Mauve heard the sound of the door open, but she didn't attempt to see who it was, primarily because she already knew. Instead, she rolled onto her front and kept her eyes shut.
She heard the door close, and the silence stretched on. Though it gnawed at her, she was determined not to let her curiosity compel her to turn to Jael.
He knew she was awake and was ignoring him. Well, it wasn't like he said anything so technically, she wasn't ignoring him.
He sat on the bed and lightly touched her. She didn't react and still kept her head turned away from him.
"Mauve," he called, gently stroking her back.
Mauve didn't respond to Jael's call and kept her eyes closed.
"Do you intend to ignore me?" He asked, his tone heavy.
"I am not ignoring you," she finally said. "I would just rather be left alone."
"Is this about earlier?" He asked.
"I am sure you can take a guess," she said dismissively.
