Jael watched Mauve's body language, and his jaw tightened. She wasn't the least bit angry about the disrespect and simply wanted him to be on good terms with people who had no reservations about showing their dislike for her, even though she was his mate. He didn't like that he had to agree with Danag and Louis. He couldn't keep acting as though this were normal. He had to make it official—for Mauve.
With her arms around her body, he wrapped her in a bear hug, and Mauve giggled.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
He pulled away and looked down at her. "I won't get into any trouble," he said and poked her nose.
"Ow," she cried.
"The Lords should be the least of your concern. Right now, focus on this," he lightly touched her stomach, and Mauve nodded.
"Okay," she smiled at him. "You should go. Mill will keep me company."
