could get close and gain her trust. An heiress. People like the two of them shouldn't mix with the rest. He needed to make his future lady wife understand that. They were the cream of society.

"It takes work to keep you safe. Even the security people complained..."

-The woman...- the detective began.

And Ray's glaring eyes were icy.

-The woman in question will be the future Mrs. Clayton. As soon as he manages to win your affection and admiration. Am I clear?

The detective nodded. There were people who asked for everything in that job.

He'd gone to a lot of trouble to find out about her tastes and preferences in everything. Places she liked. Clothes and props.

Ray smiled satisfied.

-Shoes?

-38, sir.

He smiled, picturing the high stiletto heels he intended to buy.

-Favorite color?

-Red. Blue...

-Religion?

-It's not orthodox.

He nodded. It didn't matter much. It was curious. In the United States... There was no sound of drums like in other countries. Drums were banned in Uncle Sam's land for over 100 years.

-Musical taste?

He'd expected something more upscale after reading the list of colleges she'd attended, courses, and varied interests. He personally liked the piano. Guitar. Classical music? Opera?

-I prefer rock. Blues.- Ray sighed.

He looked over the medical chart, watching for allergies. A younger brother had a seafood allergy as the reason for his death certificate. asphyxia. a fulminant anaphylactic reaction.

-Smoker?

Ray shook his head.

He was on the most urgent action list. She had allergic asthma. And as incredible as she could be. She had managed to find someone who didn't drink beer.

-Red and itchy rashes on the skin. ...illness. Nausea and vomiting. ...

-And lactose allergy, sir.

"Someone very easy to accidentally kill themselves and win a guilty verdict, wasn't it?"

- There is a job interview..

He sighed impatiently, drumming his fingers on the desk in his office.

"All as planned to keep the future Mrs. Clayton safe, sir.

Ray had hired security men to ensure if necessary that she had protection even before the police arrived. He wasn't the kind of man who liked to take risks. And he never bet to lose.

-No contact with family members?- His voice was grave and serious as he asked the detective in front of him.

-Anything. No contact. There was the death of the father and aunt. A car accident that the authorities investigate and report to the police station.

-But she must leave the house!- he starts to get exasperated.

suspicious. She wasn't going to be able to get as close as he had thought at first on social media.

-The notes show that she leads a very discreet life, sir.

Ray nodded attentively, dwelling on the part of the report that interested him most.

Sexual interest and preferences. She didn't have boyfriends.

There was the horrible death of a murdered groom. No suspects or clues.

"But have you been investigating?" he pressed with more interest.

"What's your preference?". Ray thought.

It wasn't uncommon. High society circles. corruption. drugs. Traffic. Illicit money. He wanted all the details.

His eyes gleamed in the reflection of the enormous mirror that covered much of the lavishly decorated office room.

Telephone. He mentally saved the number and then added it to his iPhone Falcon's contact list.

Reserved type of woman.

"And who wouldn't be? Anyone after an assassination attempt."

The police made inquiries and questions. She was involved in autonomous activities at home. There was a security circle. The police set the trap to capture a murderer. And she hadn't even noticed that she was the target of an insane.

Well, he wanted more stuff. The attraction she aroused... he wanted to know everything and conquer her. Know every desire and know her every thought.

"Money does not attract you. It is not a negotiable currency. What is of value to you?"

His smile lit up a predator's features. Everything about him was inviting. Attractive. And he was also hunting a killer. He was hunting a stalker after his future wife.

A stalker.

Ray smiled. he knew the deal preference well. Height was a great ally.

-Good job. - He said smiling looking at the picture in his hand. - Basic detail, honey. We are taller.
