The corners of Jael's eyes crinkled as he stared at Mauve, unable to suppress the smile spreading across his lips at her excitement. Her joy made him momentarily forget the dangers that came with this.
"Are you laughing at me?" she asked, pausing her rambling when all he did was smile and nod at her words.
"No," he shook his head and pulled her to him, resting her head on his chest. "I'm just happy you're excited." He truly was, he was going to be a father. He hasn't had the time to just dwell on the good aspect of this.
"I'm still not very pleased with you," she mumbled against his chest.
"I know, and I'm sorry. I didn't mean to keep it from you," he said softly.
Mauve pouted. She should probably be angrier, but she was too happy to dwell on anything bad right now. Besides, it was hard to stay mad when he gave such a sincere apology.
