Mauve felt cold at Danag's words. She had only considered the part where she was Jael's mate as his lover. She had not looked at it from the perspective of the role she had to play in the kingdom as the Primus' mate—the literal Queen of vampires.
"Please don't overthink it," Danag said as she froze. "I just wanted to bring this to your attention, and I want you to be aware of your role. Human or not, the Primus has chosen you, and that is really all that matters."
Mauve nodded, but she could hear her internal screams. The doubts and the worry were slowly drowning her. Did she have what it took to be the Queen of vampires? Did Jael make the right choice? She knew he did. She didn't want anyone else to be next to Jael as she was, which brought the question: Did she have what it took to lead, let alone lead vampires?
