"Jael didn't tell me anything," she mumbled. "I don't think he will read the letters either."
"Hmm, I don't see why you're worried about that. I can definitely see why he would avoid the letters. They would all be asking for confirmation or, worse, demanding an explanation. Jael would want to answer neither."
It had been over a week since he mentioned the letters, but it was clear he hadn't read them and had no intention to either. It slightly bothered Mauve, but at the same time, she wondered if she just wanted something to fixate on to distract herself. From what exactly? Mauve wasn't sure.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right," Mauve replied.
"I am always right," he smirked.
Mauve glowered at him before standing up to leave. "Jael will be here any minute now," she replied.
Louis didn't show any reaction. "Would you like me to go with you?" he asked as he started to clear the table.
