Mauve slowly opened her eyes. She knew immediately that she had slept in. She groaned as she rolled from her back to her side. She could never roll forward again, not until after the birth of the child, but that wasn't why she was irked right now. Jael never woke her up. He always let her sleep in, and she hated that.
Mauve sat upright. Her sleeping schedule was all over the place. Since she slept during the night, it usually took a while for her to sleep during the day, which meant she woke up even later. Mauve was trying to change this, but whenever she slept during the day, it felt like her soul was being sucked out of her body, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
