Mauve watched Jael pace nervously as she lay in bed, ready to go to sleep. She had never seen him like this, so to say she was worried was an understatement. "Jael," she called softly.
He paused, then turned slowly to look at her. He walked toward the bed and stopped in front of her. He didn't say anything, just stared down at her. Mauve shifted under his stare, her heart tightening as she tried to figure out what was wrong.
She tucked her hair behind her ear. "What's wrong? Is this about the letter Danag gave to you?"
Jael's eyes narrowed. "I couldn't care less about that," he replied.
"Then what's the matter? I can't help but be scared," she said, grabbing his arm to pull him down. He gave in and fell onto the bed.
Jael adjusted so Mauve could lie on him. "The reason for my unrest is a totally different matter."
"Would you like to share?" she asked, looking up at him.
