It wasn't until the fifth night that Jael finally left her bedroom. Mauve woke up to see him staring at her. She looked up at him and smiled before stretching her lips. "Did you sleep well?" she asked through a yawn.
"You could say that, and by that sound, it's safe to assume you slept well."
"I did," she grinned proudly at him.
She pulled herself into a sitting position, resting her back on the wood. "How do you feel generally?" she asked, giving him a concerned gaze.
Jael shrugged and rolled onto his back. "The same," he mumbled.
Mauve stretched her hand to touch his face, and he let her. The flakes had come off, and all that was left was for the redness to fade out, and he would be back to his old pale self. Vampires never scarred except when the wound was caused by a Paler's bite. It left an ominous dark scar that usually faded with time, but it made it clear the wound was from a Paler's bite.
