"I am not sick," Mauve cried as Mill held her head over a bucket.
"Are you sure?" Mill asked. "You've thrown up twice now."
"I do feel nauseated, but I know I am not sick. I have been feeling this way for two days now. It usually gets worse around dinner time, but this is the first time I have ever thrown up."
"Two days?" Jael asked in horror. Mauve's eyes flew to him. She had completely forgotten he was in the room with them. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because there is nothing to say. I think it's a symptom of, you know," she mumbled.
"Know what?" Jael asked darkly.
Mauve sighed in exasperation as she realized she would have to spell it out. "The pregnancy," she whispered, suddenly feeling very bashful.
"Oh," Jael and Mill said simultaneously.
"Is there anything we can do?" they asked.
Mauve shook her head. "It will wear off after a while."
