Louis paused for a second as he thought about what she asked. "I would have smelled the blood and woken up," he said.
"What are the chances of that?" She asked. "You were what, four? Three? If you didn't wake up until they came to get you, I doubt blood would have woken you up. That would also explain why you don't remember because you didn't actually see it."
It wasn't that she disagreed with him; she knew firsthand just how sensitive vampires' senses were. Jael could hear her breathing change while he was fast asleep. However, she didn't think it was the same for a pretty young child. Maybe it was, and she was wrong, but it was definitely an angle to consider.
Louis blinked at her. "But that doesn't explain every other thing," he replied.
"True, but it certainly answers the question of why you can't remember, and I am sure that helps."
